I was out of points and I had to call Member Services to buy OTU points and book:
1. The wait was less than 10 minutes at 7 pm on 11/17!
2. I was looking at DVC on my laptop, while talking on the phone with MS. The cast member had more availability showing for a studio on 12/19 than showing on my account? I saw only AKV, while she saw AKV, OKW, and SSR at WDW.
3. The cast member was able to complete the transaction AND help add a day to my tickets.

Overall: I hope this is the new norm and I was surprised. This was my first time buying OTU points.

That is a case of them seeing the rooms that were sent within the 60 day mark for breakage. This is not the first report of this so maybe when booking short term, one should call instead of rely on the website if within that 60 day mark since CMs on the phone do have the way to "call the room back".

Yeah for the quick wait time!!!

What does this mean about breakage? I'm currently stalking for a room <60 days but >30 days. Would it be good to call? Is there anyway to see the breakage rooms online? Like even if they aren't in the DVC room search, would those be the cash rooms I see on Disney's main website.

Any rooms not reserved 60 days from check in can be sent to Disney to sell for cash.

They can also anticipate what might be available and send farther out than that. Part of money earned is given back to owners to offset dues, but is capped at 2.5% of the operating budget, The rest goes to DVC and others.

While they don’t take them all, they can. And things do show up and waitlist can get filled.

But, it doesn’t hurt to call and see if they see something different.
