I am so sorry. My cousin's husband was killed in a motorcycle accident six weeks ago. He had been riding for decades and owned his own motorcycle shop. He was a very safe, experienced careful driver who was hit by a guy who ran a stop sign (an illegal with no insurance). He left behind a wife, two teenaged sons and a 7 year old daughter.
I have a younger sister (12 years younger) so I understand how we feel about out "little" siblings. My sister was in a terrible car wreck (went through a windshield face first) 20 years ago. She will suffer the rest of her life, but I am so lucky to still have her.
I know there's nothing that anyone can say to make the hurt go away, but we all want to try anyway.
