We're proud of you!!!
Yep, tomarrow is my one day a year I do nothing unless I want to. I don't count the years, because I have been going backwards since I hit 50, so soon I will be the same age as my oldest daughter:lmao:

Have an AWESOME time in Maui:banana:
I hope you will tell us all about it with pictures when you return. It looks like you are leaving about the time we get home. 7/7??

Cheri,
If you want my heat you gotta take the whole package, humidity and all:rolleyes1
we are cooler today, so far only 92. I think it has cooled off some which means maybe a thunderstorm is coming?
We need the rain.

I did my last minute shopping for my cruise and we are all set.

Now I have to decide who is going to be in charge of keeping you guys posting while I am gone.:confused3 it's a tough, thankless job, but someone has to do it!!
Any Volunteers??

FYI on the carnival thread i have been named Sexy Sadie:eek:

Sexy Sadie, huh?! :thumbsup2 Well, you go, girl! ;)

I'm really jealous of you and your upcoming Carnival cruise! I've heard that the bad rep Carnival gets is from the older ships, but I'm pretty sure Glory is one of the newer ones, so I'm sure you'll love it. I absolutely loved the Liberty in January and am dying to do Carnival again because of the first class quality (at least in my experience).....but only without Tyler because of the lack of kid stuff. Can't wait to hear all about your cruise!

Wow you people really can post!!! I started reading some of them and then realized it was never going to happen so I forwarded to the end!!

We will be joining you on this cruise! We were originally booked for the 4 Day Wonder for the same week, but we re-evaluated recently and changed to the 7 Day! This will be our first 7 day cruise and we're very excited (Well I'm very excited!! DH pretends he's not, but he will be when it gets here.)

It will be myself, Melanie (40), DH Chris(38), DS Alex(4) and DS Jackson(16 months). Yes... we are late in life parents. Our boys will probably keep us plenty busy, and we may miss out on a few things, but Mommy loves to cruise... and is willing to save her pennies to do so... so we're going anyway!
:cool1::woohoo:

To introduce myself below is my website with photos from our 3 day Wonder cruise. I was 5 months pregnant at the time with Jackson.

:welcome: Melanie and family :welcome:

welcome to the banana heads reunion cruise.
we are a bunch of crazies who love disney cruising!!
Glad to have you with us.

woogal (shell) is the keeper of our cruise list. If you PM her all your family info and your e-mail address she will add you to our list and send you a copy of the list.
If you have a favorite family picture send that too and she will put it next to your info. we try to include our names, where we are from, how many cruises, room numbers early or late dinner, any special occassions you might be celebrating on board. Stuff like that.
We like to keep Shell busy, it helps keep her out of trouble:rotfl2:

Many of us crusied together last November so if we sound well aquainted that is why we are so chatty, , but dont let us scare you out, please jump right in the conversations.
Many of us are also cruising November 08 too.:woohoo:

For us we have no kids along this time but many do, so I'm sure there is someone your childrens ages.:thumbsup2

be careful of Cruise Mutt, he threatens to bite once in awhile he is is really just a puppy at heart.:cloud9:
He is sneaky with his camera once he is on board, so watch out for him;)

I , of course am the sweet, kind, innocent, SHY person of the group.:rolleyes1

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Kathy:flower3:

Lampy,
great photos, looks like you had a great time!!

Holly,
I promise to post all aboput the trip. The Glory isnt a really old ship, so it should be ok. I will have fun no matter what. After all I have 2 of my grandkids along and Sexy Sadie always has a great time;)

Kathy

  Welcome Melanie and Family

My name is Okie-yup real name-traveling with DH Rick, DS Joshua (17) and DD Chelsea (15)-our 3rd year in a row for this 7 day--you will have a blast!!

