11 nights of dining 11/21 to 12/1 with pictures

We went here on our MVMCP night. It is just the typical burgers & fries type place. Nothing too special. The kids enjoyed the toppings bar especially the nacho cheese sauce. I'm not a fastfood burger person so, I ordered the hot dog. I think, I'm gonna have to try the Casey on our next trip to compare. I wasn't too impressed with Cosmic Rays and I doubt we'll got back.

We spent our 1st night at All Stars Movies. For breakfast we ate at World Premiere Food Court. Normally, we stay in a DVC unit so, we are use to making an easy breakfast. However, I wanted to see the themes at the All Star resort and thought since we arrive so, late that this would be a great way to spend one night here. Now, I was expecting a lot from the food court and was disappointed. I'm thinking lunch and dinner must be better. The food was average.

DD11 got a cinnamon roll and banana...

Dh got the breakfast platter. He said that it was good but he had to share since dd7 didn't get enough food so, he wasn't happy.

I decided to have oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar with a banana that I shared with dd7. It was good like I make at home.

DD7 got eggs & bacon with applesauce. The portion size was WAY too small. She also got chocolate milk. Everyone had to share with her. Breakfast is one of her biggest meals.

This is our 1st trip to Disney World where we stayed most of the time offsite. We really wanted to experience other parts of Orlando but realized we really love WDW onsite. We spent 1 night at All Star Movies, then, 7 nights at the Marriott Grande Vista and then, 3 nights at the Swan. We loved being onsite at the Swan. One morning we went to Epcot. It was so nice to be able to leave the room at 8 am and stop for breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery and be at the back gates of Epcot by 8:45 am. If we wanted to do that staying offsite where we did we would had to leave a lot earlier. We really like the freedom of walking back and forth to our room. I guess, driving just doesn't excite us.

Anyways... we had breakfast at the Broadwalk Bakery. We liked the food here better than World Premiere Food Court.

Dh had the Cheese Danish:

DD11 had the chocolate chip muffin:

DD7 had the blueberry muffin:

I had the Egg Crossiant Sandwich:

We thought the portion sizes were very big. This is important as I think you do a lot of walking at WDW and you need to have good hearty breakfast...

One morning we did the garden tour in Living with the Land. If you love to garden this tour would be right up your alley. I liked that they allowed photos and kids on the tour. I think, it was the highlight of the week for the girls. After the tour, we went to Sunshine Seasons for lunch. We all pretty much ordered the same thing. Ham and Salami Sandwich. We got 3 adult sized versions and one kids' meal. We also shared fruit salad and 3 bean salad. This sandwich was very good. The bread was very tasty. They added oil/vinagrette to the sandwich. It made it taste very good. We'll definitely eat here again:

Sorry, I didn't do the review in the order we ate them but I had a little computer trouble. My hard drive was too full for me to load all my pictures and my laptop died on me. But all is fix now as I have an external hard drive to store my pictures.

To recap we ate at the following places in order:

World Premiere Food Court (Breakfast)
Cosmic Rays (Dinner)
Main Street Bakery (snack)

Garden View Tea Room (late lunch)
Yorkshire County Fish Shop (dinner)
Boulangerie Patisserie (snacks)

Sci Fi (Lunch)
Hollywood Brown Derby (dinner)

Space Kennedy Center for lunch
Rose & Crown Pub (dinner)

Flame Tree BBQ (lunch)
Yak & Yeti (dinner)

Cinderella's Royal Table (late breakfast)
Kona Cafe (dinner)

Captain Grille (Thanksgiving Dinner)

Flying Fish Cafe (Dinner)

Boardwalk Bakery (breakfast)
Sunshine Seasons (lunch)
Biergarten (dinner)

Crystal Palace (breakfast)
San Angel Inn (dinner)
Boulangerie Patisserie (snacks)

Spoodles (Breakfast)

Overall... we had a wonderful dining experience with WDW. We were generally happy with all our meals. We did have challenges with dd11 who was having a hard time deciding between kids' meals or adult meals. I was happy we were not on the dining plan as I don't think she would have gotten a good value out of it for dd11. We did purchase the Tables in Wonderland card to use at the sitdown restaurants. It was not accepted at Yak & Yeti though.

We had a few surprises like Biergarten & San Angel Inn. We really enjoyed these two places. We were disappointed with a few places but those were far and few inbetween.

Next, up I'll be visiting WDW in a little over 6 months. I'll be making reservations at the end of this month as my 180 days will be up. We are hoping to try some new places like Restaurant Marrakesh, Chefs de France, Tutto Italia Ristorante, and a couple snack places I missed like the Joy of Tea & Kringla Bakery...

So, I'll be living through those food reports until our next trip. Thanks for letting me share my story...:cloud9:

Wow great updates and thanks for the reviews. Glad you got to eat at Brown Derby anyway, and your San Angel pictures came out great (mine were quite dark).

Thanks for the great reviews!
Glad you enjoyed Biergarten - my family thought it was great and we, too loved the entertainment.:goodvibes
We had lunch at CRT this past summer and although we had to wait a little while to get in and meet Cinderella, the food and service were excellent if you feel like going back for a different meal.:thumbsup2
I know what you mean about the Italian / Mexican food. I definitely live where there is good Italian food and Americanized Mexican food.

Side note: When I was younger, I was a girl scout and worked very hard one year to make a gingerbread house - the dog ate it!

Really enjoyed your reviews!
Glad you liked San Angel. When we tried it, we were pleasantly suprised too!
The food was great and we really like the atmosphere, although it is a little dark.

He asked the waitress if they really had salad in England and this started a long conversation about her home and here, etc while she served us our various courses.
You know, I just always assumed they would eat salads in England and now, you have got me to thinking that maybe they don't. So, don't leave us hanging...........do they or don't they? :rotfl:

Okay... I was a little nervous eating here with all the bad press this place gets. We arrived and we were seated immediately. It took a while for the waitress to show up but once she did we got our drinks as soon as we ordered them. Out came a basket of chips and a very, very mild salsa.

Oh, let me preface that I'm from California and I've noticed East coast Mexican is like West Coast Italian. The best place to get Italian in my opinion is the East Coast. Here on the West coast we have alot of chain restaurants that get us thinking we are eating Italian when we are not. I feel the same with Mexican. The East Coast just doesn't have it not like here on the West Coast.

Are those chips for real? They look like tostitos and the salsa looks jarred. That would just set me up to expecting a bad meal. I mean, heck, if they can't even give you real chips and salsa I would be worried about the quality of the food that was to come. So, it was really good?

I grew up on the west coast and after moving to the east coast I went through withdrawals over not being able to find real mexican food. All the places out here were just garbage. Thankfully, we found this amazing one that was opened and is operated by a mexican family and the menu is loaded with so many delicious and authentic foods. And you are right, I had no idea what italian food was till I came out here!! It really is more then just spaghetti and pizza!!! :rotfl:

She never answered our salad question. She said that everyone eats salad. Maybe they were the inventors of mixed green salads. Now, you got me wondering where the mixed green salad originated from.

Yep... the chips and salsa did look pathetic and they were. I don't usually fill up on the breads, chips, etc stuff because I want the main meal or appetizer instead. But your description of them is pretty accurate... I gotta let the readers form their own opinions, too...

Now you got me wondering also!! :rotfl2: So, I googled it.

Almost exactly three hundred years ago Londoners could buy the first English-language book on how to make a salad.................... not one of his readers was ready to try a salad. Everyone agreed with the wisdom of the ages: civilized people just didn't eat salads. They ate meat and grains. Raw greens were for animals and savages. For the civilized, they offered no nutrition. Besides, they made you sick to the stomach when they rotted in your gut, just like they rotted on the compost heap. http://www.cheftalk.com/content/display.cfm?articleid=78

Food historians tell us salads (generally defined as mixed greens with dressing) were enjoyed by ancient Romans and Greeks. As time progressed, salads became more complicated. Recipes varied according to place and time. Dinner salads, as we know them today, were popular with Renaissance folks. Composed salads assembled with layers of ingredients were enjoyed in the 18th century. They were called Salmagundi. Today they are called chef's salad.

Aw...... thanks... I just read your Vegas report. I had no idea Disney was even in VEGAS. I loved the Delmonico Restaurant as well. Once Dh and I got to stay at the 4 Seasons (one dh's clients sent us) at the top of the Mandalay Bay Hotel. Very nice place...

When we had lunch at SAI we were served hot Tostitos chips and although they were the bagged grocery variety serving them hot with nice and cold salsa was very good!
