:welcome: Bamfield and family. Happy to see you posting. Planning to cruise - do you mean there ARE other things to do? UMMM, is that why the hamper is spilling over???

I am sitting at the office while I wait for my car to be finished. Bearings (or ball joints, I don't know, understand or really care, just want to be safe when I drive) and a pipe that has something to do with the exhaust needed replaced. But, I think I will begin the half mile walk to get it shortly, even if they don't call me.

I guess we'll just have to find out together, won't we? :rotfl2:

I have only had way too much to drink once in my life and I got SO SICK I said I would never do that again. I was 16 (Christmas party) and have not done it since. It was just awful. It has been a long time since it was just too much - I am not crazy about that "no control" thing. Two or three are generally enough for me.

Cool - thanks!

I have a new problem... our family is camping next weekend. That means no internet access when reservations opens on Friday night!!! :scared1: DH said the closest internet hot spot is 30-minutes away. What do you think? Make that drive or wait til Sunday night?

this is probably late, but remember others have made ressie's earlies if they were cat1,2 or 3. good luck making reservations though, even though it sounds like you made them already. Just have them ready to go.
I am having trouble with the new DCL cruise site, keeps knocking me off then need to log in again. so i don't know if you might have the same issues.

If any of you are going to WDW pre-cruise, don't forget the VERY MICKEY CHRISTMAS PARTY, you need special tickets and they only do cetain nights. But it's great!!! If you get there at opening you can basically walk right onto the rides. That was some time ago and the secrets out, but We had such a great time.
We were thinking about doing it the night before the cruise, but figured we would be exhausted on Cruise day.
So, its just the pool at the Hyatt MCO for us. It's tough getting old(47,but I think children age you more than your actual age-)

Cya,
xxcell

I am 100% certain that the DCL reservation system opens up for shore excursion/Palo bookings at 12:00am on the east coast and 9:00pm on the west coast.

Well, that would explain why I didn't get anything when I got up at 3 am to book before last cruise.

Linda - there was a time when those of us on Eastern time had to get up at 3:00, I remember doing it on the Southern 11 night on the Wonder but then my memory gets a bit foggy. MUCH better now that it is midnight.

I thought it was midnight eastern, not Pacific. It was the last time I needed to make ressies anyway. Because I will be napping and getting up about 11:45 tonight to get the computer warmed up etc. to make our Ahoy St. Croix ressies.

Your right, it is midnight EASTERN time. Travelbee, we can book at 9:00 our time. I am confused on the day. I thought it was Saturday night for West Coasters, Sunday morning for East coasters...

Still gotta make my final payment on Monday with my TA. I waited for the credit card cut off so we would have another month of float time.

Me too! I just got the email today that my credit card statement is ready, so I can call my TA on Monday and tell her Go At Throttle Up.

I normally am just a reader to these threads but I just wanted to thank all you for just making me smile! :) You guys are great! I love to think that there are others out there who live to make plans for the cruise. Note: I am only on page 75 of your wonderful plans but from what I read so far everyone is going to have a blast.

My family is looking forward to the double dip as on our first cruise (March 2008) we didn't get to go the Castaway Cay due to high winds.

Mousemom11 - I take about 11 books for a 7 day vacation and you are welcome to mine anytime. However, my romances books are trend towards historical.

:welcome: to our crazy double dip!! Let's hope we can get you to CC at least once this trip. I'd love to swap books with you. I read all kinds of romance novels, but historical ones hold a special place in my heart, especially the Regency period.

Your right, it is midnight EASTERN time. Travelbee, we can book at 9:00 our time. I am confused on the day. I thought it was Saturday night for West Coasters, Sunday morning for East coasters...

Hang on, I've got a calendar right here....dig, dig. So, let's see, 30 days hath September....carry the 4...divide by pi...voila! 90 days is Sunday, 8/16. So, for the West Coasters, you log in on Saturday 8/15 at 9 pm.

To all of you book readers who like historical fiction - I just finished "The Sunne in Splendour" by Sharon Kay Penman (all 936 pages of it!). It is about the life of King Richard III in England during the 1700s and ends with the birth of King Henry VIII. It was the most fascinating story I have ever read and according to the book reviews is pretty factually accurate. The author does admit to making a few things up to fill in the gaps, but she tried to keep it as accurate as possible. I already purchased 3 more of her books (The Welsh Trilogy) and can't wait to read them.

As for the time to make reservations, I have to get up at 3:00am PST to make my dining reservations for WDW! :scared1:

These are the reservations I am hoping to make. What do you think?

Hoop Dee Doo Review
Artist Point
Whispering Canyon breakfast
Ohana Breakfast
Chef Mickey's breakfast
1900 Park Faire Dinner
Tusker House lunch
Biergarten lunch

Haven't made reservations yet since we're in Cat 10.

Gail - can you remind me what day we're trying to get for the group brunch at Palo?

I checked and sure enough, we can book Palo and excursions on AUG 16 - that means 9:01 Saturday for us west coasters! Glad you pointed it out - or we'd have driven 30 minutes from the campsite on Friday night and found out reservations don't open for another day!

Didn't mean to worry you. They always save slots, or at least they used to, for the diff cats.
You should get what you want.
And I know for certain Palos leaves res slots open.:thumbsup2

Disney online cruise check in--done

Hugs and kisses!!! That's what I thought but I always screw things up when I think I have everything planned to a "t"!

I have a question:
Someone explain the free dining gig? DH says go ahead and plan another day in from of the cruise. Which means that if I can change our airfare without breaking the bank, then we would be leaving the 11th inside of the 12th. We have room only at POFQ (killer deal) that I don't want to give up just to eat for free. You get my drift? So what exactly is the free dining pin code I keep reading about, and what are my options? Can I add on QS dining to our reservation? Because I don't see us sitting down for a long TS with the girls knowing their travel history, however, I don't want to miss out on something because I didn't have the correct information...