Well, my dad is still in the hospital-out of CICU though:yay: . Don't know how much longer he will be there. One of my best friends was out on her motorcycle with a group she travels with and she crashed the same day my dad was rushed to the hospital--she earned herself a concussion, bruised lung, lacerated hand, broken ankle, and popped a disk in her neck--she was in WV but they drove her to Ohio  ...she is now home here in PA mending.....what a week :scared1: .

I go on southwest site everyday waiting for them to release their dates up to our cruise date.....anyone know when they will do that???

Kathy/Greg: have a great trip.
Woo/Mutt: welcome home--sure hope new orleans is still standing!!
Lampy: great pictures-sure wish I could have been next to Jimmy Johnson's car.....oh heck who am I kidding....wish I could have been next to Jimmy Johnson

Have a good one.....  ...still counting nanas????

Welcome! I don't know any of these crazy bananas here, so I'm glad I have a fellow newbie. Well, not new to cruising, but new to this wonderful group. :thumbsup2

I have spurts where I post tons, but then lulls where I only have time to read without posting. Work every day, law school, living alone with my 5-yr old son....not much extra time. I'm 1/2 way through the semester at school, so I'll be jumping into cram for finals mode any day now, so if I disappear, that's why.

I was bringing my 5-yr old son with me on this cruise, so he would have been a good playmate for Alex, but I've decided not to bring him after all and will find a friend or family member to take his place. Long story, but after our last vacation (a short 4 days in Florida a couple weeks ago), I decided he doesn't need to go on any vacations until he's a few years older. Every single vacation he turns into a complete monster and I can't see spending a small fortune to go on a vacation where I'm angry and stressed out the whole time dealing with his behavior. So I'm dropping him from this cruise. :yay:

Thanks for all the welcomes! I'll try to get my info to Woogal so I can join your list.

Holly- Too bad our boys may have had fun! But I totally understand your decision to leave your DS home. That is what happened with Alex when he was 2 1/2 on our Wonder cruise. He became a little monster. And we also had 2 older adults to care for too... ANDI was pregnant. It wasn't the best it could be. At least I have my DH to rely on if I need a few moments of sanity! You need a little time alone so you can be a better mom!
We debated about going alone, but right now we just want to vacation with them. So it's all of us or none of us. I'll just dream of those other kind of trips!
By the way- both of my parents are from Michigan originally and a lot of my family still lives there. Mostly in the Alpena area, but I have an uncle in Ypsilanti. I've spent a lot of time in Michigan.

Hey Okie- I've been checking the Southwest site regularly too. I don't get it. It seems like they should be booking November already!?

Kathy- I have seen you around the boards in fact I think you may have answered a few of my questions on the "other" board when I was first considering Disney. I will appreciate all of your expertise I am sure!

Hey everyone....
just wanted to sign in quick and say hi to everyone. I missed ya.

Welcome Melanie and family.

We have some interesting photos of our Naw'lins trip....some are even postable but I'm letting cooler (crazier) heads prevail.

Thanks again Wendy and Mike....you two went so far out of the way to be the perfect hosts....I just cant thank you enough. (I do have a recipe for Mike that might even the score a lil)---I have a pretty good approximation of the "hand grenade" buddy...you can decide if mutt is full of it or not.

Ok...off to bed. Near as I can figure, I've been awake for the last 41 hours and I'd really like to lay down for a bit.

Morning all,

Okie,
I am happy to hear your dad is doing a little better. These things can be so stressful!!
Telll Josh and Rick they need to post once in awhile.
Yes I am still counting bananas. I will post soon where out count stands and I have been counting Mutts monkey's too.

Melanie,
I knew your name was familiar but just couldnt place it until now. I guess you never know who you will run into around the boards.

Bill,
Inquiring minds want to see those pictures :woohoo:
I am leaving on saturday, so you gotta post a couple before then for me to see.

Jeff,
How did the meet go? I hope the weather held out for you. I hate for the kids to be disappointed two times in a row.
:guilty:

Kathy

good morning all

Welcome to Melanie and family! We are traveling with a nearly 4 year old girl so as long as your little guy is okay with playing with girls, Emily would love a playmate.

