11/1 Booking with Costco (Feb ‘19)

I’ve booked all 3 of our previous DCL cruises myself or through a personal travel agent.

I’m really interested in booking a Feb 2019 through Costco this time for the Costco gift card.

I see I can book on 11/1 (as a silver). Can I book through Costco on 11/1? Or can Costco only book after its open to general public?

Will I receive a signicant price diff by booking on silver opening day vs. general public?

Also - we had booked a placeholder on our Jan ‘17 cruise, but I’m pretty sure we couldn’t use the 10% OBB disc since our desired cruise (2/24/19) is more than 24 months from that, right?

Thanks in advance for info!

You can book with Costco on 11/1. You call them up and they call up DCL. On the OBB, no, it won't be able to be used for that cruise since it is outside the window. You could book another short cruise to use it though :D Are you thinking of the Panama Canal cruise? :D

Yes on Panama Canal!! It may be outside our reach this year, but it’s a dream of mine :) One day we will get there!
If it’s a no go for us, I’ll just pick a back up choice to book on 11/1 that fits inside the obb discount window! I’m so excited to have another cruise “on the books” for our family!
Thank you for the info

You can use Costco to book on your silver opening day. When you call them, they will call Disney. You'll probably be on hold for quite a while and every once in a while the Costco agent will come back and say to you that they are still on hold with Disney. Holds times can be long on opening days.

As for whether you'll get a better price, it really depends on how well your cruise sells. Some cruises sell very quickly and go up in price very quickly, some are the same price even long after opening day.

I am also looking at the Panama Canal on 2/24/19.
I think its going to be a popular choice, DCL hasn't done one in winter before, but I could be wrong. I though they were mostly in April/May.
Hopefully, I will be booked in less than 24 hours.......:flower1::flower1:

I would love to use Costco, but I want to be able to book my excursions and not count on them to do it for me. If I want to change something I have to call them to do it, that would drive me nuts.
Especially because I want my SB cabana at CC.
Wasn't able to get one earlier this month on The Fantasy, booked too late.

You can still access your reservation on the DCL site and book excursions, spa, change dining, etc. when using Costco. The only thing you cannot do is change your stateroom.

Oh Really? I didn't know that, thank you!
So if I book it tomorrow morning at 8am, can I then give it to Costco? That would be a very nice gift card afterwards.

ETA: Sorry if this is a dumb question, but can I use my OBB with Costco Travel?

In the past, people have reported being able to book a cruise on their own, and then transferred to Costco still receiving the cash card. I do not know if this is still true today, you might want to contact Costco before you make your cruise reservation to check on that.

You can use an OBB with Costco. If you book an actual cruise on board, you just name Costco as your travel agent. If you book a placeholder on board, you also name Costco as your travel agent. If you did book the placeholder and did not name Costco, within 30 days of making that placeholder you need to transfer it to Costco.

If you are booking on opening day, with an OBB that was not previously transferred to Costco, I'm not sure if you could then transfer the resulting cruise.

You can book on opening day with Costco. You would call them, and then they would get on the phone with Disney.

I was a first timer, booked on my own and then transferred to Costco within 30 days. If you have OBB to transfer it would depend on when that was booked (you may be able to transfer the placeholder or reservation if it is within 30 days, but outside of that you are out of luck).

If you are within the 30 days, I would get it transferred to Costco asap so you can use it to book on opening day. It takes a couple of days so I would definitely call today.

I'm not sure I can even move it to Costco, but no worries.
I booked the 7 night British Isles cruise on opening day for fall 2018, we then sailed on April 30th and they transferred it to an OBB, it was still a benefit to switch it from opening day as far as $$. Then we found out our daughter in law is expecting a baby ( a surprise for them so soon after the wedding) She is due to go back to work right around the time of The British Isles cruise. I had told her she had no worries I am ready and willing to take care of the baby when she returns to work. So I cancelled the British Isles cruise and they just moved the reservation to a random cruise until we decided where we would sail. Anyway through all that it has been 6 months since I booked this originally, so I think Costco opportunities are long gone. Maybe next time. Tomorrow I will move it to the Panama Canal cruise for 2019.

Thank you :)

They have done one in winter before. My wife and I did the 01/06/11 - 01/21/11 WBPC. Very few kids onboard since it was a long cruise and schools were in session.
