We are booked for the 11 night Southern Caribbean cruise in June. We have not cruised with Disney in quite some time & are overwhelmed by the quantity and cost of excursions. Any opinions on which ones are worth it? Any suggestions for which islands it's not worth it to book an excursion-some that have beaches or shopping we could just go on our own-that type of thing. Thank you!

"Need More Information" - Number 5 (is alive)

are you: Active, Tour, Shopping or something else type of people?

for me:
city / island tours = usually NOT
shopping = Heck NO - I can do that at home
Beach = maybe
Snorkeling = Usually - Barbados has some of the clearest waters we have snorkeled in - and that's saying something
Zip lining = Oh Yea!
River Tubing = Yes again (Grenada - I think that there its also available in Jamaica)
Exploring old Fortresses (and other historical sites) = Yes, they amaze me and my family
Eating Local = always up for trying something out --- but the "cheap" part of me tries to make it back to the ship - because it's paid for!!
Kayaking = yes we will
Hiking = sometimes -- not in summer in the Caribbean!

If you're willing to do some homework, I've found that excursions I arrange myself after researching on TripAdvisor and CruiseCritic, are almost always a small fraction of the cost of DCL excursions. Frequently for smaller groups and longer times as well. As for the Southern Caribbean, I can't help you there. Some folks worry about being left by the ship, but I've always felt that these excursion companies have every motivation to get you to the ship as well. In the age of internet, if they missed your sail away, the world would know, making it less likely they'll get any more clients. And we always plan to be back a good 60-90 minutes before the drop dead time anyways.
