Just in case you need a laugh:

Remember it takes a college degree to fly a plane, but only a high school diploma to fix one; a reassurance to those of us who fly routinely in our jobs. After every flight, UPS pilots fill out a form, called a 'gripe sheet,' which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight.

Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by UPS ' pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance
engineers.

By the way, UPS is the only major airline that has never, ever, had an accident.

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.
*
P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.
*
P: Something loose in cockpit
S: Something tightened in cockpit
*
P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.
*
P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.
*
P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.
*
P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable
level.
*
P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what friction locks are for.
*
P: IFF inoperative in OFF mode.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.
*
P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.
*
P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search
*
P: Aircraft handles funny.
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right and be serious.
*
P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.
*
P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.
*
And the best one for last...
*
P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.

My husband Rick and I own a new small trucking company. we have three trucks as of now. Rick drives himself 5-6 days a week.

I used to be a pre k teacher and then stayed at home with the boys three years ago. I just started back as an aid at a Nursert school just to get me out of the house but again will be looking for work after the cruise.

I don't know how you did the pre-k....takes a lot more patience than I have. Do you like the nursery school? My uncle has a trucking company, so I know that hard work...and the hours suck too. Or at least his does, weekend, and really early mornings.

Hey folks!

One last note before we head to the airport. It is Thursday morning here already, and Thursday is a great day!:thumbsup2 So, when it reaches you guys, just know that it will be a great day!;)

Next post will be coming from Russia. Hopefully I will be able to upload some pictures in the next few days.

Happy Flights!! And looking forward to your pics!!!

I own my own Public Relations/Communications consultancy (after a quarter century in the evil corporate world doing corporate communications). Mina (my wife) works at an academic medical center as a project manager (she formerly was the director of managed care until going part time just before DD number two came along).

Sounds like complicated jobs!! What exactly is communicatioons consultancy? What do you tell people or companies?

I am an Executive Assistant for the Southern Nevada Water Authority and we own an Italian Cafe that my DH works in 14 hours a day:faint:

I love italian food. If we come to Vegas this year, we may have to check it out. It's on our list of places to go soon. We got engaged there, in a limo cruisiing the strip.

Hi BFF-NV:lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

Steph, I am a respiratory therapist or as I like to tell my BFF's I save lives for a living(at least when the sick nagging patients leave me alone long enough so I can check the DIS and text my BFF's) and my DH is a mechanic.

Cheri, how did dinner turn out?:rolleyes1

And to my bestest BFF, thanks for talking me off the ledge...love ya!!

Unfortunately, we are very familiar with your line of work. I have a Stepson with CF. And I agree- you do save lives!!!

I loved the Pre School. Well not the school but the job yes. I HATE the Nursery school. I'm glad I only work till the end of Oct. It gives me a little money for excursions.

All the ladies their have worked together in that school for 25-38 years. I cant believe. The things they do are so outdated to what kids can really do and no one really takes to me . I sit a lunch while they talk to themselves about everything and I'm sitting there feeling like an A**. No attempt to include me. I have tried but it goes no where.
Plus this one lady keep reminding me that I am only the AID their. What the heck.

That is killing me because I'm used to being the head teacher and having an aid or assistant and I never made them feel like they were lower then me.

I just don't understand some people.

So I will have off the 2 weeks before the trip to get stuff togather. I cant wait.

The boys made a paper chain last night in the cruise colors to count down to the day we leave here for FL.

Rick has worked all hours , all days and usually the full 14 hours they are allowed by law. This is really killing the trying to have a baby time.

Steph, I am tonya (DW) and my DH is Trey. We will be cruising with my DS Hunter. Hunter will be 12 when we depart. My Husband is a fleet manager for a trucking company. I work as a Legal Assistant to two attorneys. During the evening hours we referee soccer and I am the Outdoor assignor for our local soccer park. (I get to tell the referees where to go). :thumbsup2 The soccer allows us to go on trips. Plus, we have great stories about crazy parents.

All is good here. After this weekend we have 3 weeks left of soccer. Yahoo. It couldn't get over too soon.

Good night all, looking forward to seeing you all soon.

::banana:

I hear you about the soccer. As a kid, we did a lot of sports. DS isn't old enough yet, but we are thinking golf!! :goodvibes

Steph,

I work at spending my husbands pay check:lmao: Its a great job:thumbsup2
I use to cook in restaurants then bought a pizza place called Fat Rosas and owned and ran it.
DH is a Operations manager for a construction company.

Great to hear form you Bob;)

Good night everyone,
Kathy

I also spend my husbands pay check...on traveling!! Like this cruise...

Steph,

I am Lisa and I work for NASA at Kennedy Space Center as a quality engineer on the International Space Station program. DH Steve is a computer networks design engineer/projects engineer with Abacus out at Kennedy Space Center. We are very blessed to live so close to Disney and Port Canaveral. I wish we had a couple more cruise lines going out of the Port here, like for instance Princess and Norwegian, as they are probably the next best to Disney (I think that of Norwegian anyway because I've been on that line; I've only heard about Princess.) The only other two lines here are Carnival and RCCL, neither of which impressed us customer service-wise. It's really hard to beat Disney in that department!

We are very much looking forward to meeting you and all the rest of the folks.

 :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:

Sounds like you both have really exciting jobs. I would love to work for NASA, do they hire chemists? it really interests me, and I would love to live that close to all the ships...DH might not, b/c we'd be broke!! We have toured Houston, but never been to Kennedy. Maybe when we come down in February we can.

Jeff, let me know if you get into BW or BC. I tried for months to get in, but never found those days open.

I was able to book it directly through Disney, but the cheapest for both BC & BW was over $400 per night!

Yesterday a flex change through II came up for a 2br @ Horizon's by Marriott next to Seaworld, so I took it!! A 3br at Grand Vista came up on flex also, but my wife made me take Horizon's because its got the pirate ship water park for the kids! :rolleyes1

Hey Greg- we can't get in using points but we can pay. As there are only four of us, we only need a hotel room or studio at the villas. So we are considering:

Beach Club hotel
Beach Club villas
Boardwalk Inn
Swan

Swan is the best price - espcially if we do the pre-pay no cancellation option...but I just get nervous doing that. So we're torn. Gotta make a decision soon though before we get completely shut out. May book Boardwalk Inn and then monitor the Swan til it gets closer. We may also get ourselves on waiting list for BCV, BWV, AKL and VWL just in case somehting opens.

Sounds like complicated jobs!! What exactly is communicatioons consultancy? What do you tell people or companies?

OMG not complicated at all. Best way to describe what I do is that I am a writer by training and education so I do a lot of that. And I tell companies how to communicate to their employees, their customers and how to use the news media to spread their message widely.
