11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

Anyone have any suggestions? I am a little torn - my bday is CC day and I have ressies for Palo which I have done before for dinner. I really want to enjoy pirate night (even though I know that menu isn't the best on Disney) so I was thinking if I could book brunch when I get onboard maybe we would drop our Palo dinner?! Am I crazy? Or does that make any sense at all? I would like to take our son to dinner during late dining and dress up etc. I feel like trying to do both will become stressful. pirate: Thanks!

I have never done Palo for dinner, but we have for brunch. My vote would be for brunch if you can get it. I don't like missing dinner with DD, so I will be trying for Brunch once on board.

My birthday is the 3rd, so I'm going to celebrate on board as well!

Only merchandise we'll be looking at is on the ship. So sad, we'll be so close to WDW, yet so far away.

I know what you mean - it's heartbreaking! We have DL AP's, so the day after we get home from the cruise, we're going there for the weekend to get our park fix. After all, it's "free"! :rotfl2:

Everyone: What is your favorite Disney/Pixar/Muppets Characters ?

While I don't consider myself a "horse lover", I really like Pegasus from "Hercules" and Maximus from "Tangled". Their human qualities are just amazing.

As far as "mainstream" characters - who doesn't love this guy:tigger:!

Boy, I hope we have better weather than the Dream cruise that set sail yesterday (or tried to!)

Love Maximus' attitude!

We don't need to worry about weather...I've got it covered! :littleangel:

Welcome Reto!

My hubby LOVES jungle book! It is one of his favorite from his childhood and we have shared that movie with our boys. They really like the movie too! It took me a while to get it added to our DVD library as it was very hard to find. I think I was searching to purchase it at a time when it was not for sale.

Your trip sounds exciting. You will have to be careful not to blink as you drive across the country. 6 days to see it all means you will not have a lot of time to makes sight seeing stops.

This was the very 1st MOVIE my DH and I saw together and he aske me If I would go to Disney World with him<3 LOL 27 days!!

Very smart that you showed the movie to your kids! The old classics are just too good to be forgotten. Looks like we have a couple Jungle Book fans on our cruise - how cool! I guess it's a must do that we all go see "Believe", featuring my buddy Baloo.

Yeah, I know I won't have too much time for sightseeing, but that's OK. I'm sure I will enjoy the different landscapes along our route. I think one of our first stops will be in New Orleans. Dad wants to see the JFK assassination site in Dallas and I really would like to see White Sands Natl. Monument in New Mexico.

You will be able to seethe nightmare before Christmas overlay at haunted mansion, it continues until January, you must go on it, it is great. As well as small world overlay.

Thanks for the tip, will check this out!

Thanks....now I have to decide whether to print them on magnet sheets or just laminate them...O the hard decisions that surround vacation planing...haha

Well, the least expensive option would be if you indeed laminate them and put some magnetic strips on the back. Magnetic sheets cost a small fortune. I'll go with the sheets however, since I still had a couple unused ones left from my last cruise two years ago.

There's an even cheaper option, that I do for our signs. Print them out on high-quality heavy weight gloss photo paper and then cut pieces from a roll of stick on magnetic 'tape."

Even cheaper is to cut up some old magnetic business cards and stick them on the back.

We are lucky aren't we - celebrating our birthday on the Dream! We will have to have a toast during our "champagne girls" meet. You will be there won't you?! :cloud9: And Happy Birthday early!

That's exactly what I did last week. I got the roll of magnet tape at michaels for $5.99 and used a 40% off coupon. Then I put them in a file folder with binder clips on each open side - so hopefully they are protected for their journey.

I am from Oklahoma just north of your route across country - you guys will love the 6th floor museum ie. John F. Kennedy assasination. Very interesting. We did a similar trip although just half way across country to DL and stopped at the meteor crater - amazing and even just the little kitschy route 66 stops are fun. We stopped at one in NM or AZ with all kinds of crystals and rocks - and ostrichs! My son thought that was pretty cool and I though it was silly but fun. Of course the Grand Canyon isn't too far off the route either - we hit that on our return trip. We went up the coast to Monterey/Carmel where my Dad lived in my tween, teen and college years so I could go check things out. He passed away 6 years ago at 57 so it was nice to see our old stomping grounds.

