Okay here it is...a down and dirty review of what we ate during our 5 days at the parks...followed up with a 3 day cruise on the Wonder. Who are we you ask?...A couple without kids...Me: Lets just say I like to eat...and have been known to do it until I am oblivous...must be the Italian in me. DGF: Athletic girl who thinks she eats alot but eats about 1/10th of what I do...sometimes we share (which is defined as me eating all of my food and most of hers).

11/27: Travel day..we actually arrived very refreshed (flying from L.A.) and after checking into the Poly decided to head to MGM. No PS's so we ducked into the ABC Commisary (mostly to get out of the rain) and both had Cheesebugers and Fries. There were pretty standard theme park fare...nothing to brag about, but the burger was actually bigger than I expected. We "shared" chocolate mousse that was a little on the bland side(C+).
11/28: Magic Kingdom...Took the KTTK tour and thusly ate at Columbia Harbor House. We both had the Chicken and Fish Combo which consisted of 2 chicken fingers, 2 pieces of battered, fried fish (white fish, most likely cod), and fries. Again, standard counter service stuff, nothing too exciting, but the fish was suprisingly better than I expected. (C+)
For Dinner we were off to the Hoop Dee Doo Review....made the PS about 8 months out and we were literally front row center. Show was intentionally corny and we had a blast. I had read some pretty harsh reviews of the food here, but I found the chicken to be very tasty, the corn and beans were great, and the ribs and strawberry short cake were pretty good. DGF liked the dessert more than I did. (B+)
11/29 Epcot...No breakfast and we had a noon PS at Coral Reef. I started with the Lobster Bisque (they call it something else...but thats what it basically was) and it was EXCELLENT. I don't know if I just got lucky, but there was a ton of lobster meat in it. For the main course I had the Mahi Mahi which was served over mashed potatos which was pretty good...DGF had a Seafood Pasta dish, which she loved....I had a little taste and to my unrefined palate the sauce tasted kind of like BBQ sauce. (B)
Dinner was at the Rose and Crown. We had a 7:50pm PS. We showed up at about 7:30, and I winked at the lovely British girl at the podium, which got us seated on the upper patio...not bad but I must need a little work on my wink to get the lower balcony...maybe she thought I had a tick and took pity on me...anyway...I think this was the best meal we had. DGF started off with the Welsh Dragon drink which was different but very good (imagine fruity with a mint finish...try it). We started off with the Mushroom Medley, which was the best thing we had on the whole trip. Creamy, peppery, garlicy, mushroomy and a bit salty....excellent. DGF had the fish and chips (can't go wrong) and I had the pie sampler, which I loved. Pork pie is like a big sausage meat ball in a bready dough (very good), Chicken and Leek was kind of like a chicken pot pie, and the Shepard's Pie was awesome. We finished off with the dessert sample (we were stretching out to Illuminations) and it was too good to put into words (Creme Brulee, Toffee Bread Pudding, and something else that was good...take my work for it). (A+)
11/30: Animal Kingdom...For Breakfast we took the Monorail over to the Contemporary and ate at the Chef Mickey B-fast Character Meal. I always feel a little strange going to a character meal without having kids, but it went well and we got some great pictures with the characters. Food is standard buffet quality stuff. Lets just say that the scrambled eggs reminded me of my time in the Marine Corps, eating at a chow hall...not the best. One thing I learned is that 5 Mickey Waffles is just too much..but they were tasty. (B)
Dinner was at Boma....which is always an adventure...very good. The highlights were something called Fufu (I think) which was like a mashed sweet potato that tasted similar to pumpkin pie filling..very good, ZEBRA DOMES, and African spiced steak. (A)
12/01...MGM day (but both of our meals were at the Poly)...We had breakfast at Kona Cafe...and it was the first good cup of coffee I had, excellent Kona Blend. DGF had the Tonga Toast (sourdough french toast stuffed with bananas and rolled in sugar and cinnamon) and liked it so much, she is thinking of moving to Tonga. I had the Big Kahuna Breakfast and thought that the Sausage was particularly good. (A-).
Since this was our last full day on land we had to top it off with O'hana. As usual it was awesome. None of the meat was dry...as I have read about here..The peanut sauce is great, and I could easily eat 100 of the shrimp and veggie wontons. I ate so much shrimp (peel and eat) that other people began to stare. For the price you cannot beat this place. (A).
If your still reading, thanks for haning in there. We had a great time and never really had a negative experience. Feel free to ask questions if you wish, and if you are headed out on a trip...Have a great time.
Tony

Sounds like you ate pretty good! Thanks for the reviews. :D

Excellent reviews, Tony. I really enjoyed reading them - thanks! :D

Glad to hear you enjoyed Coral Reef for lunch. DH wants to try it next trip, but the bad reviews here have me worried.

Hope you enjoyed your trip!

I'm drooling...I love your reviews. So glad your experiences were good and man, I can't wait to eat at Rose and Crown again...only problem is I can't get anyone to go with me...next time I'm going alone if I have to!
