Kristina,
how are the tennis balls? all deflated now?

I have to tell you, the best toy I have found for Lexi is a Tennis ball "donut". It is about 8" in diameter, made of tennis ball stuff, and when you throw it, it rolls and rolls. She LOVES chasing that thing. And, on the plus side, while she has chewed holes in the first one, it keeps it's shape (has a squeky inside too)

The Notebook! :thumbsup2 The Wizard of Oz scares me. To this day it is the scariest movie I have ever seen. I have nightmares even thinking of those flying monkeys! {shudder}

.... I dislike The Wizard of OZ!

becka said:
Yes I have. A a teen I loved scary movies but the Wizard of Oz is truly the scariest movie of all time. There is no way that is a children's movie. I tried to watch is as an adult even (thinking maybe it would be better). Nope - I had the same nightmares I had as a child for weeks. :sad2:

My MIL feels the same way - hates it. I never understood that, but it must be more common than I first perceived . . . Becka has something in common with my MIL :sad2:

Anyway, when I was a kid, that was one of the FEW movies for kids that was on TV - always on during the Holidays, and I ALWAYS made sure I saw it. I loved it, and still like it to this day.

Now those other movies . . . never seen them, have no desire, and did not go to them as a teen. (Exorcist, Shining, Carrie, et. al) I do NOT like blood, guts and gore for my entertainment.

Flying monkees can be very frightening!

BTW - I liked the monkeys - thought they were cool. We used to pretend WIzard of Oz when we were kids, and all of us boys always wanted to be the flying monkeys LOL.

I am having a candy treat for the kids issue. I was making up my bags and my DH said...why did you get chocolate. It will melt. Followed by....you have about 7 pounds of chocolate...you will have about 7 pounds of mushy mess. :guilty: What should I do?

Should I use that for something else and get skittles or what????

I took M&M's last year and they didn't melt, in fact I had not issues with them. When we went on the Halloween Cruise, I took chocolate for trick or treat with the DIS people and it didn't melt either. I think it will be fine.

The only thing I would suggest is taking it in the hotel with you and not leaving it in the car before the cruise.

Do you really like the fried turkey? I have cooked every Thanksgiving but one. My BIL made a fried turkey and he over cooked it...it was so dry and crunchy! Now I have all of our Thanksgiving dinners!

The first year we tried frying, I made 2... one roasted the traditional way and one deep fried. Nobody touched the roast turkey! Actually, I think my brother took pity and took a few slices but everyone devoured the fried -- there was nothing left on the carcass. So we've been frying ever since.

It's really tricky to maintain the oil temp so the outside doesn't brown too quickly, and it really only takes 3 min per pound so a little too much time in the oil can dry it out. Less is more-- plus it continues to cook once you take it out of the oil.

I can't imagine TG without fried turkey now.

My day involved taking DD to the barn...Then DH and i took Abby over to one of the dog parks in the area. There were 3-4 other dogs there and she had lots of fun running around. Then we drove back to Frederick to go to the Post Office. (since when did they decide that they weren't federal employees. They had took today off. OY! So now i have to lug my package back there on Monday....

Then we took Abby to the dog wash....I don't know who really had the bath...us or her

But now she's clean..smells good...and has her nails trimmed

We came home afterwards and caught a mid-day nap....woke up in time to go pick DD up.

Did some shopping...went to dog store for Casey's food. (Abby won't need hers for about another couple weeks.)

Had pancakes for dinner. Yum...

I gave Lexi a bath today too, and trimmed her nails. One a bit too close. So I also got to clean the carpet today to get all the blood out from the nail . . . :sad2:

Thank goodness for the Hoover Steamvac!
(Do you have one of those Angie? About the same price as an iPod!)

I remember watching it around Easter time. :confused3

Any other old-timers like me out there remember the other holiday tradition movie that was always on? (although I cannot remember the holiday when they played it)

Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella!

I really enjoyed that one as a kid too
(even though it was a girly movie)

You teased us with that and then went away!

Oh well, almost kind of caught up now.

I am not even going to try to read all those posts between 49,500 or so and 50,000. It was a posting free for all. If I missed anything of consequence, let me know.

Time for bed soon.

We had our last soccer game today. It rained almost all day but cleared up just in time for our game at 3:00. We won, and ended the season 8-1-1... not bad for a team of mostly first timers who almost weren't... the coach quit before the season began and a couple of the dads stepped in to coach. They were awesome about the whole thing and now most everyone wants to go back and play together again next year.

We had our team party tonight and it was really cool. One of the other moms made up a dvd of video clips she shot during the season. I'm so sorry that our kids' paths don't normally cross because this is such a great group of boys and parents. Can't wait till next year!

Joy - cute Halloween pics, my DD's have the same pirate outfit. We also fry a turkey - with some cajun spice injections...it too gets devoured!

Angie - we were definitely sweating the game. I was sooo worried!

Ya know, I am surprised at some Gator fans - well ones they chose to interview....it's obvious they don't know many of the reasons Spurrier left - mainly due to the AD Foley and then when he tried to come back they asked for an interview....DUH, look in the trophy case! It was SO conveinent that the new head coach came from the school that our new UF president came from......politics. Off my soap box now.

FSU lost big at home! That's terrible. Next week we play Western somebody....

going to get my hair chopped today...and some cruise shopping. I have to get my memory cards all downloaded to a cd. You tech people...is there a way I can do that at home? I guess I would have to download to comp then burn to cd?

I would choose cooking for the masses over that drive...

I actually loving doing Thanksgiving. I love setting my table and all.
I think almost all of us would not choose the drive!
But I do love seeing all of the family, so I need to get over my dread of the drive... no need to make it worse with a bad attitude!

I go to computer then burn to CD because I like to do quick fixes (red eye, some cropping) before putting them on CD.
