11/27-12/04 At 7 Month Window

I have a question for those who may have visited around these dates( 11/27-12/04) before. What are the chances of getting a reservation at the 7 month window for a 1bdr at BWV OR OKW this time of year? Love my home (SSR) but looking to experience some other DVC options.

BWV - probably no chance at all

OKW, might be possible. There might be a number of OKW owners who after staying years at OKW might want to try SSR for a change, thus opening up a number of OKW rooms.

The chances are good for both - unless you want a standard view or a guaranteed Boardwalk view at the BWV. Be sure to call as soon as the 7 month window opens. That time is popular and will book up uickly once the 7 month window opens.

Consider calling day by day for the best chance. Others will, LOL!

not sure about availability at 7-mos since i am currently waiting to close on a BWV resale....

but i DO have a tag-along question to the OP's query....what about availability at BWV for the same week (and even the prior TG weekend) at, say, 9 mos? that's about when we should be able to book our holiday trip...

We usually try to go in early November but we wanted to let the kids see all of the christmas hoopla this year. A couple years ago my wife and I made a visit during the second week of December and had a blast. I am hoping that this week(11/27-12/4) is just like that trip . Hopefully it isn't too close to Thanksgiving(LEFTOVER CROWDS ECT..).

No, it's not busy in the parks - great time to go! Thanksgiving crowds pretty much disappear by the Sunday after. The weekends can still be busy - the locals like to visit to see all the holiday decorations/activities, too. You can expect a certain level of crowds at MVMCP events and the EPCOT restaurants will be busy in the evenings due to the very popular Candlelight Prcocessional.

DVC is popular at that time because of all the special holiday decorations and events, because the annual meetings are held at that time and because it's a low points time. Some of the larger internet communities also tend to meet during this time.

We go every year around this time - got hooked in 1998 and have been every year since. Can't imagine going any other time if I have to skip the late November/early December trip!

IMHO, you will not have a problem booking a Preferred View -Pool/Garden room at 9 months out.

My wife and I are both Disney and Christmas nuts. I have feeling we may start alternating between early December and early November to take advantage of using annual passes as well as the festive, holiday feel of WDW in December and the near perfect weather we always seem to find in early November. Thanks for the info CarolMN

We did this last year. We needed a 2br unit for 11/27/05 thru 12/2/05.

We're SSR owners as well. I called at the 11-month window and booked SSR as a back-up. I then called at the 7-month window and wait-listed for BWV (all views) and BCV. I didn't wait-list day-by-day, though, because I wanted to be sure we got all 5 nights at the same place (didn't want to run the risk of having to change rooms with 2 kids under 3 yrs old), so I called at 7 months from our departure date.

Anyway, within a week or two our wait-list came through at the BWV for a preferred view and within a few weeks of that our wait-list came through for BCV (I had stayed on that wait-list just in case it came through as well--had never stayed there before and wanted to try it) .

As a side note on crowd levels, I found it quite a bit more crowded in 2005 than it had been during my previous visits this same time of year in 2000, 2001 and 2002. I was actually a bit disappointed in that. It's still MUCH better than summer/holiday crowds, but we weren't able to walk on to rides as much this time as in times past. I even asked a CM at MK if this crowd level was normal for this time of year now (haven't been since 2002) and she said, "No. It's much more crowded than usual. We don't know how to guage crowd levels anymore." Hmmmm...I guess that's good for Disney.

Anyway, have a great trip and good luck on the waitlists. I imagine something will open up for you at either location.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Hopefully I will get lucky. If not I enjoy SSR and will not be dissapointed. Hopefully those crowds were a one year fluke!!