:bday: happy birthday to Kathy! i think i read you're 32 today! :rotfl:

The meet took place :cool1: and I got the photos taken care of :cheer2: but dealing with the spoiled parents and snotty "ladies who do lunch" was more than I could handle. cheri - I waited until post-meet for the cocktail, but I DID have a cocktail. I spent 3 1/2 hours in the blazing sun dealing with moms who forgot their forms, didn't bring a checkbook and treated me like the photographer's assistant. As we are new to the swim team this year there are a lot of folks who I don't know and when the attitude was beyond belief, I had to say "I'm just a parent volunteer and sure could use some help here. Do you have an hour you can spare?" Attitudes improved but no one volunteered (surprise).

Elizabeth swam well again although the Sharks lost the meet. I need to bring a stopwatch to the next meet (tonight) because she is only swimming in relays and they aren't giving the split times, just the team time and I'm curious as to how her time has improved since she made the team. Today, however, she was a bear and didn't go to practice this morning. I guess a break is okay given they have a meet tonight - though storms are predicted again.

Here's a pic of our swimmer. Note the concentration

Time for me to get to work so I can wrap some things up before our trip.

Jeff,
sorry they didnt win but at least they finally got to compete. Loosing is a good life lesson just like winning is.
That is a great photo, she does look so serious:goodvibes she will love looking at that picture when she is about 16.

I hope tonight goes better for you and the team.
I knew a few of "THOSE" kind of parents when my kids did sports.
Sometimes you wonder how they got the title of "adults"??

Just take a deep breathe and be happy you are not like them and you are there for Elizabeths sake not the snooty parents.

Thanks for the well wishes.
I know it is hard to believe, but yes I am 32 now and Minnie is 2 years old today. Just dont tell my oldest kids who are 33 and 34, they may have some doubts about my honesty:lmao:

Keep us posted on what happens tonight, I hope the storms stay away.

Kathy

Morning everyone- I'm back from my grandfather's 105 bday- only an hour from WDW but couldn't find a minute to disappear and drive over so I am getting my pixiedust dose today.
Rach is getting ready for her "academy award" night for our local theatre group on Friday night- thank goodness for formal nights on the cruise and she has a dress that is just right. Kayla is starting to realize that her European trip is only weeks away so we are busily making lists of things she "thinks" she needs and the last meeting is this Saturday. I am just happy to be home- a 10 hour drive can really take its toll on ayour body. Today is hot and sticky again.. will mow later today when the sun goes down- gosh I lead an exciting life!
Okie- my girls are 13,14,16,16 we'll have to have them meet fellow travelling DisTeens- my daughters still "talk" as much as a teen does- to the teens they met our last cruise.

Enjoy your day....:beach:
judy

Hi Judy,
glad your back ok. I hope the birthday celebration went well.

It is hot and sticky here too. we are about an hour from WDW too.
Where does your grandpa live??
Who knows we may be practically neighbors.

Kathy

Hi Jeff-
Alex plays with girls (takes after his father). He will be 4 on July 22.
I think he's going to have a great time, he's really into the Disney channel morning shows right now, so I think he'll love it as he knows who all the characters are.

Your daughter looks like she is really concentrating in that photo!
Melanie

Hey Holly-
I just realized that I posted with you when you were doing your Carnival comparison report. I remembered you saying that you weren't impressed with kid's areas compared to Disney.

I remember you met a guy on that cruise. How did that go?

:welcome: :welcome: Melanie & family! Glad to have you join our merry little bunch!  Where do you live in Iowa? We live in northern Illinois, but have relatives in Nebraska so I unfortunately know every Iowa exit on I-80!!!!

Jeff, sounds like you earned that cocktail!! Great picture of Elizabeth!!:cheer2:

:bday: :bday: party: Kathy!!! Happy 3-2!:lmao:

Off to get my hair done -- she'll earn her money today!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
