11/24/07 We are Better Than Leftovers!!! Nana Head reunion

Warning: Controversial topic.....PLEASE don't ban me, my new crazy banana friends! Just wanted to say I think Carnival's bad reputation must have come from the older ships and the shorter cruises because I just did an 8 day on Carnival Liberty in January and found the quality to be the same as Disney. Huge & new ship. No drunks stumbling around, no party crowds, etc. They have an awesome club/huge arcade for teens & pre-teens, BUT there was nothing for little kids to do, not even their own pool, with the exception of a 1 ft. deep pool in the kids club for toddlers. Any child over 2 would be too big for that pool.

So for adults, I found it comparable regarding the level of service and cleanliness, but for kids under 10, I'd NEVER cruise on anything but Disney!

OK....Am I kicked out now? Just had to defend Carnival because I loved the Liberty so much!

Yeah, 6 degrees, wind chill around -10, wind gusts up to 30 mph. I'm really thrilled about having to go to the grocery store and then shovel! BRRRRRR!!!!!!! I'll try to keep my brain in the sunny Caribbean the whole time!

Hello everyone:

I am kind of new to the cruise boards, usually on the Parks and Resorts pages. Our family (me, dw, dd16, dd10, dd8) are thinking of taking this cruise. We have done WDW the past 2 years and are thinking of taking a 7 day cruise this year. DW and I went on a 3 day Carnival cruise about 11 years ago so that is all I have to compare anything to. Any advice or reccomendations would be great. I sent off 2 days ago to DU and AllSeasons for a quote and I am waiting to hear back. I have been looking up cabins and descriptions on the WDWinfo pages. It looks like a cat 3 would have a lot of room for a family of 5, but I don't know how much they are and if any would even still be open now. A cat 4 would fit us but I wonder if it would be crowded for a whole week. I would like to have a verandah but that would require either a cat 4 or 2 cat 5's or 6's.

Anyway, I was hoping for some expert advice from you cruise regulars in making some plans. Thanks in advance and I look forward to getting to know some of my fellow disers on these boards!!!!!

Hi there. We had a Cat 3 on this cruise last year and the room was amazing. We are a family of four and it really spoiled us. That being said...we love DCL so much that we are okay with booking a Cat 9 and hoping to get an upgrade at port. Hope you book this one...as we also have a DD8 who loves to "meet" friends before the cruise. Last cruise she made a friend b4 -hand that she stuck with all week and is still in touch with today!

The "Wild Turkey with Bananas" recipe book has gotten to 80 pages. . . from 12 contributors. Authors? The deal was - if you contributed, you receive the finished e-book. But I just KNOW it's going to be a hot commodity. What shall we extract from the non-contributors if they want the book?

We have 3 kids ds 13, dd 6 and ds 4.
We will be celebrating out 15th anniversary on november 28th and I want to renew our vows on ship.
this will be first dsiney crusie and first cruise ever for us except for hubby who was in navy for 6 years.
we are really excited and looking forward to getting to know you all before cruise.

Hi Patty and family,

it is great to have another family join us.
Shell, (woogal) has made a cruise list of all of us so we can get to know each other better. She did this last time for us and it really helped to remember who everybody is.
So when you get the chance you can PM her on this board and send her your information too. We usually include names and ages, dining early or late, room number, where we live, how many cruises we have taken and any special events we are celebrating on board, and our e-mail address so she can send the list to you. This is voluntary, so send as little or as much as you want to share. Then Shell will e-mail a list to you.

We have several kids on board already so your kids can make some friends before we cruise if they want. Tiffany is making a kids list for the kids so they can get aquainted too.

If you dont mind me asking, what state are you from??
We are from Florida. Sorry no kids with us, just going as a couple this time.

Since this will be your first cruise please feel free to ask questions anytime and someone here will try and help you. Many of us cruised together last November and are going again in 08 too, so we are just a big family here and we are happy to have you join us!!!

People are really nice here, but there are a couple of sneaky ones too

We were going to do the 4 day crusie and I said to hubby we might as well do the 7 day as I know we are going to love it. Also because we are renewing vows we thought the 7 day would just be great
I am in process now of looking at a wedding dress for renewing vows. for something to knees, ivory, have been looking on ebay.
We are going to see about going early possible 21st and staying in disney for 3 nights and than going on cruise
. We should be offically booked within the next 2 weeks. We just joined DVC and just sent out paper work, once we are in system, I have to decide if we want to use points for hubby and i, or just save for future trips to disney(or if we love it another cruise)
I am very excited to get to know you are. You seem like such a great bunch of people.thank you for welcoming me.
I know I am going to love it here and cannot wait to get to know you all before crusie and than meet you.
