Another welcome to you!! Hang on! We're a pretty active group - especially now that the cruise is in sight!!

For formal night and semi-formal night, you'll see a little bit of everything. People will be in resort casual and others looking like princesses on the red carpet (check out Hypermommy and KC's original trip report for a princess view). I know that my Mom, aunt and I are going in between. Slacks/skirts, but dressed up with fancy jewelry on those two nights. (Although I may still stick a tiara in because every woman should get to wear one on a regular basis!)

For the FE, we enjoyed making ours, but I can also tell you that we probably spent twice in supplies what it would have cost just to buy one on ebay... But there are some that decorate gift bags or even hang canvas tote bags - so you can go as simple or elaborate as you like. I would recommend either personalizing what you decide to use or zip-tying the handles closed around the fish.

On the bottom of hypermommy's signature (and I think sandigosusie's too) you'll find some links to the different activities we have planned - and a better explanation of some of them.

Welcome aboard!!

Hi everyone!

My family and I are also going on this cruise, so I thought I would introduce ourselves.

My name is Charyl Lee and my husbands name is Jeff, both in our fourtys. We have 2 daughters, Jade-11 and Paige-14. We are huge disney fanatics, and try to visit at least twice a year. This is our first Disney cruise and it is a total suprise for our girls.

I noticed that you have several events planned. My husband likes to enjoy a good cigar, so I thought he might like to meet other fellow cigar enthusiasts.

Also I have a couple of newbie questions if you do not mind.

Can you please tell me about the formal night and the semi-formal night? I see that some people are even renting tuxes. Is this the captains night and what exactly does it entail? My husband is not too thrilled about even wearing a suit. His exact words were "What? I have to wear one everyday, I don't want to wear one on vacation. I'm out". Help........

Will my girls feel left out if I do not have a FE? I looks like fun but I am not sure if i can make one. If we participate, what do I bring to put in them? Do you just put things in the ones on your deck level or the whole ship?

Thanks so much for all of your help.

:welcome: Charyl and family! So glad to have you joining us on our voyage. This is a awesome group so be sure to speak up if you have any questions. Remind your DH that a picture on formal night would make a great picture for your Christmas cards. Well, it does.....

I hope that everyone has had a great day - tomorrow is my Friday and then a nice calm four day weekend. I do see another dog bath in my future - I just can't seem to get all the smell out of his face.

pixiedust:WELCOME Cheryl and family WELCOME :grouphug: Glindmood, Did you try tomatoe juice? it work's maybe it would do good on his face, sorry you had that on you this weekend . I'm trying to catch up I just got back to work from my four day's off and came back to a mess. Well, I did it, I got my ressies in yesterday.:yay: I just have to grab the bag's and I'm out the door yep! I'm packed:banana::dance3: And the way I feel today I need it.

looking for over the door shoe holder

** Just realized *I* have nothing to wear. All I've bought is a swim suit cover up. If you see me, I'll be the one wearing the black swim cover all week **:hippie:

I'll be wearing the white cover-up!

I found the over the door shoe holder at Walmart on clearance in the college dorm area.

Wow! I thought I would just read a few posts since this morning...but not with this group! Love it!

Like I said on my last post, ordered the FE from gradysmommy on ebay. It's a four pocket with Mickey and Gang in their cruise attire! I want to be able to use it on the next cruise that I will book onboard for 2012! She emailed me today and said it will be mailed tomorrow! I will post a pic when it comes!
Do a search on ebay and gradysmommy has some with Mickey heads that can be personalized listed...

Welcome to all the new families! Our kids are going to have lots of people to play with. I noticed that one of the groups had another teenage girl, so pirateemma won't be alone in the stack!

Denise, I still can't believe you get to move to Orlando...I am so envious.

There is a thread with lots of info on FE along with pictures. I think if you search it you can find it. I will try to post a link tonight.

I know for sure my DH won't be wearing a tux. He will have his suit. I am trying to figure out what to put the girls in...maybe in a few weeks Costco will get their fancy holiday dresses...hmmmmmm

Come on NOVEMBER!:surfweb:

Sometime over the next couple of weeks we should probably get together (virtually) and figure out when everyone's leaving the boat for the Dolphin Encounter and/or Royal Swim. Maybe we can all meet up somewhere together and head off the boat together. And share the expense of transportation. Any few dollars saved is another DoD, right?QUOTE]

I think that is a great idea. I love to save a buck! Plus it would be like our own Double Dip Excursion booking! Let me know when we should "conference call" this plan!

I could put tomato juice on his face and just leave it there to dry - who cares if he eats it. We were told to use hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and Dawn dishwashing soap but to do all that around his eyes and muzzle is a bit creepy so I just did baby shampoo. It is WAY BETTER than it was but if he gets his face close to my nose, I can smell it. Poor guy - he must have taken it right in the face.

Did I tell you all about what happened a few days after that? We have a pretty log driveway and when I got to the bottom - there was a dead fawn (still had spots) but when I got home that night, it was gone. It had been hit (obviously) but not run over so I wonder if someone picked it up for either the hide or for the taxidermist. Not a good animal week last week (well, except for that dead skunk I saw the day after Walter got sprayed).

We fly 9 weeks from Friday so 9 weeks from today, I am done work. Just figured that one out - hot dog!!! Once we get past wedding #2, I can begin packing. Everyone have a nice evening.

Good evening all!