Also, my husband too is a huge Baloo fan, and our son is well versed in Bare Necessities and scratching his back Baloo style on the couch or wall - ha! Too fun. Looking forward to seeing you on our cruise!

hush - really! Thank you for the feedback everyone on Palo - I will see if brunch is available when I board and if so do that! I love fancy brunch and it sounds like Disney does it right!

I wonder if when you're at DL the Haunted Mansion will still have the "Haunted Halloween" overlay? I've always wanted to see that. Also, It's a Small World may have their Christmas overlay.

Was at Disneyland about two weeks ago and LOVED the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay!!! It changes the entire experience and even the decorations on the outside of the mansion. Jack Skellington was greeting folks outside.

My birthday is November 24. It's always Thanksgiving week and, this year, is Thanksgiving day so I'd love to be included in the birthday toast at Champagne Girls! I said I want to be taken out for Thanksgiving dinner--no hands all over a cold, pale turkey for me this year...

Andrea - of course - I think we are stil waiting to know more for sure but I think Pink opens at 5 on at sea day and that was when we are hoping to do the champagne drinking! Bring your tiara and/or boa! :lovestruc I am pretty sure ibouncetoo and some others including dthogue are having birthdays. So we will have some fun!

One of my best friends is Nov. 26 and she has the same thing with TG birthdays - I think out to lunch will be nice for you :) I hate juggling the raw turkey too! :scared1:

Great idea with the business card!! Thanks!

Just want to let you know that Orbitz has a sale for a limited time on the Country Inn and Suites at Port Canaveral. It's $111. That does not include the shuttle to the ship. I think you pay that at the hotel and it's about $4.00 a person.:santa:

Hi DISNEY CRUISERS

Okay, I was going to say Hi EVERYONE, but I need to refer to our group as something other than the word EVERYONE.

I have been busy with the last 24 hours updating to IOS 5 on the IPAD, I want to take it on our vacation to act as a computer on the go, especially for loading pictures and videos as I taken them with our point and shoot cameras or mobile phones. But it really isn't a great photography working tool, like a PC or MAC would be much better.

I don't intend to use it on the ship in WIFI mode, as we don't want to pay for any wifi pricey onboard services. I will be happy with my IPOD NANO for listening to music, if I need it. I will have all my WORD DOCUMENTS and PDF's I need for the trip Itinerary, Lists, etc. including the FISH EXTENDER Delivery and Deck Plan layouts. (Thanks for the previous posts about the PDFs !) I am not sure if I will read a book on the IPAD? I may get the Steve Jobs autobiography. I still can't get APPLE out of my mind ! Jay wants an IPOD TOUCH for vacation, he is tired of his IPOD CLASSIC.

I must leave some electronics at home, including the ORAL B electric toothbrush, but darn I want it too ?

I have the special extension travelling cord with the 3 outlets, and the built in extra USB ports and surge protector. I will have an additional extension cord, chargers, Airport Express for the WDW resorts.

I guess we are not leaving a great green footprint for all the electricty we will be consuming.

We will be definitely putting some of these electronics in the safe. I kind of remember it uses a combination that you set yourself?
It is easy to set?

I won't put the electric toothbrush in the safe !

Looking forward to meeting EVERYONE !

Phil and Jay

Hi DISNEY CRUISERS

I was shocked on our Panama cruise that we never needed to charge our SonicCare toothbrush. I didn't realize it would last that long between charges.

Only 11 more workdays!!!:)

Reto-LOVED White Sands. I was very pretty! I still have my little bag of white sand.

Thanks for encouraging me in visiting this place.:) Actually, I've never been to a real sand desert, so that will be very interesting for me. On the other hand, judging from some YouTube videos, it kinda looks like in Switzerland during winter with all the people sliding down the dunes. Going to be fun for sure.

PHILCT: I've never been on the Dream, but from your description it sounds like the safes are fairly standard ones, working the same way like many others you will find worldwide in hotels. You put in your stuff, close the door, enter a 4-digit number (you can choose that number by yourself) and then confirm it by pressing a "Lock" or "Set" button, which causes the safe to lock. If you want to open it again, all you do is to enter that number and the door will unlock. Pretty easy.
