In most situations I recommend a cushion of at least 10%, often 20% and sometimes more. If one is targeting a studio in low season you need a big cushion, likely more than 20% but if one is looking at a 2 BR premier season in a more expensive resort, you likely don't need a cushion and may actually want to underbuy.It's like those back in the day who bought just enough points for the low point weekday rooms - usually standard view. Then DVC reallocated and left a lot of people without enough points for the stays they had bought for. It's always good to have some cushion since no particular rooms are guaranteed.
