11/30/06...The Wonder

Hi, Looks like we'll be joining you all! We (Me, Husband, 8 yr old daughter, & 10 yr old son) are 1st time Disney travelers and are new to these boards. We are doing a land & sea package as well. Staying at POR prior to the cruise. I've really enjoyed reading all the great info & tips from everyone. Wondering if any of the children would like to say "Hi" before the trip. My kids would love to have an pen/e-mail pal.

:welcome: to the DISBoards!! So this is your first Disney trip?? You are going to love it!! We stayed at POFQ, right down the river from POR, last year. It was a great area!

My kids are quite a bit younger than yours, so the pen pal thing won't work out for us.

It is getting so close. Is anyone else really excited

I have seen some of you on the thread regarding Atlantis for $124 + tax. I booked it on Friday without putting too much thought into it. I didn't want to risk a price increase and decided that I would rather pay a $25 cancellation fee than miss the opportunity. It will be me, DH, DS 4.5 and DS 3.5. I understand that my boys will probably not meet the height requirement for the big slides, but I think I have read that there are baby slides. Can anyone confirm? Also, are the pools heated?

TIA

I can't answer your question about the baby slides but I'm flipping through an Atlantis package I got in the mail a year or so back and it says "11 swimming areas cater to every whim, with zero-entry and children's pools, free-form and formal pools, and the 7-acre protected Paradise Lagoon, a great location for snorkeling or enjoying non-motorized water toys". They also have a lazy river ride on innertubes which would probably be a nice thing for your family to do.

I've seen it mentioned that the pools are not heated but someone on another board who lives in the Bahamas said the pool temps in early Dec should be around 80 degrees (in fact, he said he was going to check his pool this afternoon to see what the current temp was).

I still haven't decided if I'm going to jump on this offer yet but I'm pretty sure I will, if only we could forecast the weather for 12/1!!

Not sure what took me so long to find this thread!

We're on this cruise as well - a first cruise for all of us - myself, DD8 and her dad! We're very excited about it. We're spending the week beforehand at AKL and a few days afterward at HRH. Yes, 2 weeks out of school... someone mentioned being concerened about that... Talk to the teacher - our school gives traveling children a whole folder of stuff to complete when they are pulled out of school for vacation. They keep a journal, fill out information about the states they visit, local foods, all kinds of learning opportunities... and then report back to the class about everything they learned. I think my daughter is looking forward to teaching the class as much as she is the vacation! :lmao:

Hi Cruise Buddies! I can't wait until the 30th! This is my first cruise and I have a question for some of you cruise veterans out there. I have 3 kids...ages 4, 8 and 12. I signed up for a couples massage on the afternoon of the 30th...the day we board ship. I'm worried about leaving the 4 year old without parental supervision while we shamelessly spoil ourseves. Ok, I'm not so worried that I would cancel the massage but I would like to know if the kids club is open that early on the the first day?

HI Big Mike!

Found a link (below) for a Day 1 Personal Navigator itinerary for the same 3-night Wonder cruise that's only about 3 weeks old. Looks like late afternoon is all about registrations/confirmations on Day 1 (up until dinnertime anyway). We took this cruise for our honeymoon 8 years ago so the Oceaneer's Club is new to us with my 5 year-old too!

Hope this helps! Jamie

p.s. Where is Charlton anyway?

I seem to recall reading somewhere - maybe it was the online forms - that it opens around 6 or 7pm the first night.

I'm happy to see there are more disBoards people on the cruise :thumbsup2 I'm thinking about doing a door sign, though DH thinks I'm crazy!! Feel free to stop and say hello though, if you see my sign

I just got my cruise docs :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I gotta tell you, I jumped up and down when I saw our names on the luggage tags :goodvibes

I hope that is true cause I made our Palo reservation for the first night.

Glad to hear people are getting their cruise docs for this cruise - we leave a week prior to the cruise... can't wait to see that stuff!!

I just confirmed with DCL that for the 3-Night Bahamian cruise on the Disney Wonder, Youth Activities are available on or after 7:00 PM on night of embarkation. :)

We got our documents just now! Woohoo!! I jumped up and down at our front door when I realized what it was....hubby thinks I've lost my marbles! :teeth:

Hi, all!

I'm getting very excited; only slightly over 2 weeks left! :hyper: I hope to see some of you onboard, though I'm really shy and probably wouldn't say anything, lol. I have a couple of questions...

1) I heard that there's Pin Trading onboard, is this true? If so, is it a good place for a first-timer to start?

2) Is there a way to make it to the evening movie if you have the second dining rotation?

Thanks for the help and hope to see some of you! :goodvibes

Thanks Jamie! That link plus everyone's comments really helped my plans.

BTW, Charlton is in south central MA between Worcester and Sturbridge

Rachie0507,
I think door signs are a great idea. My kids are bouncing off the walls and this gives them something to do while they're waiting. What are thinking about for a decoration?

Hi Mike!

I haven't decided what kind of sign yet. I was thinking of having my DD6 do most of the work. We probably have our family name, my disBoards name and drawings/stickers on it. I'll try to talk DD into using Lime Green for the writing but she is big fan of pink!!

Off topic, but, I'm from North-Central Massachusetts!! I guess it really is a small world :goodvibes On our last cruise, I ended up getting a pedicure right next to a woman who lives twenty minutes from me!

ETA--I'm an idiot!! As soon as I posted this I realized DD still doesn't know we are going :rotfl2: . I guess I'll have to do the work myself ;)

I can't answer your first question, if there's pin trading it's much less noticeable than at the parks. Hopefully someone else here can answer your question or you might want to post it on the cruise forum for a quick answer.

I checked our navigators from last year and there was always a movie that started at 10:45 so you should be able to catch a late night movie after dinner (we have second dining rotation this time).

Two weeks to go!!

(Woohoo, I finally hit post # 1000!!) :teeth:
