Hi There,

Planning a Fall 2008 trip and will need to book this November. I plan to book BWV at the eleven month window, but want to try for BCV at the 7 month window.

Can I hold two ressies for the same time ? I do not want to give up a BW view ressie for a BC ressie that I may not get all five days in a row. I would cancel the BWV as soon as the BCV ressie is complete.

If I borrow from the next years points to make the second ressie is there any penalty?

Can anyone advise me what to do?

Yes, you can hold two reservations at one time but you will need to have available points for both. One set of points can't hold two different reservations at the same time.

It sounds like you are doing day by day reserving at the 7 month window at BCV? If so, you can book the first day and cancel the first day of BWV. Please note that some have experienced problems as the existing reservation gets cancelled to free up the points and then a few seconds later the room that was available at the new resort was not there. So the member didn't get the new resort room and lost their original room too! Really a problem that Disney needs to fix as a high priority, IMHO. But for all the times people do this, we've only heard of this problem a few times. Still, once is too many times for something like this.

There is no penalty, but those points cannot be returned to their original use year...ever. If the UY timing works out, you can borrow the points for the second reservation and then cancel the original reservation. That way, the situation in the first comment above can't happen to you. You could then bank the points used for the original reservation into the following UY and you end up where you started. Except you now have points in two UYs that cannot be moved.

Can anyone advise me what to do?
If you are confident in your trip planning and don't anticipate changes, the borrowing points to make the second reservation is the safest. But if you think there is a reasonable chance you will be cancelling the trip, you will probably want to just take the risk of the first scenario. At least that way, you still have full banking/borrowing capabilities on your two years worth of points.

Good luck! :)

Yes, of course. It's no different than reserving multiple rooms for a family reunion.

No penalty, but you may have some point gymnastics to do, and there can be complications. The big key to your options is your Use Year.

You would make your BWV ressie with current year points, using borrowed (or some borrowed) points for the waitlist nights. There are really two scenarios there.

One is that you are within your banking window when the waitlist comes through. In that case, the borrowed points are already used for the ressie you're keeping, so you simply cancel the BWV ressie and bank the points.

However...if you are beyond your banking deadline, you're going to lose some points. You can't "un-borrow," and if you're past your deadline, you will not be able to bank the current year points.

Keep in mind that both the banking deadlines and waitlist policies have recently changed, and those changes may affect you.

Waitlists are now automatically filled; they no longer call you prior to filling the waitlist. That means, if you waitlist day-by-day, you could have some filled (and points borrowed) and others not filled and you could end up with an unmanageable mess.

Also, the 100-50-25% banking windows are gone. Now, you can bank 100% of your points for the first 8 months of your UY...but nothing after that. I don't know how that would work out with your UY...but you need to consider that. It may help, or it may hurt.
