Yes yes yes... Phoenix is unofficially the closest spot to the sun on Earth. We leave next Tuesday and can't wait to get to beautiful Southern California!

But, I do have a question.... How does the humidity affect the temperatures at Disneyland?

Here it is a "dry heat" (which no matter what anyone tells you, does not make it more bearable). But I'm worried that we are going to be freezing at night and I'm not sure what the temps will feel like during the day (I did read the forecasts though and know the actual temps to expect).

Does the humidity make it feel warmer or cooler than it actually is?

Yes, on both counts. Hotter during the day and cooler at night. Of course, you won't get any S. Cal natives to admit that it's humid there, nor WDW regulars. They think DLR is DRY! :lmao:

They don't know dry!! Enjoy the lovely day here in Phoenix today! :headache:

It's not dry until you start sweating dust! :rotfl: :scared:

But seriously, ocean = moisture in atmosphere right? I paid some attention in HS science class back when... Coming from Phoenix should I just expect to bring along sweatshirts or light jackets for the evenings?

When are you going and what are they projecting for high and low temps?

Edited to add: Guess I shouldda read the title of the thread!

I would just bring a sweatshirt for evenings. You'll be plenty warm during the day. I'm JEALOUS!!

My brother in law just got transferred there with his company (Intel). He used to live in Albuquerque...so we were happy that he got closer to us here in Cal. We are going for my nieces 7th Bday. We are staying in Chandler.

ahh well thats cool maybe a pool will be close by just make sure to wear plenty of sunscrean this sun burns you even when just walking..but have fun it might be cooler in a few days..some times it cools down but lately juts been 110+

Ya I've noticed some people think DLR is dry. I have to giggle when I hear that. We live in Nevada, so we have dry heat here too. We usually can't wait to go to DL, breathe in the moisture, and watch the skin on our hands heal from the dryness! LOL

But yes humidity does make it feel hotter or cooler then it really is. It was quite pleasant when we were there last week. Now last year when we went in July it was just too hot for me to deal with. It was warm last week, but I was able to manage. I'm the type that lives inside with my swamp cooler going! LOL

Im in Phoenix and I guess I actually like the heat. well until it goes over 110 like this week then I dont like it.

California is most certainly humid!! Not like Florida but let me say I have had a lot of bad hair days in california due to that humidity. We go to Disneyland about every 2 to 3 months. I do bring a sweater or jacket for nights because one thing I noticed in California is the day time is so nice but nights are cold to me.

Have a fun trip!

There is a great pool at the high school in Chandler (Hamilton High). It is 50 cents for kids and $1.50 for adults. Two water slides and a play area for the kids. My boys LOVE IT!

BTW- it is a dry heat until July when the rain storms start. Then it is HUMID until they are over. 3 am and over 100 degrees is just wrong!

i also leave next tuesday and i cant wait to get there! i live in Puerto Rico and it is so hot here too. its like 93 in the morning and about 97-100 in the afternoons.

I grew up with humidity so it doesn't bother me all that much in CA. Plus it's not nearly as bad as WV. lol

I also always take a jacket when I go. I've never gone and not needed it. Might have something to do with only going in the spring and fall.

Have Fun!!! Enjoy the break from the heat.

We just flew home from Phoenix today after being there all week and my DD5 just HAD to put her sweater on when we got home...she said it was COLD here in Ohio...it's only a balmy 90 degrees!
Her new favorite expression is "In AZ, it's hotter than you think!"
Me, I personally loved it!

We left AZ last Friday and it was 111f and only 60f in Oxnard....AAAHHHH. We went to DL on Saturday and it was hot and sunny, but nothing a desert dweller couldn't handle.

I wish it were that here now. We will be 90, but that is not warm enough. The pool needs to be warmer since we have been unseasonably cooler lately.
