Hi,
we just got back from Universal Studios with our family. We had a very good day :goodvibes even thought the thunderstorms rolled in and they had to close a few rides due to the lightning and such. We only had one ride left to do at that point, it was a new Dr. Suess trolley ride. :woohoo: It is a kiddie ride, but I wanted to do it, so we all waited 25 minutes in line, got to the gates and waited for our trolley to pull up. Just then they announced it was closing due to the weather. :furious:
We waited about 15 minutes for the weather to clear, :sunny: but it didnt so we did some souvenir shopping, by then it was cleared up but we were by the exit and leaving. Guess it will have to wait til next time, probably at Christmas.
we were suppose to do a water park at WDW but with 70% chance of rain we decided to so Universal instead.

Tomarrow we take everyone to the airport :sad2: so they can fly back to Oregon and start school in about 2 weeks.
I will check back in later,
Kathy

Sounds like it was a great day even with the thunderstorms. I'm sorry they have to go back tomorrow.

We're packed and ready to go and we'll be leaving the house around 7:00am tomorrow to make our flight. I'll check in when we get back. :)

Good morning,
just bumping us up this morning.
we will be getting ready to go to the airport this morning to see our DD off.
I will check in when we get back,

Kathy

have a great trip

Hi, just keeping us off page two!! :woohoo:

My DD is off to Oregon now. :sad2: She should be home in about 90 minutes.
It was a great visit. :thumbsup2
Minnie keeps walking around looking for everyone, she is going to miss them for a few days. I gave her a new tug o war rope tonight to perk her up some.
She seems to like it. :goodvibes I am sitting here watching the Pirates pirate: movie on TV while DH fell asleep in his chair and Minnie is asleep by my feet with her new rope.

Guess it is our bedtime since it is back to work tomarrow for DH. :guilty:
Good night for now,
Kathy

Happy Monday to all,

Well the word of the day here in Florida is ERNESTO!!
Tomarrow night we should know a lot more about it. I am going to fill up my gas tank today and maybe my husbands truck. Then we will have all 3 vehicles filled up in case the storm hits hard and it becomes hard to get gas. People hord it everytime a storm is coming. This way my DH can get to work for along time without having to buy gas.
we do have a nice generator and it's full of gas and we filled some gas cans in the spring for it just in case we had a hurricane. I also bought bottled water in the spring. I always have extra food around and plenty of propane in the BBQ for cooking if needed.
so we are all set!!

It is very quiet around here today with everyone gone home.
Lat night Minnie kept going to the front door and whimpering. She looked into the bedrooms and nobody was there, she is really missing them. I know she will get over it but I sure wish she could understand about it. maybe I will take her for a ride today, she likes that.

well thats about it for now.
Laura, i dont know when you are returning home, I hope you are not traveling during the storm!!!

Kathy

Good Morning

Kathy, it sounds like you are ready for a big hit. I just heard Ernesto has been downgraded so hopefully if won't be too bad for you and Laura. Keep me posted.

Sounds like Minnie really liked having everyone there. Will everyone be back next summer?

Didn't do much this weekend, just cleaned the house to get it ready for my Mother-In-Law. She is coming in on Wednesday for a week. Don't know what we are doing for Labor Day yet. I can't believe the summer is over (well it's not really over because it's still going to be in the 100's for a few more weeks :sunny: )

OK back to work. :cool1:

we may luck out but I dont count on anything til after Ernesto goes over the warm water, because it can gain strength.

Minnie is missing them still. They wont be back next summer, we will be going to Oregon instead for a week to visit our moms who are getting up there in years and in declining health. Both are too weak to come out here,s o we need to go and see them. Perhaps if we can afford it, we may bring them back again, but not counting on it. Hope our other DD and family will be ble to come out. both just got out of college and started new jobs so need to work a year for vacation time to be available for them. I would love to see my other grandkids. You never know when they will make it back out, at least every 2 years.

I will check in with you tomarrow and try to keep us bumped up!!!

Kathy

Hi All!! Joining the leftover group. :thumbsup2

DH and I were originally booked on the Wild Turkey turned Dancin' Nana Cruise(11/25/06). But, DH was laid off for 2 months at the beginning of this year, so it just wasn't financially feasible for us to cruise this year. So, we decided to push the cruise back by one year and just do a free dining week at the POP Century this year instead(next week in fact).

DH and I are cruisin' virgins. So, be gentle with us. We will have a million questions for you more experienced cruisers. We are booked for a cat 9 on deck 2. I am so excited!! :cheer2:

Hi Kycha, :welcome:
I am so happy you joined us!!! :goodvibes
I am on your old cruise on 11/25/06 too. :thumbsup2

We are a small group still, only 4, now 5 families.
Although Jim is very busy and only posts about once a month. The other ladies and I keep us going here so far. I will let them introduce themselves to you. :grouphug:
We are cruising as just a couple this time. But you never know, that could change. This will be DCL cruise #15 for us unless we sneak in an extra 3 day cruise between now and then. :woohoo:
Pop century is a neat hotel, you'll love it!! So bright and colorful. :Pinkbounc

we go to WDW 4 or 5 times a month and still love it. Be sure and post and let us know how your trip goes. Since you are staying on site you will be able to take advantage of the early open extra hours they have for the parks too.
One lady on this cruise( Laura) is at WDW right now, I'm sure she is having a blast. :teeth:

I am looking forward to getting to know you over the next few months. (dont like to say a year plus. That sounds too far away)

Well it looks like Ernesto will just give us a blustery rainy day tomarrow. That is ok by me, we do need the rain.
I am off :moped: to take Minnie to the vet for a check up on her infection this morning.

Greg was pulling a few weeds in the farthest out part of the back yard last nught and he found where Minnie had burried 2 chew sticks and 3 baby boas she had killed!!! :scared1: I hope she never runs across a rattle snake out there. Florida is loaded with them. :sad2: She must be fast to catch and kill 3 snakes.

well I'll check back this afternoon to see if anyone has posted anything new today to keep us bumped up!!!

Kathy

Kycha,
I was just thinking back to 11/25 cruise. Was your name Cheryl?? :confused3 Or close to that?? I need to know what to call you and it has been a long time since you posted on the old cruise. Hard to remember for sure.

Thanks,

Kathy

Kathy,

Yes, I am Cheryl. Thanks for remembering and for the warm welcome. I have sorta been lurking on the 11/25/06 thread. We just made the final decision to cancel that cruise and rebook this one about 2 weeks ago. So, I have kept up on the latest news over there. I even read your cruise trip report(great read, btw).

Only 5 families so far? Sounds like we'll have the ship to ourselves. That would be so cool.

Well, I hope Minnie is feeling better. Sounds like she is your own personal little exterminator. As long as she doesn't bring the snakes inside.

Hope Ernesto doesn't affect you and have a great day. Gotta get back to work.

Thanks
Cheryl

Welcome Cheryl :grouphug:

So glad you are joining us. Will it be just you and your husband? Sorry about your husband being laid off but things happen for a reason and now look you are cruising with a bunch of great people :cool1: Kathy is definitly the expert on cruising. I have only been on one 4 day disney cruise and it was one of the best vacations I have ever been on. Trust me you will love it. I thought they really had great things for adults traveling without children. The beach at Castaway Cay was just amazing my husband even loved it and he hates the beach. Cove Cafe was great, we went there every morning to get our coffee. It was the only time we really relaxed. There is just so much to do on the ship, I was worried we would be bored but that wasn't the case at all. We kept busy every day. 4 Days just wasn't enough.

It will just be my husband and I (no kids yet) on this cruise. We are really looking forward to relaxing and have a whole week to just chill. Right now we are planning on flying to Florida on Thanksgiving and spending two days at the parks before the cruise. We will be staying at Pop. My husband just loves the food court, especially the slurpies.

Again, welcome and looking forward to getting to know you and your husband.

Kathy stay safe and out of Ernestos way. Sounds like it shouldn't be too bad. I can't believe Minnie kills snakes. Now that's a dog :dogdance:

Have a good day everyone. :cheer2:

Cheryl,
feel free to ask any questions you can think of, all of us will be happy to answer if we can. I have experienced most areas of the ship because we have traveled with young kids up through teenagers as well as adult things, so hopefully I will be able to help. :thumbsup2

We have a little guessing game on this thread. we are each guessing how many posts we will have here on the day we set sail. I said 2500 and I cant remember who (sorry ladies) said 3500.
Would you like to venture a guess too??? :confused3

ivstitch,
are you still staying toasty there??

Kathy

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!!

lvstitch, it will be just DH and I(no kids here either). I haven't been too concerned about being bored on the ship. I am just looking for complete relaxation. Most of our vacations consist of fitting in as much stuff as humanly possible. This cruise will be the exact opposite. Rest and relaxation and lots of fun!!! We haven't decided when we will be arriving before the cruise. If we can get reasonable airfare, we are shooting for the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and possibly a stay at the Wilderness Lodge. All that stuff is still being negotiated. We have family in Cocoa, so we may just skip the resorts and go spend the holiday with them.

Oh, Kathy, my guess is 2862. So, only 2565 :teacher: more posts to go. We have our work cut out for us ladies(and Jim).

Howdy everyone,
well we have lots of clouds and a little rain this morning due to Ernesto, suppose to be tons of rain and some 40 MPH wind gust this evening.
we need the rain, so I am happy with this, it will also cool it down to around 75 I hope.

My oldest son, Randy will get the brunt of the rain where he lives, so he said he would contact me after it passes through as long as he has electricity.

Nothing new here, just keeping us bumped up trying to reach our big goal on our posts, they way we are going we may go way past our guesses since we have over a year to go!!

Have a great day everyone,
Kathy

Most of our vacations consist of fitting in as much stuff as humanly possible.

We are the exact same way. We usually need a vacation after our vacation. I am going to try really hard to relax but I don't know if I will be able to. I am already looking a navagators to see what there is to do :confused3 It's so hard to plan to do nothing.

Have a good day everyone. Kathy enjoy the rain

Good morning everyone,

well I hope Laura didnt have her flight cancelled by all the plane closures the past day or two. OIA is a mad house today with thousands of people whose flights were cancelled. There are some very unhappy people.
Not sure when Laura was coming back.

Well Ernesto was a big flop here. we only got a drizzly rain for part of the day, but no wind or thunder or lightning. Dont get me wrong, i didnt want a bad storm, but I would of liked a little more rain here. Even at my sons house where they predicted bad rains, he got almost nothing!! We have a bad drought here so we really needed the rain.

Not much else going on here, very quiet morning around here.
At least I bumped us up for another morning.

Cheryl, we have been posting questions to get aquainted the past few weeks, so here is one more: only answer if you want, it is just a way to get to know each other, feel free to post a question too.

What was your favorite vacation and why???

Ok my answer,
Our first trip from Oregon to Florida. We went to WDW for the first time. The reason for it being my favorite was because we brought our 2 youngest kids and our 5 year old grandaughter. Everything was pure magic to her at that age. Just watching her eyes lite up every day made it perfect.
She created so many special memories for us, so did our kids but they were much older, so the magic was with Ana.
