11/05/05 Western - Who's with Us?

:wave2: Hi to everyone, My DS(will turn16 on 11/11) and I are going. YAHOO!!!!!
We have to "stay gone for a while so his dad and grandpa can get his bithday present set up ( A new toyota tundra with custom detailing). Sooooo I tought hummm this cruise will be great.he is out out of the house and can't be nosey and find out in advance plus he think's the cruise IS his present(but it is really mine, I did have him!) I just love the disboards, I have learned so much, I would have been lost with out all the fantastic advise and pointers  :Pinkbounc :wizard:

Giving us a bump up to the first page. . .

How many of you are flying down and staying at WDW prior to cruise? Will you be using the magical express service? Our group will be at BWV before and after, and right now we're looking at using this "perk".

Hi fellow-cruisers! As I look at the snow outside my window, I am soooooooo looking forward to our wonderful cruise to come. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

DW, DS's 9 & 6 and DD 4. I love planning vacations so we're all set. Flying down from NY LGA on Song, a new airline from Delta to compete with JetBlue, on Friday night. Staying at the Marriott Courtyard in Cocoa Beach that night. Between MCO and Port, we're renting a mini-van from Budget before the cruise and from Avis after the cruise.
We have connecting cat-7's on deck 6. We used our DVC points even though it was more economical to rent out our points and pay cash. I just didn't want to deal with the hassle as it would've been multiple contracts with the number of points.
Our first Disney cruise, CAN'T WAIT!!!

We are going to be there...

After much trouble booking we will be there. It's our first ever cruise.

It's myself, Samantha 33 at time of cruise aka PhotobearSam
My DH, Richard 36 at time of Sailing aka StarWarsMan

We are just thrilled. We are on Deck 6 and can't wait to meet everyone. We are from a small town on the East Coast of Canada and can't wait to meet people from everywhere.

We're CRUISING

Just booked our stay at the POFQ for Nov 3-5th with 1 day tickets to MK. It's a surprise for my family. They think that we're going to stay in Cocoa Beach for 2 nights before the cruise, but I wanted to surpise them and I can't stand the thought of being in Orlando and not going to WDW :smooth: ! We're going to use Magical Express to the resort and the DCL bus will pick us up at POFQ and take us to the port. I have the REAS package booked, so I can make all my ressies before we leave home. Now if I could just get some good airfare from Chicago to Orlando. I have United FF miles, but as usual there are no flights available for my dates :confused3 .

DH and I are going to take our 1st "KIDFREE" vacation to US/IOA in May and I cant wait! I'll feel a little guilty leaving them at home, but it's not like their vacation deprived or anything :rotfl: !

Just checking in with everyone. I am so totally obsessed about this vacation :teeth: Perhaps the fact that we're expecting snow here AGAIN has me dreaming about tropical ports and plenty of :sunny:

DH is now toying with the idea of flying down to Florida earlier in the week (maybe Wednesday night, or Thursday :confused3 ) we've got some passes to water parks that we could use for the day on Friday. I think the kids' school schedule and airfare prices will predict if we fly out a day or two early, or stick with the Friday night arrival plan :teeth: ... Geez only 8 more months to wait

Ok, ok, I'm obsessed! The first step is to admit it right? Anyway ... I got GREAT flights on DeltaSong :cool1: We're flying down on a Noon flight Friday, and we'll be flying home at 5:45pm on Sunday. Guess we'll use those water park passes on Saturday :smooth:

Turtle girl,
My son and I will be on that cruise also. He has been wondering who he
can hang out with also. He will be 15 in August. It will be great to know other
teens that he can talk with who also are going without other siblings or friends.
Although he's already planning on bringing his laptop and thinks he'll just play
on that. I would like to see him be more social. He plays on the computer
enough at home!
I also am single so it would be great to know other people going so that
I'll have other adults to talk to. Although a few of my co-workers are planning
on going also. Unfortunately for my son, their children are not teens.
This will be our second Disney Cruise. Our last in August of 2003 on the Wonder.
My son was sick most of the cruise. Fever, sore throat, ear infection........he didn't
get to enjoy much of the cruise then so he asked me to take him again. Of course
I wanted to go again anyway! This time for a whole week!

