11-23-2008 DCL per-Thanksgiving 3 night Wonder cruise!!

I have never been to Snowshoe, but it is pretty close to us too. Maybe I can take my son there sometime. I see they have kid's lessons.

My dh and I have been to Snowshoe several times, and we really like it. The kids learned locally at Massanutten - great for them, but not so great for us. This will be the first time the kids have been to Snowshoe. Snowshoe bought Silver Creek several years back, and I actually enjoy the skiing at Silver Creek a little better (its just down the road). They have shuttles that go back and forth between the 2 ski areas. We found an excellent package at their Inn (base of mountain) for Dec 21 and 22 (hopefully we'll have snow). We had to call - wasn't online. The same package is available for weeknight stays throughout the winter, so check it out if you're interested.

I will have to give Snowshoe a try. I know people in my family have been there and liked it. I know I cannot teach my son to ski. I tried helping my husband and it was not pretty. I think I am too demanding.

I can't believe it is only 3 weeks until we leave for Florida. I am so excited.

Yeah, the lessons are a must. It also gives you time to ski by yourself without kids in tow.

I'm excited too - can't believe its almost here. I hope I can fit into my bathing suit. Can't stop eating chocolate!!

Ugh, we had trick or treat tonight in our neighborhood. I feel like I have just eaten a pound of chocolate. I am going to try to not think about my bathing suit too much until next week.

Spaddy, can't remember if I mentioned this or not - If you are interested in upgrading your room, you can ask when you check in at the terminal. I know some folks who were given upgrades for just a little extra. It looks like our ship is almost full though - not sure how much room there will be, but you never know if there might be a cancellation.

Jodie

I was thinking about going early and asking for an upgrade. It seems like there is not a lot of room left on the ship. Some days when I check for 2 adults the cruise doesn't even come up. Other days it's cat 12 and 5. I think I will ask when we get there, but I am not too hopefully. I figure it is only 3 days we will be ok.

Did everyone see the $99 bounceback DCL offer? Wow, what a good deal. I don't think I will be able to go on another cruise in February.

Jodie, how are the prices on the cruises you booked going? I was wondering if it was going to be worth it for you to rebook onboard.

I checked the holiday 2010 pricing and it has not increased since I booked on opening day. Looks like rebooking onboard will give us a much better price - at least for that trip anyway.

Where did you see the bounceback offer? I don't think another cruise is in our budget right now, but I'm curious.

You actually have to go on a 4 day or 7 day in january, feb or march and you get a $99 pp 3 day Aug-Dec of 09. I was thinking about a 3 day in November of next year so it would be a pretty good deal. You also get the same cat. for $99. It's not cat 12 or anything. My Dh would have to really love the cruise for me to talk him into February. And I would have to cancel my April DVC reservation.

So, what to you guy think about my DH wearing a dress shirt and dress pants to Palo, no tie?

That looks great! I noticed that the promo is through Dreams Unlimited. I'm thinking that you could rebook your cruise onboard to take advantage of the onboard booking discount and credit. Then, when you get home, transfer your booking to Dreams Unlimited so that you can take advantage of the special offer. That looks like a pretty good deal to me. Wish I could take the kids out of school to take advantage of it!! January cruise pricing is LOW! Good luck!

Anyone else get their cruise docs today? I was leaving and the UPS man was waiting for me. I wasn't expecting them for maybe another week. Wow, it's getting close.

Oops. I was wrong. That promo is a DCL thing, not just Dreams. I should have known better. I bet you could get a great price on one of these trips!

Yes, I got my cruise docs yesterday. I had just gone online to do the online check-in for my entire family - all 3 staterooms. Took forever!!

Question about the luggage tags - those are just for people flying in and using DCL transportation right? Is there any reason to keep them if we're not using DCL trans?

Jodie

I think you still need them when you drop off your bags. I guess if you were doing only carry on into the ship you would need them. Of course I could be wrong.

We foy our docs yesterday, as well. what was surprising was that they were from DCL, and not the TA. First time that has happened.
Also, this was by far the earliest we have ever received them - usually it has been inside two weeks.
As far as the luggage tags, you will want to put them on before you give your bags to the crew at the terminal. That is how your bags get delivered to your room after they go through security.
Only three weeks. Woo Hoo!!!:cool1:

We got our package this week as well! Very odd -- we got two -- one for DH and I and the other for the two DSs. And, we got moved to main seating! Yah! (Now I just need to check online that DMIL did as well.)

The read-a-thon and the boys' birthdays are now over! :cool1: Now it's time to focus on end of season soccer parties, packing, and planning for Disney and MIL's post-cruise visit.

I had not seen the bounce back offer -- now to work on DH!

Newbie here. If there a fish extender for the 11/23 Wonder cruise started and how do I get onboard for that?

How do you know how much stuff to bring with you? Any ideas on types of gifts to bring?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome TiggercraZ -- glad you are cruising with us!

Right now there's not a FE exchange organized. If someone is willing to coordinate, I'll participate but I don't have time to organize it. On the main board, there's lots of threads about gift ideas.

I would love to participate. Since this is our first DCL and don't know anything about the FE, I wouldn't know where to start.

Is anyone interested in coordinating? Thanks.

I'm super-excited about our cruise. This will be our second Disney cruise. We have a son who is 6. Looking forward to chatting with (and maybe meeting) you all.

Where in Richmond? We moved to Goochland county from the West End about 3 years ago.

I live not far from Short Pump. I swear your name sounds so familiar that I feel like we may have met, but who knows! It's a small world.
