Like everyone else I think I'll call it a night. I've got to get ready to go out of town this weekend. See ya tomorrow.

Good night, all. I'll leave the light on for the West Coasters and for Kim to post about an awesome night at Wicked (saw the touring version in Philly and it was great!)

That's cool, we signed up on the ship, deck four on the promenade. We signed our loan papers up here, because he saw how green we were and he didn't want to make us sicker down in the DVC office, lol. We were crossing the gulf stream on the last night, but my memory of sign up for DVC includes ocean brine and waves rushing by, very magical.

Haven't heard form him since, but then I do have the DIS DVC board to ask questions on. And we did not have any questions about DVC by then, only about the financing side of things, he was impressed with my knowledge.

Pj
We signed up on the ship also, but I was not green. We have seen him a few times at WDW when we go to member meetings. He did a tour for our friends Dec 2004 and gave them $100 for listening. They didn't buy. :confused3

Most of you are probably not aware of the communion process in an Orthodox church, but let me just say it is NOT pretty if your child is kicking and screaming that she does NOT want to take communion and go up to that funny dressed man with the beard!

She is being just like her dad was as a child. I hated being different, and was embarassed of my heritage. Now, I love it, and want to immerse myself more in it. Go figure.

John1
I think that's called maturity. Being comfortable with and proud of who you are and not worrying about being like everyone else. :sunny:

So here I am, way out West and all by myself. We have not seen Jack Sparrow for a couple of days either. And Mark has been missing for a long time. Hope all is well with him.

The dog needed to go out. Looks like no one up.

Long day at work, and then a school board meeting . . . I'm pooped.

We took a tour of our new High School after the meeting. Our new school is scheduled to open on September 5th, and there is still a lot of work to do. Our HS is being built for 2000 students, and will be about 350,000 sq ft! It is AWESOME.

I told our Superintendent that I want to go back to High School. We really needed the new school, and it took us almost three years to pass a bond issue to build it, and then almost three years to design and build. Too late for DS, but in plenty of time for Sophia. We have an awesome arts program, and an unbelieveable theater, and music facilities and program. (including band).

But, I have to tell all you Bandos, because we could not pass an operating levy, we had to make cuts, and institute pay to participate programs - the bottom line on this was band camp was held at one of our elementary schools instead of at Ohio University, and I bet the kids did not have as much "fun" since it was close to home, and plenty of parents volunteered to help - probably doubling the chaperones!

John1
New buildings are very exciting! The district I teach in is building a new elementary building. They will move the 3 small schools into one central location. It will not be open until 2007-2008 school year.
Our bandcamp was held at our HS and it was wonderful! We never went anywhere special. The band bus to and from fball games and band competitions....that is where all of the fun happened ;) .

How about infancy?

Orthodox baptise our children as infants, and after baptism, the child receives their first communion, and then can take communion regularly the rest of their lives.

DW was brought up Lutheran though, and both of our children were baptised Orthodox. I had less trouble with Alex and church, because I was used to the experience as a boy, and he was an altar boy. Sophia on the other hand is a very picky child with ANYTHING that enters her mouth, and pretty much refuses to take communion. I keep hoping she will grow out of it, but no such luck so far.

Most of you are probably not aware of the communion process in an Orthodox church, but let me just say it is NOT pretty if your child is kicking and screaming that she does NOT want to take communion and go up to that funny dressed man with the beard!

YIKES~!!!! We are baptised as a baby but not confirmed until a teen and then we take communion.

We're getting close, pirate: but the boards are really slow tonight again . . .

Anyone ever hear from Caroline? She's been MIA for a while now . . .

John1
I know! I have been worried about her! I hope she checks the thread and sees our concern and drops us a line!!!!

Last I remember Caroline was going to go to Sesame Place last Thursday, because I made a comment that it was too bad that I was busy and couldn't meet her there.
Maybe big bird or elmo carried them away????

No, I bet it was Oscar the GRouch!!!!

It must be as much fun as I have when DS has to go to church... I volunteer to teach in our CCD and Vacation Bible School programs, so it really looks nice when I have a kid screaming and hitting and saying "NO CHURCH!!!" to the director of religious education.
Oy Boy!!!! (as Lisa would say) that would be  !!! We have a ton of children in our church. We have a country church with less than 400 members...but let me tell you what....the people around my age have REALLY been contributing to church growth!!!!! We had a wave of children born around when my DS was born and it has continued!!!! It is wonderful to see how full our Sunday School is!

Let me put a plug in for our nonliturgical churches. We did away with communion and started what is called a "Holy Feast". Basically it's an excuse to fix a lot of food without the wine and eat until we drop. In the South we call it "Fellowship"! :goodvibes
We also have alot of "Fellowship"!!! Our pastor is from NC and moved to PA after meeting his wife (who is also a minister) in seminary. She was from our area...and she won out on location! Anyway, he always says this church likes to cook and eat! We have covered dish Sundays and parties all of the time! Why not?

Jack Sparrow is currently in Cozumel....don't worry about him. Although, he may be looting and doing other pirate activities there!!!! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Good Morning Everyone!!! I hope you all have a wonderful or magical or happy or exciting or fun or....you get the picture.....kind of day!!!!
