I haven't heard anything. I was kind of waiting until Fizzgig got back to really get moving on plans but now that she's not going, I think that we should start organizing. I could put together a spreadsheet and maintain it and make it available on Google documents. On my last cruise we tracked things like who was going to attend the DIS meet we had the first day, who was going out to dinner together the night before, what the name and gender and age of the kids were (so they could start to know each toher), who was participating in fish extender fun, who was dressing for pirate night, who had what excursions (so you'd know if any of you boardmates were ont he excrusion with you), etc.

I could do this for this trip but I didn't want to step on anyone's toes. Anyone already started something like this? I'll give it a few days to see if anyone answers and if not I'd be happy to start something like this up.

I think a spreadheet is a great idea!! I want to get to meet all you great people! This would also give us an "updated" list of who is coming! And I can see who is doing what etc cause I am nosey
We will be at MVMCP ( I am hoping it starts mid Nov) the night before. Would love friends to join us!

what is a fish extender?

A fish extender is a cute little "holder" for each family member to hang on the fish that is on the outside of your stateroom door. and it works like a gift exchange. You draw names to see who you get and you bring small gifts usually Disney related or personalized to the person/people you draw. and each night or how every you want to do it. You "sneak" to the person room and put in their goodies.
I hear It's quite fun & other are so sad they didn't get the news before they sailed so they could play along!
I also make fish extenders to sell.
Just type in fish extender into google and you'll get a good idea of what they look like or can look like.

Something else we did on the last cruise I was on is that folks that wanted to share pictures of themselves sent them to me and I loaded them on my website. There was no login security or anything like that but I only sent the URL to folks that shared pictures. Basically, unless someone's specifically looking for that information I figure they're not gonna find it. Who'd feel comfortable with sharing pictures like that?

I can't wait to see your shirts and such!!!! BTW... does anyone know if the person who did our logo is still going on the trip or was s/he attached to Fizzgig?

And, nc_monkey, this is a fish extender. I'm going to be re-using this basic FE but I'll be "plussing" it somehow. But basically it's a lot of fun to come back to your room and find that folks have left you little circies (presents) in your FE. It's usually nothing major -- candy, little toys, etc. We got a bunch of pirate stuff from Oriental Trading and made our rounds to the FEs on Pirate Night. So everyone got pencils and notepads and yo yos with pirate motifs. Hope that helps.

KC's not gonna like it but I'm going to have to re-do some of the magnets too. My graphic arts skills have grown in the interim and some of what I'm seeing there on the door I'm just cringing at! LOL

Anyone else getting as excited as me?????? I just don't know how I'm going to get through these next several months!!!

Hi, I "spoke" to Fizzgig and she has passed along the website URL to her travel agents (who are still selling group space on the DD). I think we should just go ahead and do our own thing....

I've got the logo in various sizes. I'd be more than happy to take care of door magnets, etc.

Hypermommy, if you are willing to start up spreadsheets/Google documents, etc. that would be TOTALLY AWESOME!!

On our first cruise, our Meet Thread didn't really do anything (NOT that I didn't want to get involved!!). It was a Pal Mickey group who only did activities involving their plush animals......

So, our Canadian Thanksgiving is now over, today is our Election Day and I have a gazillion things to do but I would much rather be here on the DIS talking to my friends........

And binky, wha'ts the largest resolution you have of the logo? I'm gonna make t-shirts for our family for the first day. It really helped finding all the DISsers last cruise that my family was all wearing t-shirts with the logo on the back and a lime green mickey head with our board names on the front pocket area.

I guess 8.5x11 is gonna be the biggest I'd need since that's the largest I can print at home. I'd want that one because anything smaller doesn't look right on the back, IMO.

I'll add that to my list of things to do (setting up something for the pictures).

Don't think anywhere would print them (i.e., cafe press or anything like that) because of copyright problems. Anyone know? But I just went to Walmart and got iron on paper last year and used that with white t-shirts. Cheap and effective.

I'm with you... I'm so ready for the elections to be over. Ain't neither one of them worth a darn anyway. Ugh! If we just didn't tear a candidate apart these days maybe we could get someone worthwhile in the office.

Okay, I've got the spreadsheet created. And I found out google docs has a new thing that allows me to set up a form and you enter the info and it goes directly into the spreadsheet. So... if you'd all be so kind as to fill out this form

it'd make gathering the data quite easy on me. After some folks have filled it out I'll start posting things like who's doing what excursions, who's participating in the fish exchange, who's dressing for pirate night, etc.

