11 year old = Adult prices?

I have a 12 yo dd who will occasionally order off the kid's menu and occasionally off the adult's. We have had no problem using the kids menu when she didn't feel particularly hungry or didn't like the adult selections.

I credit our trips to disney for expanding her adventurousness!

funny, i was just saying that yesterday about my son... he was a chicken nugget, only certain pizza (and disney pizza did not make the cut) and cheeseburger nothing on it, kinda guy... and after a few disney trips, plus F&W Fest, he is now a steak eater, chicken any style (w/some limits on sauces), pork chop/rib, salad bar, fruit kinda guy... thank goodness :)

See we have an 8 year old coming in October with us and are worried about the opposite problem. The 8 year old is probably about as adventurous and eats as much as I do... definitely much more adventerous then my husband. I'm afraid she will want the adult food and hate being stuck to the kids stuff.

That is why we didn't do ddp when my child was younger. She and I just shared our meals. We would get an appetizer, entree and split the meal..Saved us lots of money :)!

Disney's portions of food are HUGE!! So no worries about everyone not eating enough!

My DD11 generally prefers the adult menus at TS locations, at 10 would order from the kids menu only infrequently, and even at 9 would sometimes order off the adult menu. The kids menus are really targeted at *kids*, they aren't just smaller portions of the adult menus. My DS9 still orders almost exclusively off the kids menus at TS locations, but even so he's really running out of rope with them.

As for CS: they both started ordering adult meals there starting around 7 or 8, at least some of the time. I think we ordered only one kids CS meal the entire week this summer with my 9 and 11 year olds.

This is one of several reasons we've never gotten the dining plan; my kids often "ordered up", and the plan would not have covered it.

But, like it or not, a 10 year old is an "adult" at Disney restaurants and will pay adult prices at any all-you-care-to-eat location. At a la carte locations, you can ask to see a child's menu for younger kids, generally with no issues.
