Anyone else sailing on 11/13/08?

This will be our first 'real' Disney cruise...we were on the Big Red Boat for our honeymoon in Nov 1988.

Our trip is going to be 6 nights at the parks before the cruise. We havent decided where we are staying, but the cruise is booked.

"we" are me & dh (40-somethings) and ds who will be 10 when we cruise.

We are also on this cruise :) And we are also doing a land vacation first. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!! We are me, DBoyfriend, DSis, DM and DF. No kids unfortunately. The youngest is 31 :(

I love our matching countdowns, LOL

I saw you tried getting into the house party chat tonight. I got in with no problem, but as soon as I was in my computer would freeze up and knock me off line.

Back to our trip....where are you staying before the cruise? Im 99% sure we'll be at POFQ from Friday eve - Thursday morn.

Ya, I eventually gave up on the House Party :( I was at work and suppose to be working so I guess it was good that I didn't get on LOL!

We are staying at CSR from Sat 11/8 till Thurs. 11/13 We are apart of a Grand Gathering so the rest of the family wanted to stay there. My side of the family are the only ones doing the cruise. We stayed at POR in 12/05 and we really liked it. Both POR and PORFQ are beautiful. Does PORFQ have a DCL counter in it? We do not have one at CSR but I read that we can just go to the Swan or Dolphin. This is my dad's first cruise and he is not into "a hassle" so I am hoping it goes smoothly. He is not too sold on the whole cruise thing so I am hoping he falls in love with it and wants to do more:)

Bumping since we are getting closer...there has to be more people out there going on this cruise.

Update since I started planning this trip...
We bought DVC a few months ago and got enough incentive points, banked points, etc to do the cruise on points (use them or lose them).

Our pre-cruise stay is going to be at SSR.

We also just ordered our tix for MVMCP on 11/11

My husband and I are also on this cruise. Looking forward to a long weekend getaway without the kids.We love the adult only areas and Palo.

Hi Everyone - I'll be joining all of you on this cruise (solo since I'll be working).

Monkeygirl - hope your dad enjoys the cruise. My parents cruised with us on a 7nt and they discovered they are just land people.

A working cruise? I would love to be able to do that! More excuses for cruises;) Ohhh, I hope my dad doesn't have the same reaction as your parents.:worried: That is why we are starting him off with the 3 night. I think the 7 night would freak him out even though we all love it.

Working on a cruise?

Glad to see more people joining us.

Anyone planning excursions?
I don't think we are going to sign up for anything. We will probably spend just a few hours in Nassau. I know it's tacky and not all that great, but I want to at least see the 'new' straw market. It's been 20 years since we were there last. We'll also do some other shopping and maybe find our way to the pirate museum. Other than that, I'd rather explore the ship.
Same thing for Castaway. My DH isnt a 'beach' person, so Im guessing we'll only be there for the morning and through lunch.
I may try for a spa treatment one of the days. And depending on when it is, we'll probably go to the DVC mixer.
No Palo for us either....I really want to experience all the dining rooms.

I think we are going to head to the beach at Atlantis and then be on the adult beach at Castaway Cay. It is the one thing luring my father, he loves the beach.

No Palo for us either...only 3 nights and 3 restraunts :) We want to expereice them all too.

Yep -"work" for me. We have clients we're rewarding so I'm just making sure all goes ok...pretty easy thanks to DCL! I'll be on an August cruise to check things out since it's been 3 years since we last sailed.

Not sure of excursions for this trip. I'm going to offer out to our group to do excursions in Aug that they may want to do on this cruise but are unsure. I do know I will parasail at CC... love it! I may also do a self-guided walking tour of Nassau but I'm happy just staying on ship.

Re Palo - one suggestion I read, depending on your dining time, is to just arrange a seating for dessert or apps/dessert and dine in your regular rotation room earlier or later. EVERY time we eat at Palo, DH always says Palo's chocolate souffle is worth the price of the cruise.

Ohhh parasailing! I have always wanted to try that but chicken out. Maybe this time I will do it!!

And thanks for the tip on Palo. That sounds like a good idea. I was heart broken about missing the chocolate souffle. I am with your husband, it is worth the price of the cruise!

Hi! This will be our first cruise... we are so excited! :) It will be my husband and I, along with our three kids (5 year old triplets) and my Mom. We'll be celebrating my 40th.

We are especially looking forward to Castaway Cay. We are already thinking about going on a 7 day cruise next year that stops here twice. :)

I'm trying to decide whether to go visit Atlantis, or just stay on the ship while in Nassau.

Hope to see you all in November!

Jennifer

We are planning to get off in Nassau for a couple hours at most. DelSol, Straw Market, etc. Just to say we did it, KWIM?
Sam (ds) wants to do whatever tours he can onboard, so we'll try to do those on the Nassau day.
Same holds true for Castaway. DH is not a beach person, so our tentative plan is to stay on Castaway through lunch and then get back onboard and see what's being offered.

We finally hit double digits for the trip and the excitement is growing.

I will be on the cruise as well!! We are going to SSR from 11-8 to 11-13. Then when we get back were staying at AKV for two days. Did you all know the space shuttle will be taking off the night before our cruise!!Were planning to try to get tickets to the launch. I just booked Palo, Atlantis, and a couples massage!! My boyfriend has never been to Disneyworld so I can't wait!!:cool1:

We're checking into SSR the day before you. Are you doing MVMCP while you're there?
We have ADR's for Donald's Breakfast, Sci-Fi, LaCellier, Turf Club and Tony's (same night we are doing MVMCP)

I didnt know about the launch. Can you see it from WDW?

It's a night launch so I am pretty surey you will be able to see the glow. It's amazing how its the same time were here. If we get launch tickets we will also do Kennedy Space Center. We want to do lunch with an astronaut. We have the Sci-Fi but now I have to move things around due to the shuttle. I don't know about the MVMCP because I have a season pass to Disneyland. I can just see the holdiay program here and they don't charge in California.
