12/04/2010 Eastern MAGIC - CHIP 'N' DALE'S CRUISIN' NUTS

I will do that I was at AK yesterday. Had a great time rode EE twice in a row. Then saw FOTLK and met up with a ton of characters.

Let me know when you will be in the World maybe we could set up a meet or two!

Off to the clubhouse to take a dip in the pool!

Welcome Amy! We are in the cabin right down the hall!! (6600).

We are back from Disney! it was insanely busy over the break, but we were able to do everything we wanted. (fast passes are the best) and knowing your way around the parks help too. :)

My son talked about getting a chip/dale doll the whole time before we went on our trip. he picked out a mickey/ pluto instead. I bought him c/d for his bday. and I now the difference between the 2 of them. :) it has taken me a long time.

Looks like there is a good list going for the fish extenders!! :)

We were in 6628 on our first cruise it was nice but it was a bit far back in the boat and we rather be mid ship.

I can't wait to do a fish extender we didn't really chat online when we went the first time and had no idea about what the DIS was or what it even was. So I can't wait. I already think I know what my gift is going to be I borrowed it from another DISer because it was just too darn cute!

Your DS will be so surprised about the C/D for his birthday! When is his special day I could mail a postcard from Orlando for him to receive close to his big day?

John will be 6 May 28th. he keeps telling us that he wants to spend his bday at Disney. ( he keeps forgetting we are 18 hours away. lol.) We will be alot closer when we move next summer to Atlanta! only 9 hours from the Magic.

We were iun 8576 our last cruise. I love deck 8, but our room was soooo noisy! We were under the Mickey Pool area. Chairs were scraped all night long. Our kids will be across the hall is 6602. it was cheaper to get 2 rooms rather than a Cat 4. ( that 3rd child is super costly :rotfl2: )

Cutting your drive time in half is great!! Good luck with the move we just moved in September and we don't want to do that again for a very long time!

Your DS is 10 days away from my Birthday Mine is May 18th. May is great for birthdays!

On the Wonder, I was in 6630, and I actually liked the proximity to the pop station on Deck 9.

I'm in 6654 this cruise, but would like to see photos of the room as well. I've only seen photos here and there, but if someone has more photos of the room's layout, I would appreciate the assist.

The soda station was close by but everything else seemed to be midship or forward plus mom gets a little motion sick so mid ship should be better for that.

:surfweb: Hey folks - As I sit here still drinking my morning coffee (been a lingering morning), thought I'd share this pic of what my "other" home town looked like this week. My DH said it has mostly melted now, but I guess it snowed every day for about 5 days. From here in FL, I REALLY miss it! My best clothes are in my WINTER wardrobe! But then, Idaho doesn't have WDW and DCL!

SNOW = YUCK for me! We moved from CT to get away from that stuff LOL!!!

We are going to Port Canaveral tomorrow to watch some friends sail out on the Magic!

I will post photos when I get back!

We are having Dinner at Rusty's too I got a coupon for joining their VIP list for Buy 1 get 1 50% off!

Hey has anyone done a back to back in our group before?

I meet more people from the northeast who come here to FL to escape the dreadful winters and who say they hate snow, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the ones I know who moved here from "out west." They still make occasional trips back for the skiing and a bit of winter. Some parts of the west do get bad storms, but at my "other home" in Idaho, we never get the eastern style "blizzards." It was unusual to have several days in a row of heavy snowfall and have it stick. Most times it snows overnight and is melted by early afternoon. It's enough to be nice to look at or play in for awhile, then it's gone. I know that's not the case in the northeast, so I understand your attitude towards snow. Many of my neighbors moved here from NJ to escape their winters.

As for your question about back-to-back, I did a back-to-back on the Wonder a few years ago, but not the Magic. The only kink was that I was in two different cabins because I booked the cruises at different times. I was still able to leave my luggage onboard and it was in my other cabin at the start of the next cruise. :)

Yeah once snow landed it usually stuck for a while!

I am wondering if doing the back to back if they would let us bring things to our car that we either don't need or bought as souvinears. Plus if we leave extra toiletries and supplies in the car if we brought them back through security we wouldn't have to worry about running out.

Or if you have to go straight up to the main hall and onto the ship again?

Ugh sooo much to figure out!

So My Mom and I live in Orlando (5 mins from WDW  ) But the perk is that its about an hour to the port and we go watch the ships pull out when we know people on board and take photos for them to use in scrapbooks!

Well We went last night to the port to see a nice couple whom I became friends with through another web community.

So We went down to Jetty Park, paid $7 to park and parked along the inlet. We had a great spot and when the ship got to us we waved our Mickey Hand Gloves and he Blew the HORN!!!!!

AWESOME!!

Well here are some of the shots I got using my Canon Rebel XTi, with my 75-300 zoom lens!

Figure I can help you pass the time and feed the addiction as well!

Hope you enjoy!

Maybe it's just the angle of the photos, but the ship appears somehow out of proportion - - too tall and wide but not long enough in length. Could just be the angle you shot from, or did you resize the pics without constraining the dimensions?

Nice shots anyway. :)

It is the angle I was on I think plus my lens is not the newest model with IS in it so some of it is noise from not being able to hold it 100% still. I am waiting until I find a job to outlay for a monopod, and all the accessories for that.

But one thing I can't control is the sun and some of the glare I got in my shots bug me but I can't complain not everyone has the opportunity to go down to the port whenever they want :lmao:

Were you using a lens hood/shade? That plus a quality filter (UV filter helps block the haze but there are other options) solves a lot.

Still, none of that affects proportions. What was the size (height and width) of the original photos?

Looks like most are 2816x 1880 original size but if i post that size here I might get points or something.

I have to get a lens hood and the uv filters I am just getting into photography more then a P&S and with no job getting all the extras are really hard right now but I added both of those to the Wish list!

Hmmm - Well, the resizing is in proportion then, so I guess it is a combination of the angle AND movement distorting it a bit. The lens hood and UV filter aren't too expensive and would solve most of the glare and haze problem, so maybe you won't have to wait too long to get those. At least it's not like saving up for new lenses. ;)

Yeah, I understand about getting money for equipment. I've been a professional wildlife photographer for what seems an eternity - LOL. It took me many years to afford what I thought I needed. The irony is that when at WDW or cruising, I much prefer my smallest Nikon digital. That way I always have it handy but if I don't shoot anything then I don't feel I've lugged equipment around for nothing. :lmao:

Another question: Did you make any adjustments to the depth of field, or did you leave the camera in automatic/program mode? Just curious.

I realize this is OT, but since probably nearly everyone here will be photographing the Magic, it doesn't seem too irrelevant. :rolleyes1

It was in AF but since I am still learning I probably messed with it the wrong way as i moved the lens so that the ship would be closer in the photos. Maybe we should get together you can show me how to use it right LOL

I have no doubt it was operator error and angle of the shot that did it.

LOL - Well, being as you live in Orlando now we are quite likely to be at WDW the same day sometime, although for me it's an hour's drive to WDW and only a bit less to the port. :drive:

Your pics are good but could be great with a bit of tweaking. I hope I don't come across as overly critical because that can happen when I see potential in photos (mine and everyone else's) and think "Hey - If only I/they did this the result could be amazing." That happens to me when I view my own work just as often. My only real area of photographic expertise is wildlife. ;)

In any case, thanks for sharing the pics and spreading some Magic! :)