I wanted to also let you know what I'm going to do with the info you post about your kids. I'm quite sensitive to the safety of children online and while I don't think a predator of any kind would troll the DISboards looking for info he might gather on kids, I don't totally discount the possibility either. So what I'll be doing with the info about kids will be just a general posting, such as:

Females ages 0-3 - X
Females ages 4-7 - X
Females ages 8-10 - X
Females ages 11-13 - X
Females ages 14-15 - X
Females ages 16-17 - X

and, of course, the same thing for the males. Then, let's say you have a daughter that's 7 years old and I post the listing saying there's a total of 4 females ages 4-7 on our trip. If you want to get to know more about other girls that will be on the trip you can post a message asking the parents of other girls that age to PM you. Then y'all can get to "know" each other and tell your daughters whatever you'd like about the other girl.

I know... it's probably overkill. But I'm really sensitive to issues about kids' safety on the net.

Okay.... so there's that.

Also... if you're interested in what everyone else coming on the cruise looks like, I'm gonna set that up too. It'll probably be this weekend before I have a chance to get to it, but if you'd like your picture shared and would like to see what others look like please send your photo to designsbycrazydiamond AT gmail DOT com. And put "DOUBLE DIP DELIGHT" in the subject line. Once I get your photo included in the photo gallery I'll PM you the URL of the thing. Only those that share pictures get to see pictures.

Okay, so there's that too.

Now.... who's started thinking of what's going to go on their door as magnets. I've only really decided upon one or two. They were things I did for the last cruise and I liked them so much I decided to use them again.

As for the rest of the magnets, shhhhhhh, don't tell King Charming, but I'll probably be doing something new for those.

Can ya tell I'm getting really excited? Hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes by doing all this. I'm just a planner/organizer type of person. If I've stepped on your toes, please, please, please let me know and I'll back off. I'm not intending to hurt anyone's feelings or anything but really to help.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?! It's totally awesome that you are taking this task on!!! Of course, I can totally relate since my friends say I suffer from Helium Hand - I can't seem to say no to anything.

I will gladly fill out the spreadsheet and once I find some decent pictures, I'll send them along. And I totally agree about the security stuff re: our kids - you can never be too safe.

I have also been working on "some" magnets (I think I'll have enough for everyone including non-DIS cruisers ) so yes, I am also very excited about the whole adventure......

Yeah binky1 and hypermommy!! You guys are making me excited. I love to do crafty things. Let me know what you may want to do... I was thinking maybe organizing lanyards (don't remember who said it first) or a waterproof box (customized), keychains, flashlights, fe's. I was also thinking that we could set up a flickr pro account or something where we could all post our the pictures you want to share before and after the cruise.

binky1, I wanted to make something also for all our diser's on this cruise too, but I can't figure out how many... 50, 75, 100, 125? How are you estimating this?

hypermommy, I think the shirt idea is good. I usually make shirts for all our disney trips and I was going to do one for this too. It would be great to coordinate, if folks are interested of course.

Virginia Our DDs are the same age! Mine will be 5 and a half at time of cruise. She will miss a 7 days of kindergarten-OH WELL, it's DIsney baby!! Thanks for wanting to make something fun. I am limited crafty so I appreciate those who really are

I will admit I was stunned by the prices for 2010-this will probably be our last 7 day for a long time. We hope to do a Land and Sea in 2111. I did go to the RCCL website last night- I know, I know. There is a very similar cruise with a bigger room and less $$ for Nov 09.....

But as I sit at the table with my beautiful "mini" entering data into a spreadsheet created by someone I already consider a friend, watching her color in a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse coloring book she recieved in the "fishy" exchange from our May cruise, screeching to see "dancing nanas and the Mickey Boat" I KNOW why we are cruising Disney-it's the Magic

Hypermommy, you rock!! Thank you so much for stepping up to the plate with all you've done and will do. I filled out the spreadsheet today. I also have OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Planning Disorder) and would be happy to help. I'm not a real crafty person, but fortunately have a good friend who is and who will help me with FEs, door magnets, etc. However, I have great organizational skills, so would be more than happy to contribute that way, perhaps helping to plan the DIS meet, coordinating various activities, etc. I'll send you a PM about this.

No, no, no - don't even look elsewhere - just like you said - you KNOW why you have chosen DCL and this particular cruise. Probably the same reason as the majority of us ....

I know that we really shouldn't be spending the $$$ either but we all know how special these trips are with our kiddos and families. Even though it's been over 20 months since our last (& first) cruise, my DD8 will say out of the blue every once in a while - "Mom, if we were on the cruise, what would we be doing today???" and of course, being the OCPD person that I am, I reply... "Well, honey, it's Monday so it's our first Day at Sea... "

Mommyarewegoingback - I haven't come up with a number of DISers yet - I guess we'll have to see how much info Hypermommy is able to gather...

Back to the - why is it that it's neverending????
