My 11 year old son is a very picky eater. The last time we went to Disney he was in the 3yr-9yr age and we could always find something he liked on the kids menu. We've got the free dining plan but now he's an "adult". If I pick a TS restaurant that has nothing on the adult menu that he likes...is he allowed to order something from the kids menu? For example, he might prefer to have a hamburger, pizza or spaghetti and meatballs instead of a New York Strip and mashed potatoes.

Oh, I'm sure they'd gladly bring him a kids' meal (or kids' entree, at least) and charge you the full adult credit for it. Extra profit margin and all.

I've heard anecdotes of folks getting "adult sized" portions of kids' entrees as their DDP meal, so if he's a big eater, but just a little picky, that might work out.

Alternately, you might consider paying OOP for him for these meals, and then save the extra credits to do an additional TS meal or two. The credits belong to the reservation, not the individual, so you can divvy them up that way if you desire.

Not to hijack your thread or anything, but I was just coming to clarify somewhat the same thing. My DD is 9 and we upgraded her to the adult Dining Package because she doesn't usually eat the kids meals. I don't want to waste our table service credits at places where they do serve things she would prefer off of the kid's menu. Do I have to let them know with our reservations, when we order, or how do I go about letting them know that we will be paying OOP?

Technically, you have until the time you pay the check to choose to use credits or OOP for any part of your party. Practically speaking, it's probably best to let your server know up-front when you're ordering.

I can guarantee you that my 11 yo is even pickier than yours. lol

Buffets were not much of a problem, there was usually always something he would eat there.

For the other TS restaurants what we ended up doing if there wasn't an "adult" meal he wanted...we just let him order a kids meal and paid OOP for it (usually $7.) We used his leftover adult credits for an extra TS meal.