Hello everyone on the Nov 5 cruise! Just found this thread. My DW & I will be on this cruise as well. Glad to see so many people excited as we are. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise. Also our 2nd western. Last trip we did'nt make it to Grand Cayman due to the weather. Hope to get to the Island this trip. Any suggestions from the group on a good exursion to take on Grand Cayman that does'nt involve stingrays? (nice to look at, but dont want to get near them)
Hope to communicate with you guys in the next few months before the trip

Paul

Where is everyone staying the night before? We will probably be at the Radison. Is anyone else staying there? We have stayed there before and the pool is great. Maybe a nice place for a pre-cruise meet. -Dizma :cool1:

Dizma:

Still waiting to see if were flying in on Sat or Fri night. If we do com in on Fri we'll be at the Radison to meet the group. Will let you know

We stayed at the Radisson the first two cruises. We tried RonJon's last year because it was new and not much different in cost from the Radisson due to the hurricane damage and lack of rooms available. The kids are spoiled now (so are we) and can't wait to stay at RonJon's again. We drive from NJ get in early enough on Friday to enjoy a day before the cruise lounging around their pool. I also like that we can get a bigger room since we are a family of 5.

Dizma: The pool at the Radisson is a great place for a meet. We did one there 2 years ago and had a great turnout. That meet was much more successful than any meet we've gone to on the ship. It's a great time for the kids to get to know each other before the cruise.

We're flying in on Friday and I'm pretty sure we'll be staying at the Radisson again. SweetSpot, can you tell me about RonJon ... what is it that has you all so spoiled. I'm all about getting spoiled on my vacations, so I don't want to miss out :teeth:

GOOF62370, This will be our 3rd Western Cruise. We were actually on the first Disney Cruise to go back to Grand Cayman after the hurricane last year. DH and my older DS did the Stingray thing ... I stayed on the ship and waited for them to return. Although this will probably sound corny, I'm looking forward to finally getting to Hell and the Turtle Farm. We also found a brew pub, for a few cold adult beverages. They weren't brewing their own beer at that time ... not enough room on the cargo ships for the supplies since they were still trying to rebuild houses. I'm sure we'll be stopping there again ;) .

Poohssmum:

thanks for the tip. We watched a tape of someones adventure with the stingrays. It looked too freaky for us. If we can't find an excursion that fits us I think we'll do some exploring on our own. The pub sounds cool. Do you remember the name of the Pub. I love different beers. Hell sounds neat. The idea of seeing abunch of turtles & knowing later at some point they will wind up in soup is not my idea of fun!!

Dizma: We loved RonJons! The rooms are new and very clean. We had a 2 bedroom last year that was really a one bedroom deluxe condo connecting to another full one bedroom condo. It was huge. We even had 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms, 4 tvs, and 2 full bathrooms. The room also had a washer and dryer which was great. I was able to was what we wore that day and driving day and not have to pack as much. We also had a balcony which allowed us to look out onto the pool and even better watch the cruise ships go in and out of port.

They have a really nice large pool area with a lazy river, water slide, jacuzzi, etc. The kids had a great time and we sat around the pool talking to other people enjoying drink special from the bar. The kids were also able to eat dinner around the pool that night. They also have a small game room and a little store to in the hotel. We just found it to be such a relaxing start to our vacation. We stayed at the Radisson twice and it was nice but the second time it was dirty and rundown. Now that their price is much higher than it was in the past I think it's worth the extra money and staying at RonJon.

GOOF62370:

I agree with you completely, no way I'm getting in the water surrounded by stingrays. I still have no idea what we all will do on Grand Cayman either. I'm leaning to doing Paradise Island on our own in Cozumel. Anyone do Paradise Island on their own before?

I believe the place we stopped was called Hammerheads. If you leave the pier and take a left on the main street (away from the Hard Rock Cafe) it is on the left side of the road. I think it's a blue building :confused3 We sat at the bar outside in the back, although I believe you could order food and sit inside. We got some great pictures sitting on the rails of the bar w/the Magic behind us. From another post I believe there's also a place called Rackhams that's a little further up from Hammerheads and they have a local brew there too.

Hi everyone, my fiance and I will be on this cruise. We both love Disney but it's our first Disney cruise! Less than 6 months to go now... can't wait!!!
