#11 Place to Avoid = Animal Kingdom??

Totally O.T. here, but that JOKE doesn't make any SENSE!

Leaving the distasteful (and inappropriate) aspect alone,

there is simply no relationship between the first and second parts.

Its like, "Know the difference between a fish and a tree?
- The fish swims."

Humor 101.

In other words ethically there is no difference, just one is illegal. I know it was a lame example but I wrote it on the fly with not much thought, I didn't mean to disparage all journalist for I know there has to be a few with ethics, but most are about like the paparazzi if you asked me.

Yeah, this guy's right. No one needs to go to AK. Ever. Forget it. Stay away! (Especially the next time I'm at WDW! :teeth: )
I used to semi-agree with the journalist's opinion, but I gotta say that I enjoy it more each time I go, and now AK ranks as #2 (only behind MK) as my favorite park at WDW! Expedition Everest, the Jammin' Jungle Parade, Lion King Show, Dinosaur...All good. And the CS restaurants there are the best in WDW.
But I also agree I'd never pay $67 for AK. Or any other park. As others have said, who buys a one-day pass? :confused3

Wow- you are saying ethically being a child molester and a journalist are on equal par. That is a very odd perspective you have.

To suggest that there is little or no ethical difference between child molestation and journalism is one of the most incredibly offensive things I have ever heard. And one of the most ignorant.

Geez, a guy says he wouldn't pay $67 to go to AK, and he ends up being compared to a child molester. Wow. Talk about lame.

AK is my least favorite. I would never waste a full day ticket at this place. I have a hopper pass so I'll just go there to ride EE and maybe the safari. But I wouldn't mind if I missed the safari since I think it is boring. I'm not an animal lover.

Did anyone see this on msn.com?? They are telling tourists to avoid the Animal Kingdom! Obviously Mr. Jon Douglas has never been there.

Another reason to dislike MS.

Hi all,

Well...i gotta say i'm one of those who agrees with the article. It's not "bashing" the park per say... it's more the price than the park!
I wouldn't pay 70$ EACH to go the AK. We never spend the whole day there... Anyhow, that's me!

Animal Kingdom is what it is. On our list, it is not very high compared to the others.

Just my thoughts...please don't shoot me! :teeth:

Well I said I was probably being too harsh, and maybe I was, just don't care for journalists in this day and age. I think it used to be a more honorable profession, but not anymore. I said that was probably a bad example.

So what you are saying is that you don't love animals unless they are small yellow bears dressed in red t-shirts! :teeth:

Let it go- for heavens sake it's his opinion. If you don't agree that's totally your right, if your offended, don't read it again! We love the AK, and enjoy it more and more every visit. Once you slow down from the "main attractions" and just enjoy the "smaller" things it's wonderful!

Stupid people! Just because it has animal's doesn't make it a zoo and quite frankly I'd rather pay $70 for AK than $10 to see animals in cages! AK is my fave park and I think this is just stupid! Anyone know if we can complain about this anywhere? I think we should all complain and get it removed!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Bit melodramatic, don't you think?! Everyone's entitled to their opinion!

We love AK, but we get the park hoppers so for us it's value for money. If you told me I'd have to pay $70 to go, I'd probably not bother even though I do love it (but I wouldn't pay that to go ANYWHERE) :rotfl:

Okay, fine. If you have ONE day to spend at Walt Disney World and are purchasing only a one day ticket, maybe Animal Kingdom isn't the best choice of parks. For rides, it'd be Magic Kingdom; for area, Epcot - I mean, if you wanted to get the most for your money. Now, for MY money, if I had to skip a park it'd be Magic Kingdom because I've been there more than any of the other three. Well, no, wait - that was true last week; now, I guess I could skip the Studios.
Anyway, I think he knows not of what he speaks. Look at "8. Boston Faneuil Hall Marketplace When we lived in Boston, we tried to steer clear of this plaza, which attracts more tourists than a picnic does mosquitoes. We still don't see the appeal: Quincy Market is dominated by an overpriced food court, and the two market buildings to its side feel like an outdoor mall." Excuse me, but what part of MARKETPLACE does Mr. Stewart not understand?

The Festival for the Lion King is most definetly one of the best shows I have ever seen and I think it is worth $67 to just to see it.(altough I had an 8 day pass so more lik $30 :teeth: . I can't believe someone who has seen it would lump in the the phrase "a couple shows". Some friends went to AK last month and said they hated it. I was surprised and asked them if they did the Safari, fotlk, pocahontas, Tree of Life, dinosaur, everest. The answer, no, no, no, no, no. :rolleyes1 Thier response was "Well, we have zoo passes and we were tired." Next trip I advised try not to be a commando and actually give the place a try. As for the article, I think its great!! Maybe a few less people will be there next time we go! :hourglass By the way that Magic Kingdom place really SUCKS too and is TERRIBLE for families. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Before I went to the Animal Kingdom, I was inclined to think I would spend a maximum of about 4 hours there and then head over to MK or Epcot. I was pleasantly surprised, and was entertained for the entire 9 hours I was there. At the full one-day ticket price it is a lot to pay for the park (which closes earlier than the other ones), but with a multiday ticket, it is definately worth it. Maybe the journalist's problem is that he has never actually been there, but is relying on what he reads in the brochures?

First of all...what an idiot. Their previous slogan "Nahtazu" should have been enough to inform him that it's NOT a zoo. It's apparent that he's never been there before. To be honest, AK is not our favorite park, but it's MUCH more worthwhile than a typical zoo...why? Because it's NOT a zoo!!

But second, and most importantly to me....he's more than welcome to keep telling people to avoid the park. While he's at it, he can add the other three parks as well. Makes it much emptier for ME!! :lmao:

I know this is a radical opinion, but I prefer AK to MGM. My whole family likes AK more than MGM.:confused3 So, it just goes to show that everyone has different tastes. I hope this article influences more people to "hurry thru" AK (don't want them to skip it altogether, less money for AK = less money spent on upkeep for AK).

Though I have to say AK on a hot, humid, crowded day is one of the more unpleasant things in life:crazy2: .

Ok I'm sorry but AK is not worth what they charge for a 1 day ticket i happen to agree. You can see more animals at other places and since it only takes a half day to see everything there including Everest twice I really do think AK really isn't worth the price of admission.

Disney is my favorite place but they really don't need to charge that much money for AK.

Disney needs to Lower prices not keep increasing them. Them parks and attractions will be pointless as families won't be able to afford to see them.

First off, virtually nobody would be paying $67 for a one day pass to any disney park unless they're an absolute moron. Secondly, for many people, the cost of a day in AK ticket wise is $2, which is under $10. . And if you're already buying hoppers, you needent spend all day there. We thought the zoo in Tampa worth it, but it was more than 10 bux. And we liked AK better.

Yet another example of a shoddy journalist that didn't do the homework necessary to write a good article rather than a bad one.

i myself love AK. and if the readers of this guy's article follow his advice, that's okay - more room for us to walk around and less time we have to stand waiting in line for those people who really don't want to be there!!

Yup. More AK for us!!!
