I was going to suggest flannel sheets -- they're just so cozy and inviting in the winter. Her birthday is next week and for that we are repainting her room and new bedding.
Airpod cases and phone cases are big status items in high school.Apple Airpods
She didn't mention it but if airpods are coming, mostly likely a fun case for them, as well as a charging stand that can accommodate her ipad and Apple pencil
Fidgets. All the fidgets.
Claire's Giftcards
I'm not 100% sure what a fidget is, but I was at a toddler's birthday party a couple weeks ago, and the kid received a couple of those, um, push-pop-plastic things. The adults couldn't keep their hands off them. If I were buying for a tween/teen, I'd get one on a key chain, which could be used as a zipper pull on a backpack.
Near 100% of my high school kids have Air Pods -- I couldn't say which type they have -- and they're bad about "sneaking them" in class; for example, leaning with a hand over one ear. Do talk to her about when /where these are appropriate. Talk to her, too, about taking care of these expensive things -- I stepped on one in my classroom the other day.My daughter (and her older brother) both have the regular AirPods with wired charging … We don’t know many kids with the pro…it’s a high risk loss item - did not seem like a good use of extra dollars to either one of them!
Experience gifts are great! If you're anywhere near the Virginia Creeper Trail, consider that as an experience gift -- wonderful, and since it's outdoors, it's very low-risk.Also, I am normally a huge fan of Experience gifts, but I guess Covid left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth about giving them. I need to snap out of that!
When my girls were this age, they loved these things. Not just paint pens though: They also loved nice art markers and sketch books.earrings (or Claire’s gift cards)

Other ideas:
- For years my husband got the family a word-of-the-day or fact-of-the-day or joke-of-the-day calendar. They were an ongoing source of entertainment for the whole family.
- Polaroid camera (new style) -- I brought mine to school for something, and my girls were INSANE about it. These do take a bit of practice; you have to get CLOSE to your subject, or you don't get a good picture.
- Light strings with tiny clips to string photos on the wall.
- Craft kits
- Cookbooks
- Kindle
- Hair accessories
- Changeable letter board set
- It's hard to go wrong with hoodies for tweens/teens
