She is also excited because they may get to "bring in" Santa Clause this year. The high school band always does this, but they will be at a championship football game if they win next weekend. Something like that. I never followed our team.

Brandi, did I tell you Sarah got a piccolo to play in band? She is so excited with it. They will use it marching in the parades.

That is awesome!!! I love the piccolo! I played it in school and college! When I was a little girl I didn't want to play the flute...I wanted to play the piccolo!!! Obviously, my Band Director made me start with the flute...but I got a pic as soon as I could! Tell her congrats!

Now I never had the desire to play the piccolo. I did like to play my friends' instruments like the clarinet and trumpet. I switched to the oboe senior year. That I liked! I'm just wondering where the school got all of these piccolos from?

Of course I have been playing with the piccolo since she has gotten it.

That is awesome!!! I love the piccolo! I played it in school and college! When I was a little girl I didn't want to play the flute...I wanted to play the piccolo!!! Obviously, my Band Director made me start with the flute...but I got a pic as soon as I could! Tell her congrats!

That is awesome. DGS is a flautist and wants to learn piccolo. I bought him a glass piccolo a few months ago. And I was a Band Geek. I was also a Drum Corps nut. I was in the Velvet Knights D&B Corps for a couple of years. I played French Horn Bugle. I was a Horn player from 4th grade to age 20. Hope she is having fun. Band Geeks are awesome.

That is actually only 1/4 of a really big cow. Those shelves are packed and you can't see all the meat behind. It is full from the front to the back of each of those shelves!

That must have been a huge cow!

OK, here's one for ya....

DD13 comes home and tells me that a boy in her English class threatened to "slit her throat" if she didn't shut up. She went to the office and they had her file an incident report. They told her they would probably talk to the kid's parents.....ok, and when were WE going to get a report that this happened? DD says, oh, they didn't give me a copy of the report.

They asked her what he said and if he was joking...now, what does it matter if it was a joke. If a kid says, I'm going to "blow up the school", would they say, oh, you're just joking HA HA. NO, they would be calling police, parents, etc...they take that serious!

Threats are considered assault by school regulation...classic case, the school doesn't want to bring too much attention to a situation. Sweep it under the rug.

Not again!!! I can't believe all this is going on in schools these days. I must live a sheltered life. On the news it just never seems real and then someone you know tells you a story....

Piccolo's (especially marching band quality) are generally really cheap instruments!!!!

Yes ---- let me clarify ....my new house rule was...I don't want to see anyone wearing only underwear around the house.

I'm telling ya...I think my boys (all 3 are scared of me)....I haven't seen one pair of boxer shorts walk by me. And the other day when my DS got out of the hot tub and realized he didn't have any clothes near by, he freaked out and yelled...close your eyes mom.
