Does anyone know what dates start the 11-month booking window for a vacation that ends at the end of a month?

For example, a vacation ending Jan 31, 2002. Does the 11 month booking window begin on Feb 28, 2001, which is actually 11 months, 3 days?

Or does it begin in March sometime?

Thanks

I was just reading this about two days ago. I'm a new member through a resale and have still been going through the member book that I received.

Right below the table on Page 8 it states:

"If there are no dates that correspond directly to the reservation check out date, then the last day of the month is when reservations may be requested. For example, a Member who wishes to check out on January 31, 1998 may request that reservation on February 28, 1997."

If you hear of a more recent guideline, let me know. I hope this helps.

Theoretically that is correct, but when I tried to make our ressies this Feb. for next Jan., they wouldn't let me do it. I couldn't make the ressie for the 30th until Feb. 3!

Disneydiane, do you mean March 3 rather than February 3? I thought the problems were with making reservations for January 29, 30, and 31 where the 11-month window would open at the end of February (on Feb. 29, 30, and 31 if such existed :D) and that the MS computer system was not able to handle this. There was a thread on this board at that time indicating that a change in the computer program was needed. See web page. (I think the business rule described in the Guidebook was not translated correctly by the programmer who did the implementation; I assure you this can happen ;), since I see my students misinterpret program requirements all the time when I teach introductory computer programming classes.) A later entry in the thread indicated that they had finally gotten things straightened out.

Thanks bbrazeal. You're right, That statement is in the guidelines. Thanks for pointing it out. I even looked at some earlier guidebooks and it was there also, so that should be the official rules.

Diane: Thanks. What you said is what I've heard before. And it never made sense to me. Under that example, it seems if you had a ressie checkout on Jan 31st, you couldn't make it until the prior Mar 3rd. However, if you were staying one day longer to Feb 1st, then you could make the ressie on Mar 1st, 2-days earlier. That just wouldn't make sense.

Ralph, thanks for pointing out the other thread. Sounds like they've got it fixed now.

The reason I even brought it up is because I'm creating an Excel program that will display the ressie window based on a check-out date. Using MS Excel's formula and entering a Jan 31 date, it also returned Mar 3rd as being 11 months prior.

I wonder if Disney hired a bunch of Microsoft's programmers.... :D

Looks like I'll have to create a custom formula for my Excel spreadsheet.

We made ressies for the 27th of Jan until Feb. 1 this past Feb/Mar. I was calling day by day for these days as I wanted a standard view. On Feb 28th, according to the rules in the guidebook, I should have been able to make the ressie for all but the last day. The cm's at ms (I called a few times...trying to play the "call til you get the answer you want" game that so often needs to be done with Disney) and they could not put anything into the computer past 1/28/02. I was also told that I would not be able to get my reservation for 1/31 until March 3rd, which turned out to be incorrect. On March 1st I was able to finish the reservation....1/29-2/1.

I think if I'm in the same situation again I will still try to make the ressie on the dates the guidebook says to make them (even though ms seemed to get annoyed at me for pointing this out and trying to verify that the rules did not match their computers) but I won't be surprised if the problem with their computers isn't fixed either.
