11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

I'm really not that worried or I wouldn't be doing it with my nieces. The last time we were in Nassau part of my family took the Segway tour and they said their cab ride was a little wild like Mr. Toad's ride, the rest of us did the Dolphin Encounter at Blue Lagoon.:goodvibes

By the way, which car rental company did you book?

Right now we're with Budget with the DIS Board code as it was better than Costco's codes. I keep checking to see if it's come down.

We're staying at the Country Inn, so I think we'll be doing Hertz since it's next door. I plan to drop the car off right after we check in.

We be coming from AKV Kidani as we'll fly in on Halloween. My nieces are so excited since we'll be doing the MNSSHP on 11/1 and Discovery Cove on 11/2 before the cruise.

I started with my oldest niece letting her plan her own special trip when she was turned 6 yr old. This trip is planned by the next niece since she is now 6. I'm almost afraid of what my nephew and grandson will come up with when they turn 6. Each trip seems to get bigger than the last. Thank goodness for DVC.

My DD would love to do a Segway tour - can you tell me more about this? Did you book through Disney or an outside company?

Finally starting to get my act together for this Dream experience. Thanks Ian for the phone call(s) yesterday to get me rolling!

Sent facebook message to my 'crew' to work out dining. I can't even remember which people are on which cruise (or both). :sad2:

Will be sending off payment details to big sister in Chicago. And thanks AGAIN Ian for coordinating travel arrangements with her! Hope she doesn't balk at paying at 120 days...I'm Platinum for this cruise and I'm taking every advantage I can (like giving DCL money EARLY!) :lmao:

Once flight arrangements are made I'll be booking a mini van...or a BUS...to get the B2B friends to the airport on the 13th. Plus have to help the NC family contingent on their to/from Port Canaveral transport too! Hmmm....family conference call might be in order soon.

:sail::sail::sail:

Everyone...take a look at page one and see if you need any info corrected or added to the rouster and let me know.

.

Hi Jackie....do you want to make a note about Sally & Bill?? They're my non-DISer friends who joined us for Tortola.....they're on the 4 night only. Chris is not joining us.

Yes it was booked through DCL and if I remember right the min. age was around 14 or 16 yrs old. The week after my family went is when some segway riders were robbed at gunpoint and I don't think DCL has offered it since. They used the off-road segways on dirt roads. I wasn't on the tour so I don't know too much, but they all said they had fun.

I did a search and it looks like this private tour does kids 9 yrs old http://www.bahamassegwaytours.com/ I'd check out the reviews, but the few I looked at were good.

Hi Monica,

I just saw on your post that you live in Davenport, my husband is getting transferred to Orlando this summer, and we are looking at houses in Davenport, do you like living there and recommend it? We are on the 4 night cruise too and love Disney and can't wait to live near WDW and DLC cruises!

Thanks,
Joy

Hi Joy!! I love Davenport...I've been here since 2004, off of Route 54/Ronald Reagan, near Loughman. There are tons of housing developments around. I work close to downtown Orlando (Mall of Millinia exit). It's close to WDW, about 1 hr from Tampa, but yet not too crowded. Only bad thing is that you DO need a car....no buses come out this far :rotfl:

posted on FB, but..

Dh and I will be on the 11/6 only.. would love to link up to others in late dining..

Thanks, my DH's new office is near Sea World and we love WDW so we thought it was in a nice spot, kind of out of the city hustle and bustle but a close drive in. We have two kids, going into 7 th and 10th. Do you have kids in schools? Are the schools good?
Thanks:)

Joy

You mean here on page one? I'll add them in under yours as a 'traveling with' comment. :thumbsup2

Can't help at all with schools, sorry - no kiddos here. I don't have any friends w/ kids either. Bear in mind, that Davenport is in Polk County, while Sea World area is in Osceola....not sure if that would make a difference in how the schools are.

Thank you for the info - I thought maybe I missed it on the DCL website - my DH and older DD are doing the Segway tour at EPCOT in August and their min. age is 16 which leaves DD 13 out. I'm a bit leary of going outside of Disney for this, but I will do some checking.

Well finally after all that with booking a rental car, oi think I'll cancelnthe car and book a limo. I found a couple that were MUCH more reasonably priced than what I had seen before. With tip it should come out to not that much more than renting a car large enough for us and all our luggage and hat boxes.

Besides, I didn't want to make Jackie's sister schlepp luggage to the rental car structure at MCO. In fact, I don't want to have to schlepp luggage and myself to the rental car structure, nor deal with returning the car.

(The lengths I'll go to to keep Jackie's sister happy ...)

Jackie AND her sister both appreciate it!

IF Southwest doesn't change around Saturday flight times, there is a 1 stop (no plane change) flight that leaves at 10A and arrives 6PM...waiting to see the rate on that, but I'm betting it isn't any lower the the current $209 web rate for the week before. US Air has a non-stop leaving at 9AM and getting in at 4PM, which I'd prefer but that's at $230 plus the $25 checked bag fee (plus tax and fees for both airliines). So it would be about $50 more to arrive 2 hours earlier and leave the house an hour later....$50 for 3 hours of 'my time' back doesn't sound too bad, though I'd prefer to give the business to Southwest. Well, we'll see what Tuesday brings and get little sister's input too!

I think we may be taking a 10:40 am arriving at 2:10. Otherwise, we'd be arriving at 6:10 pm.

I booked my air. As I don't care about arrival, I took the non stop that gets in after 8pm. I did a big no no and booked the 12:10 return, but I hope that SWA by then has a contract with Bags to allow for direct to ship delivery of luggage, If not I will most likely keep my bag and leave the ship early. I will miss breakfast, but that is not a big deal to me. I will add the EB to my return ticket, too,
