We may have to finally try Universal when we are at WDW in June. I'm not sure if I posted it here, but Elizabeth is in a performance dance group this year and they have been invited to dance at Disney. They will be dancing at Downtown Disney sometime between June 20 and 24. They also are going to dance at Seaworld (we've never been here either - just in San Diego) during that same time period. Then we are going to stay at AKV for the rest of the week and maybe it will be a good time to try Universal for one day.

I have been to Universal in California many times but never this one.

We love Disney World and have been there many times but we really enjoy Universal Orlando...Island of Adventure is our favorite park...very relaxed, easy to get around and the themeing is so much fun. We plan on going back once the Harry Potter section opens up. Sea World is after changing a lot over the past few years and is also a lot of fun.

I think your family would love Universal. They have attractions for all ages.
it really takes a day to do each side unless you want to run all day long.

I loved the ET ride until I got stuck once for 45 minutes next to him beating on a drum!!!

Sea Wolrd is great fun too. DONT miss Clyde and Seymore show!!!

We got stuck on the ET ride too...Kierra was not impressed!

a question for those who use credit cards for points and perks.

we have the Disney chase and it gives 1% back with Disney points which we use on the cruise. You can only use them at Disney themed places.


We, (meaning I do all the reasearch), UGH!! am looking for a new card that offers cash back NOT air miles or gift cards.

I want one with a higher percentage than we have now and cash back. I have seen them from 2% to 5% but some have catches to them, when you read the fine print.
Also NO annual fee.
Everyone wants the lowest percentage rate but we pay it off each month so that isnt a huge issue.

I want the cash back to use for vacations. Some give 2% for gas & Groceries but not the discount super markets and weird things like that. Of course everything else is 1% standards. I am working towards the 2010 cruise with this.

Ok, here is the question.


Do you have a cash back credit card that you are happy with and would recommend??

I am looking for some advice here before I pick one to apply for. I meet the qualifications for excellant credit for some companies and only good credit on others. They all look for something different on how they base your credit, not just your credit score.


i figure the gas to move back to Florida for 2 vehicles will give us a great boost for points.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.Kathy

I know I can't be much help since our credit card offers are different here but I have a credit card through a Supermarket...there is no annual fee and even though I don't get cash back but I get a lot of points which can be used on anything in the store including their travel company. Most of the grocery stores here offer cars like that.

Hi Jeff,

I think the Lady that called me from Disney yesterday didn't believe me at first when I explained to her all the things that happened and went wrong while we were there.

She had me fax copies our of tickets to her so she could "track" our movement from park to park. Then she looked at our reservations and charges made to my credit card.

After an hour or so she called back and apologized and said she had investigated the claims I made and determined that it was Disney's fault and tried to explain to me that there was another "Greg Campbell" at WDW that week and how our reservations got "mixed up" with his??!

So basically Disney was making unauthorized charges to my credit card for another Greg Campbell without my consent! (I totally don't understand how that should even be possible?!)

Anyway, I appreciate that they called and are trying to correct the mistake, but even if they offered to buy our airfare plus give us another 7 day hopper pass and give me an ultra exclusive unlimited fast pass so I don't have to stand in line for anything (if such a thing exists) I still wouldn't want to go back. Disney just wasn't our cup of tea.

Now if they let me exchange them for DCL reservations....we are so there!!

Ya, I know most of you reading this are gasping right now thinking I'm crazy.

Hey, the way I look at it is this....you either love disney or you dont.....I really dont think there is much in-between.....
I for one just love Disney....I have since I was 8 and went to Disneyland for the first time. I fell in love and and fell out of love with it. Like Jeff said....it let's me leave reality behind for a week and I can be 10 years old again. I know, I just turned 15 so that was'nt that long ago
Now, my ex- actually was so-so about disney....he did go because I would "force" him to go...but once there he liked it and would have a good time. Now my friend that I am seeing now....has never been and he really wants to go.....which I hope I can be the first one to "take" him. Then I can be excited with him. Which I'm sure only disney people understand.

So any new news with the rushmore trip?
How's the weather....bad here...cold and snowing....

I havnt been there since they put in the Simpson ride, it was Back to the Future and it was a good ride.

I love the Terminator 3D. I forgot all about it. I love the mix of live action and the 3D film. It gets pretty loud but really an excellant show!!

Jaws is corny but still a classic and easy for any age to do. Shrek was ok, but not as good as I had hoped.

Twister was fun if your in the front row it is much more effective though.

I dont have guts enough to do Spiderman on the other side. My entire family loves that ride.

I thought the same thing about Shrek. It was good, but not really anything to write home about.

Spiderman was allot of fun. Its just a 3D ride, its not a roller coaster and isn't really scary.......Brayden rode it probably 6-8 times.

We went to Sea World August 2007. We had 2 day passes. The boys did not want to go back. Been to Universal in both CA and FL. The boys love it but the problem is I can't ride virtually any of their rides. They are NOT handicap friendly. So there just isn't anything there for me and if I have to buy a ticket and not be able to do anything I'm not real encouraged to go there. We have to go with someone for the boys to be able to ride also. OK, off the soapbox.

I think you're right about Disney...you either love it or you don't....there's not much in between.

I was SO hoping we'd love it. My wife and I were ready to become DVC members before we got to the park. We'd been in contact with one of the DVC agents and had paper work ready to be signed for credits at the Animal Kingdom resort.

Rushmore is still on.

I'm still trying to narrow down where we're going to stay though?

We had kind of a freezing mist here this morning....had ice on everything.

Hi Kathy, I have a cash back card from Chase called the "perfect card" that's not to bad, but we really like our Discover miles card. Its an air miles card, but the miles never expire and they can be used for anything travel related.

Ours not only paid for our airfare to Orlando, but we had enough miles to pay for our cruise as well. You can get "cash back" with it also, but redeeming for travel gets you a better return.
