11 & 13 Too old for Family Magic Tour?

I'm contemplating doing this one morning in Jan. at MK. I have an almost 13 yo DS and an 11 yo DD. I'm worried that the 13 yo will think it's too babyish, but maybe with the general lack of people in the park at that time, he won't be so concerned that other people might see him.

Has anyone had experience doing this tour with kids who are just beginning to be concerned about what others might think of them? Sometimes it's tough with 'tweens.

We went this past August, and my girls are 8 and 10, they truly enjoyed it, but another boy there who was probably 11, did not seem to have a good time, and was disrupting the "magic" from the rest of the group. It might be too old IMHO

We did it last year and although there weren't any "tweeners" in our group a lot of the kids didn't get as involved as the adults did. A couple of times some older kids approached to try to participate and truly seemed disappointed to not be able to do it (they were maybe 12 or 13). YOu could hear the parents saying things like "we didn't know you'd want to do it" and "don't worry we'll do it next time". iT's a fun tour even if you do it and he just walks along - perhaps a good time for him to get a chuckle out of what you guys are doing :)

Thanks everyone for your input! My son will either chuckle or disown us 'cause I know I'll act like a four year old...but I do that in Disney regardless of whether or not I'm on a tour. Disney just has that effect on me! :goodvibes

If he doesn't want to do it, I'm certainly not going to make him. I wouldn't want to ruin it for anybody else. Thanks again!

We did the Family Magic Tour. You really have to be Goofy, not embarrass easily, and still enjoy being a kid. We crawled, hopped, skipped, sang, and in general acted really Goofy in the park.

we I know my son can do that, I will have to get into it - though I am sure I will quickly, wont be "stuck up" for more then 1 minute I am sure :)

We just did it in August and we didn't have any kids older than 8 in our group. I would say, how "cool" do your kids think they are, if you know what I mean. IMHO, now that I have done it, and thinking about the kids I know that are 11 and 13, they would not participate in it, BUT, that is only my opinion.

I bet they would not enjoy it. We did it when our son was 5 and we had a ball. But now he is 12 and he said he wouldn't want to do it again, even if he had not done it before. It's more for little kids and their parents.

My kids were DD 13 and DS 11 and we were left on the outside of the large group. We totally understood the younger ones were the main focus with the tour guide. We all just sat back and watched the ones around the 5-10 year old range really eat it up. My kids were good sports, but was a a let down for our family. By all means, give anything at WDW at least one try, different strokes for different folks. Have fun... :wave2:

How about making it a MOM and DD thing? Just girls...I bet your DD would enjoy it. Mine was 11 when we went and she had a blast. She does not embarass easy except for when I want to give her a kiss goodbye at school...lol The guys could have a specail plan for themselves that AM and you could meet up for lunch. Just a idea....

This is what we did. I took my ds for his 5th birthday, and my dd (almost 11) came along with us. Ds (13) and dh had a few hours to do their own thing. We met at the Crystal Palace for lunch. Everyone had a great time!
