11 month window question&availability

I just got off the phone w/ MS- (9:04am) I had called to begin a day to day reservation at the start of my 11 month window; which I thought began today -- it's tomorrow check out day of first day. when I initially told the CM our dates she told me I needed to wait til the final check out day to make the reservation. I explained I was going to do a day to day reservation to ensure availability; she said hold on let me check availability to see if you need to do that. I was confused and said so b/c at the first day of the 11 month window I would think all inventory would be available other than rooms taken out of service for rehab? Her response was a non response "well," You should call first thing Monday morning. Now this was a definite change from you wait until the check out day to reserve. When I questioned this her response was less than convinving agreement.

Here's my question, is it possible, that inventory is set aside for CRO reservations before the 11 month window? Is there some other reason rooms
would be unavailable prior to the 11 month booking window other than the rehab rotation?

The CM was either confused or mistaken. If you were calling at the 7 month window, her statements would make sense, but not at the 11 month window.

I assume you are calling for a reservation at one of the smaller on site DVC resorts or want a Grand Villa at OKW. If not, I agree with the CM - no need to call day by day at the 11 month window to get something at SSR or at OKW (other than for the Grand Villa).

On Monday, you will be able to reserve the nights of 11/16, 11/17, and 11/18.

No member inventory is given to CRO before or even at the 11 month mark. This is the majority of rooms at the sold out DVC resorts.

Rooms that represent the percentage of ownership that Disney retains in each DVC resort may be given to CRO at any time, but that is a very small percentage of the rooms and even those are generally not sent to CRO at the 11 month mark (Disney usually keeps them available until much closer to the actual date to cover administrative problems such as unexptected maintenance issues or overbooking).

Developer inventory (capacity that has not yet been sold/declared into member inventory) may be given to CRO at any time, but it is unlikely to see it there too far ahead of time. The Developer has to have inventory to sell and will keep some "reserve" in case sales go better than expected.

Anyway - if you want to do day by day, call again on Monday. I'm sure you will get a CM who is (hopefully) more experienced.

I would disagree with no need to do it day by day at the 11 month window. Last year I waited to my check out date to book and the week I wanted was full. So I had to do the following week day by day. I have never had a problem checking in day by day, so I do not understand the CM's comments to you. Good Luck

I called at the 11 month window to check availability at OKW to see if I should book day by day or wait until the end and book it (I was looking to book a one-bedroom for next Halloween week). The CM at Member Services told me there were plenty of rooms available, but went ahead and opened the reservation for me anyway (at her suggestion, not mine). She even finished up the phone call by humorously saying, "talk to you tomorrow."

Just curious - which dates, resort & room size?

I booked BWV day by day for a 1 bedroom standard or boardwalk view for late Nov/early Dec 3 or 4 times with no problem. The cm's were more than willing to do it.

I booked VWL at the 7 month with no problem (studio) for May.

I'm booking a GV and two studios at OKW for 11/17/06 - 11/25/06; I've planned all along to book day by day as this extended family trip has been planned since 11/04 the last time we took this side of the family down. My real concern and question was the indication that the CM was going to check availability on days I as a home resort owner could not yet book at the 11 month window (I was off by One day on my day to day count to start booking). My main question was could CRO book earlier than home resort owners at the 11 month window, because that's the only way I thought there could be something to cause such availability issues.
