11/10/05 Wonder 3-nights Anyone going?

We have the late dinner seating.

I am doing my own Nassau shore excursion courtesy of a reference to this idea in "Passporter's Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line and Its Ports of Call" second edition page 154. I have always wanted to see the Atlantis resort and play in their pools, lazy river, water slides through sharks, etc. The only way to have access to their pools is by being a resort guest. The cheapest room I can find at Atlantis is $305.00. However, the Comfort Suites Paradise Island, Bahamas, has access to their pools. So I have booked a room for four there. Internet users rate (same as AAA rate) of $171.00 (2 double beds, smoking [non smoking rooms seem hard to come by, but I am not planning on being in the room]). They add on 12% tax and $4.00 per person over 12 per night housekeeping gratuity and $4.00 per person over 16 per night energy surcharge. I therefore estimate that our cost will be about $208.00 plus the cost of a taxi cab ride to and from the resort. Their website indicats that they are located adjacent to the Atlantis Resort and their guests have full use of the Atlantis facilities: pools, beach, tennis, health club, water park and signing privileges in all of their gourment/specialty restaurants/lounges. I beleive Atlantis charges everyone additional $ to access their aquariums. I did call the Comfort Suites and confirmed that I could check in early and get my passes to go over to the Atlantis Resort. I figure we will end up paying about $62.50 per person for the excursion with taxi fare, not including any food or souvenirs. The Atlantis Beach Day excursion is $60 for an adult and $45 for a child (barring any price increases) and does include a meal voucher, but no access to Atlantis pools, water park or aquarium, just retail areas and the casino, so I feel like what I am doing is a better deal. For me, this is perfect, giving me access to exactly what I want and I can do it on my schedule. I am sure it is not for everyone though, any thoughts? :sunny:

Hi wackywexler, I think that sounds great but I am NOT an expert. I have read about others doing the same thing.

Since this is our first cruise, I think we will be staying on the ship or perhaps we might do a little walking around the island.

Michboro, We have the late seating but that's because we are three adults. From what I have read, many people with young children request the early dinner seating.

Who else has or does not have shore excursions?

Thanks on compiling this list!

NSmith...you missed the 'last one' :rotfl2: Just laughing b/c our first two line up. Hope that doesn't hurt any feelings....just playing

Dear Pewing; If I had a 9 month old I would have a lot of explaining to do to DH, if you get my drift!! :rotfl2:

Hey wackywexler,

I found this thread and thought you might want to check it out. It's Atlantis for $99 unfortunatley it's not for our November time frame. However, you might want to keep an eye on that website for more details such as this.

I believe that there are 18 of us going. All of the kids going are girls ranging from 3 to 10! :earsgirl:

We are "staying" at the Comfort Suites as well for our day in Nassau. We will be exploring the Atlantis hotel.

Some of us will be visiting the MK on Wednesday and are staying at the Nickelodeon Family Suites in Orlando then driving to PC on Thursday morning!

This is our first Disney Cruise! :cool1:

We will also be doing the Comfort Suites/Atlantis deal for Nassau day.
We have 2 boys ages 6 & 7.

My DD's are 7 and 4.

The kids going are

(2) 10 yr. old
(2) 7 yr old
(1) 4 year old
(1) 3 year old

We're not sure where little boys come from! In our neighborhood, we have to import them from other areas!

I'm sure that our kids will definitely cross paths! :thewave:

Hi all. Im a little messed up trying to post so if this has already gone through I am sorry. I was glad to be notified of this thread as I lost track of it. Thanks for the list and now we have 18 more! We have early seating for dinner. We will probably stay on the ship as there is so much to do in only 3 days. We will happilykeep the kids if their parents want to check out Atlantis. We had the opportunity to stay there several years ago and it is beautiful. Im sure all of you who are going will really enjoy it! May I ask if any of you have taken out trip insurance? I am considering it.Im sure everybody is getting very excited as we count down!

We did purchase trip insurance. My DH is in the military, and I figured for the amount of money we are spending, it was worth it to spend a little more for the peace of mind it will provide me.
I am getting so excited, the kids are talking about this trip all the time! It is our first cruise, we will be spending 3 days in the parks first, staying at Shades of Green.

My intention was to take out insurance but didn't because...

My dad had terminal cancer and passed away last December. My FIL had cancer for 14 years and unexpectedly he passed away 5 months before my dad. So, our main reasons for taking the insurance are no longer valid. Should something unexpected arise, either my husband or myself would stay behind and handle the situation and the other would take the kids on the cruise. My MIL will be coming with us (and she did take the insurance), hopefully, she and my mom will stay healthy!

We really need this vacation after the crazy year we had last year!

Hi all,

I just wanted to check in with everyone.

I can't believe that it is less than 2 months away. So what is everyone doing to get ready?

Are you all taking passports? We are. I know that they are not mandatory yet but we have them so I rather be "safe than sorry".

Also, would love to get a DIS meet on the first day. I have never done this before so if anyone else would like to organize it just jump in.

From other threads, it seems that before, during or after the sail away party might be a good time. Again, if anyone has a different time in mind just speak up.

What do you think? :hyper:
