Yes, we'd love to come to the Sat. afternoon meet. I'll send the PM once I"ve done my 10 posts.

Hi Allison and BoundforDisney! My kids are looking forward to the clubs too, especially Eliana (7). David will be glad to have another older boy around as well. We've shown him stuff about the club for his age and he says he's not sure about it, but n the past he's always liked kids club type things, and they do seem to have video games, a plus! We took a Disney Cruise with him when he was 3 1/2 and I remember he loved the Kids Club then, and spent most of his time in it running around in a Buzz Lightyear costume playing on the computers. Fun memories :^)

Hi! Thanks for the tips about needing 10 posts for the PM thing. Do all 10 posts have to be on this thread or do previous posts elsewhere count? If nothing else, I figure at least this one will :^)
No, it's 10 posts anywhere. I was just saying you could do it here because we know what you are doing and wouldn't get annoyed (some people on the Dis get testy ).

There are definitely girls that are your DD's age. Mine is 9 but will be 6 weeks away from her 10th birthday. She never has problems playing with younger girls but I think your DD will be in the club level down from her. But I'm sure she'd love to play at the pool. :thumbsup2 My DD is like a little mother hen with younger girls. :goodvibes

Well, this is my 8th post anyhow. Yes, I think Eliana will be in the next club down. She turns 8 in Feb. She is a real fish, so I'm sure she'll be by the pool lots too!

Wow has this thread gotten active. This is great!!!! No more checking back for days and having to just post something to bump us off of page 2 (or 3 :scared1:)

Like everyone has said, just send me a quick PM if you can make it to our meet.

And to whomever asked about the time it takes to deliver fish extenders. Last year I think we had 38 cabins and it took our family about 30 minutes to do it. It was actually fun walking the decks and seeing everyone's door decorations, etc.

I think I just found out that we cleared the waiting list for our second day before the cruise at Boardwalk Villas using points! So now we can cancel the cash reservation we made and use that extra cash for drinks of the day on the ship! :cool1:

Yahoo!!! Jeff's buying! :cool1: (just kidding ;) )

On our last cruise we delivered gifts to the various cabins over a couple of days....decks 1 & 2 the first day, 5 & 6 the next and 7 & 8 on the third day. It worked well for us....

The FE thing seems really cool. I've been reading about it to try and get inspired. I'll have to talk to the hubster (who can be a bit of a party pooper--shhhh don't tell him I said that) before I can commit. The kids would think that was the coolest thing ever...Getting little "things" left at the room? And delivering them....Seems like FUN! I'll try and decide soon.

It'll be nice to meet up and let the kids "make some friends". I think that could really make or break their experience at the clubs.

Speaking of kids and clubs...some questions of the day...lol....(see, yesterday was excursions...today is kids clubs....hehe) I know...it can be a bit annoying...but being a newb I have lotsa questions...

Seasoned cruisers--Did your kids like the clubs? What age? What were their likes/dislikes? How much time did they spend there? Did they go in the evening ever? Fall asleep there?

Looks like (correct me if I'm wrong) I may have the youngest cruiser--Aubrey turned 1 September 14th...I'm still trying to plan if/when we'll use the nursery....:)

I've told the kids about the cruise...but I don't think they really 'get it'...I can't wait to see their excitement!!!!!

Sooo much to read, and plan out....Wooooot!

OH, last question...
Jeff- That tasting sounds great. Stuff like that--Are there any problems with availability when cruising?

Anyone have a link to the recent Navigators for a Magic Western?

P.S. I can't pretend I know exactly what your talking about with the Villa Jeff...;)...but it sounds like good news...so CONGRATS!

Extra drink money *envious*....Lucky you!

Jeff is a member of Disney Vacation Club (DVC). He had a room booked with cash at the Boardwalk because all the rooms at the Villas using points were already booked. He went on a waiting list in case someone from DVC cancelled their plans and apparently someone did & he got the room, so now he can cancel his cash reservation & use his points instead.

Yay, Jeff.:thumbsup2

By the way, :welcome:to all the new cruisers. DH, Jim (65) and I, Bev (55) will be cruising with you. We have 2 children (36 & 22) who will NOT be cruising with us. We are going by ourselves this year (took the 22 year old for his birthday & graduation from Automotive Training on a 4 night last year, which is when we rebooked for this one). The kids will be staying home and watching the house and animals for us.

From what I've seen so far, we are the only kidless people on Dis left on this thread. Originally there were a few more, but they seem to have gone on to other cruises.

Hi, everyone! Bev, I'm still here. Sorry I've been MIA. Have been preoccupied with our trip to WDW this weekend for the Race for the Taste 10k, while rehabbing a serious knee injury. Once I get past the race (on Sunday), I'll be focusing madly on the cruise. :yay: :woohoo:  and you'll all get sick of me.
DH Howard and I are doing this cruise without our DD21 and DS16. Our friends Judy and Charlie are also travelling kidless this trip. Woohoo!!!

Keenercam and Disholic - there is also a single gentleman traveling on our cruise. He hasn't posted much but he is part of the FE group! :thumbsup2

Steph - My DD turned 9 on our last cruise. She liked the club but kept having to make new friends every time she went. She liked the cooking one, the postcard one (pluto came in for pictures for the postcards) and she loved, loved, loved the Goofy Detective event. Oh and she despised the magic show. Apparently it insulted the intelligence of a 9 yo. it was that bad. She's not a magic afficionado but she said that even she knew how the tricks were done.

She never fell asleep there because she would only stay for one or two events. It may have been different if she had a sibling or a buddy to hang with. She didn't really hang with free time, she went more for the different activities. Oh, and she did do the Friendship Rocks show on the last sea day. Take your kids to that. They get free t-shirts!! :thumbsup2 and do a little show in the Buena Vista Theater. She loved that too!

Okay, I'm ready for the next questions. :goodvibes

I haven't been posting much till lately either. I've been busy with work & since DS moved out repainting his room, putting down parquette flooring & moving my sewing & craft stuff in. I am going to be starting to sew some outfits for the cruise. Have a vest cut out for DH to go with his Tux for semi-formal night & then I want to make a cumberbund for him to match the dress I am making for myself for formal night. Any excuse to dress up!
If I have time, I also will try to make some pirates outfits for us, too.

Are you going to the Dis meet at 2:45 the 1st day at the Promenade Lounge? If you do want to, PM "jd99" (Jeff) and let him know.

David was only 3 1/2 when we last went. Barely potty-trained. In fact we used the cruise as bait to train him by saying that "Mickey doesn't like diapers" and he couldn't do the kids club part unless he used the potty all the time. Anyhow, he loved the kids club, but didn't want to much during the day. he went a lot after dinner. He liked the active play and dressup stuff, and he loved lying down on the mats in the club watching movies after the other activities were over.

Kids clubs
My oldest (DD- now 11) has been in the clubs at various ages. Mostly she has really liked it. Sometimes I can't get her out of there - in fact one sea day, she went in for a specific activity around 3 p.m., we dragged her out for dinner with us and she went back and didn't come out until after midnight! DD(now 5) LOVED Flounders when she was just shy of being able to go to the club. Her first time in the club, she did okay but did interrupt our spa villa time by having us paged coz she was sad. The last cruise we were on, she wanted to go to the club more than we wanted to send her there. Lots depends on the counselors with the little one and with the other kids with my oldest. Once my oldest makes a friend or two, she get their cabin numbers and then they call each other to find out when they will each be back in the club/lab/oceanquest so they can coordinate schedules...

Oh and Steph - as mentioned above my little one loved loved loved Flounders. She would probably go back there today if they let five year olds in. She was about 2 1/2 and got to "help" the counselors with the babies - really she just followed them around but they really made her feel like she was a junior counselor!

We have always been able to get into any tasting we want. I even signed up moments before a martini tasting once because I found myself with nothing going on - kids and DW were going to Tea with Alice and some DIS friends (nanaheads) were going to the tasting, so I went to front desk, paid for a ticket and off I went.

OKay, this makes post #10, so I can sent the PMs about the FE and the meetup on Sat. afternoon. Anyone know of a good place to buy an doorhanger for the FE that isn't $30? The ones on ebay are cute, I I don't mind decoratin my own if there are plain clear plastic ones with just a few pockets out there somewhere.

--Suzanne :^)

Yeah! 10 posts!!! :banana::banana::banana:

And no, I have no idea where to get a cheaper FE. There is someone on here that makes them (also sells on ebay). I contacted her privately and then through PMs here. She initially said yes she would make it (and charge me - not looking for a handout) but once I sent her what we wanted she hasn't even acknowledged that she's received an email or a PM. I even checked her history here and she is currently posting so not out of town or accessing the Dis. Weird. :confused3 It's been almost 2 weeks already and I even sent her a PM requesting that she just acknowledge that she received our email (thinking maybe I typed it in wrong). :confused3 So I'm in the same boat, lots of gifts to give but nothing to hang. :sad2:
