Yeah, and then they'll change it after two years. What tangled webs they weave. I wish they would just go back to the old Models of high school. They seemed to work just fine.
.
The description of combined math classes reminded me of another downside of the new models. When DD was in school, they came up with fancy names for all the basic high school classes - to show they were progressive or something. Freshman english was called "Gateways" a combination of history and science was called "Connections" and so it went. We laughed about it at the time. But it wasn't so funny when her class graduated and went to college and found out that every single student was denied NCAA eligibility and could not practice for fall sports. Seems that in the review process, NCAA did not recognize the funny names and coded each student as not having enough english, science, or math. The school had not even put translations on the transcripts! So after a week or so of nervous kids, mad parents, and worried coaches, it got taken care of. But it was not a simple process and it was not fun.