This thread is getting busier and busier...you can tell we are getting close! Finally booked airfare through Disney last night which makes things seem final. So we will be staying at the Hyatt the night before, I cannot believe the airfare out of North Dakota... last night it was 607 a piece:scared1:I guess with only one airline they can charge alot. So I just decided to use Disney. Has anyone used them?

So much going on here, so Denise Congrats on the new job! and Welcome to all the newbies!

Still going through a little guilt phase on not bringing the kids, so hopefully I can get over that.. but I keep remembering our cruise last year (our first) and cannot imagine the kids not being there...

Well I hope you all have a good evening!

My family and I are also going on this cruise, so I thought I would introduce ourselves.

Well, everyone's answered your questions, I believe so all that's left to say is :welcome:!!!!!! Please pull on the little yellow tag by your computer and make sure your seat belt is on tight because you're in for quite a ride with this group! And it's gonna be as exhilarating and fun as Soarin'!!!!

To get caught up on what's happening with the group, click on the link to Post 2140 in the bottom line of my signature. Also, we have a Google workbook with information on all our DIS cruisers. To access it and add your information, you need a google account. If you don't have one, just go to google and set one up. Then email your google address to me. My email is becky AT rebeccabrauncpa DOT com. I'll send you a link to the workbook and our private website.

Thanks a billion for taking care of these things!!!!! As you might guess, I hit the ground running at the office every morning (just a bit hyper, I guess) and don't stop until quittin' time. But I'm loving it!!!!

(check out Hypermommy and KC's original trip report for a princess view).

Now you're going to have to buy them a new computer monitor since you sent them to those ugly pictures that'll break their monitor! :rotfl2:

But honestly, that was the most perfect birthday ever. I was truly the princess for the night and King Charming made me feel so special and wonderful!!!!! But shhhhhhhh... don't let him know I said anything nice about him.

I just got back to work from my four day's off and came back to a mess

I wonder what my house is going to look like when I get home Friday? :rotfl2:

Wow! I thought I would just read a few posts since this morning...but not with this group! Love it!

.......

Yeah, right! Only a few posts from us. :rotfl2::rotfl2:
Have you tried Goodwill for the dresses? I can't remember what ages your girls are but the ones near our house (well, the one in Tallahassee) has great prom gowns and such. Maybe you could find something that will work with just a bit of hemming. The ones at our Goodwills are in something like the $10-$20 range.

Okay, I'll look into where we can do something like a chat that won't require a lot of hassle. What days/times would be good for y'all to get together virtually? I love the idea of it being our own Double Dip Excursion!!!! I feel another logo coming on.... something with dolphins instead of the ice cream cones, maybe..... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Still going through a little guilt phase on not bringing the kids, so hopefully I can get over that.. but I keep remembering our cruise last year (our first) and cannot imagine the kids not being there...

Just remember that time without the kids makes the marriage stronger which makes the family stronger. Yeah, that's the ticket! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

OMG! I just heard something on the local news. Apparently someone fell from a Carnival ship and spent an hour treading water about 20 miles from shore (if I heard right). First question I have is how on earth did Carnival not notice that someone went overboard?!?! I just saw something on TV last week about all the cameras they have all over these ships.

But, the man was rescued -- by the Wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Marvelous Mickey saved his life!!!

Update: just heard that Carnival did apparently notice that he went overboard because the local news mentioned that the Coast Guard had mounted a rescue mission. He was apparently picked up by the Wonder at 12:37. The news guys even asked if you could imagine how dark it was out there then. I have to say I wonder how the Wonder could even see him. A lone head bobbing in the water would be incredibly hard to see.

Update at 6:35AM - more info on the local news about this. Apparently this guy was on the Wonder and was tweeting about the incident. His feed is at http://twitter.com/BigHeadDennis if you want to read it (note: his first post re the incident does include a curse word so if this offends you don't go there). Apparently the crew of the Wonder got on the PA system and asked everyone to be quiet so they could pinpoint the guy by his yelling.

PS --> hope no one minded me posting this but I figured it was somewhat on topic. It'll be interesting to find out how the guy went overboard. And to all the new cruisers... this is something that I was really worried about before my first cruise. In fact when the kids were younger it's part of what kept me from cruising (nowadays I figure it'd be something like natural selection if they did something stupid enough to allow them to fall overboard..... hey, I had an heir and a spare for a reason, right?). But once I got on board the Magic my first time and saw how high the railings were and everything it never once bothered me at all.

Count us in. Now that we're booked for the dolphin encounter, I think it would be lots of fun to make this a double dip excursion. I know my DD is looking forward to doing things together with her new friend Allison (Travelbee's DD). So, if we can arrange transport together it will be just like one big group outing.

Here is a FE thread I found, if anyone wants to take a look.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607&page=14

I got some good ideas from it.

Some of these FEs are amazing. We took a completely different tack from most. My DW and DD decorated small canvas bags for each of us and then they attached them all to a long ribbon. So, while ours won't be the prettiest, it was a great Mom-daughter bonding craft. And, you will definitely know which one is ours. I guess it doesn't matter how you get a FE, it's the fun and surprise of the gift exchange that counts.

I would say that was one lucky guy!

TGIF - for me anyway. I am so ready for a long weekend, bring it on I say. I hope that everyone has a great day and a fun weekend. I am not going anywhere, just putzing around town and the house but looking forward to sleeping in and being lazy in the mornings.

Denise's Daffy Disney Double-Dippers Do the Dolphins???

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Seriously, though, I think getting together virtually somehow to coordinate transportation is a good plan. Just let me know how and when.

I read an article saying that the man "jumped". Then someone posted a comment "was the service that bad?"