BTW: I have called Disney and to be honest, I think I sometimes know more than the CS who I speaking with...the last one was a doosy!

Thoughts my cruise planning gods/goddess?

My understanding is that to get the free dining, you have to pay rack rate for your room at the resort for a minimum # of days. I'd price it out with the "free" DDP and compare to what you have now. Do you think that you can eat for less than that difference on your own? If so, then just keep what you have and pay as you go for meals.

I have never done DDP, but here is my overall impression of what the DDP will do to your trip, based on what I've read here on the boards.

The focus of your trip will change to eating - when, where, and how to get there. Your schedule will be tied down to your ADRs and you'll lose a lot of flexibility in touring the parks. And God forbid you have to go eat at another resort if you don't have a rental car. It will take you forever on the buses. Now, maybe with QS it won't be so bad because it's CS. But the minute you throw TS in the mix, it becomes All About Your ADRs.

Last time DH and I did a solo trip it was all about eating...I lost weight because of all the walking, but your right, its all about the ADR's. I'm only interested in CS anyways, since the girls will be with us. We've done several character meals at DL and WDW. Not into it this cruise. Then I start thinking about the whole thing and think: This trip was suppose to be about the cruise anyways right? What to do, what to do?
:surfweb:

I will have to talk to someone tomorrow at WDW to figure out my options...

Great news for you MouseMom!!!!

<vent>
Unfortunately, we're gonna have to wait to get a check from my client before we can make that final payment. But KC got it down to a relatively reasonable amount yesterday. Note: I said "relatively".... ain't nothing about Disney pricing that's actually reasonable. And I can get my final check until I send an invoice. And I can't send an invoice until I get a final checklist of what remains to be done sent to the client. And I can't get that done until one more person over there completes her testing of what I've done so far. So I'm waiting on them. Arrrrrggggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!

But I can't complain too much..... since the last check took 3 days to get here, they volunteered to deposit it in my bank for me. That was soo sweet.
</vent>

But I'm just so excited that we're at the 90 day mark that I went and updated all my checklists from last time. Got the cost estimate spreadsheet done (sure was nice not to have that $400 for passports this time) and the packing list done and the shopping list done. Whew!

Bamfield, :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

I misread your post at first and thought your double dip wasn't until March of next year. Stupid, I know.... I can only say that I blame it on the project. But it's great to have you with us!!!!! I've been maintaining a spreadsheet ..... well, it's turned into a bona fide workbook .... of information for the cruise including who's in what cabin, who's participating in fish extenders, who's doing the secret mickeys, IM addys, and a whole bunch more information. Please get a google account (if you don't have one already) and PM me with your google account email or send it straight to my email addy (addy is in my signature) and I'll get you invited to edit the spreadsheet so you can put all your info in. There's also links in my signature to other pieces of information (secret mickey info, latest summary of the spreadsheet, etc). And when I get the PM or email from you I'll send you the link to our "private" website (private in quotes because there's no real protection on it other than we're very careful with who gets the URL). Oh, and if you send an email, please put something distinctive like "DOUBLE DIP INFO FROM BAMFIELD" in the subject. I get hundreds of emails a day and I'd hate to delete it by accident and then you think that I'm ignoring you.

I think the DDP that's associated with the lower cost rooms is the CS DDP. I don't remember which resort you said you were staying in but it might be that the DDP that's being offered is a CS one.

I don't have a lot of info on the DDP because we've never done it. Since we don't do the MYW package (always had passes in the past) and get FLARES rates on the rooms, the free DDP was never an option and we came out cheaper just doing a TS meal or two on our own. And besides, when we go, we usually take a 6' table and our microwave and dorm fridge. That cuts down on food cost a LOT. Of course, I could see where that might be difficult to do if flying in.

/me ducking and running

Okay.... back to the project.....................

Great news for those who got their ressies and/or about to make them.

Things always have a good way of working out.

Soon all the hard part will be over and it's FUN IN THE SUN ON OUR DOUBLE DIP:dance3:

Good morning everyone. Not a very restful night night last night in the Lindamood house - I got up at 11:55 to make our ressies for the Eastern cruise, for the most part got what I wanted and then couldn't get back to sleep! Can't say that I was 'too excited to sleep' but something was going on. I should have gotten up and run the vac - now that is staring me in the face and needs done before I leave for TC and my shower shopping.

I hope that everyone has a great day!

Susie - we are flying in from LAX on the 11th. We were staying at POFQ, but upgraded to the WL. When I made my original reservation they were not offering free dining, but when I saw it on the website I called immediately and added it to our reservation even though we are only staying 3 days. We decided to upgrade to deluxe dining for $220.00. I posted my ADRs in an earlier post. I made sure to schedule them at places that were easy to reach from our hotel - this is why we decided to upgrade to the WL. For us it worked out to be a great deal, but if you already have a good room rate and want mostly counter service, it probably won't be worth it for you. We are going to take it easy in the parks and only plan to visit AK and Epcot. Since we live near DL and go there at least once a week we don't feel the pressure to see and do everything. DH is looking forward to eating and drinking his way around the World Showcase. Good luck with your planning. Airfare changes can be really ugly!

I just made that change with my TA. We added an additional nite at POFQ for the 11th. So we are staying for a total of 3 nites. I believe because we were using a DC Visa we got our dining for free and we got the regular dining plan since we are staying at a moderate resort. So it worked for us. Good luck!
