11/04/06 Anyone Out There Yet?

Most of our group is driving down from DC. I booked a Marriott in Jacksonville for Friday night.....that is about 10 hours from home. We will get up on Sat morning and "cruise" on over to the ship!!

We are booking for the MED on Tuesday, we hope :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Anybody else thinking of doing the Med in 2007?

Hi Amy...there will be 2 sailors in our group for your 7 year old. My DS who will be almost 7 and our friends' DS who will be 7. They will both be in 1st grade and I'm hoping they will want to spend lots of time in the club!! I also have another DS who will be 4 who I'm considering asking to be moved up with the other boys. He's the same size as a 5-7 year old and I know he'll only stay in the club if he's with his brother!!

I'm thrilled to hear that there will be kids for my son to play with........you know, boys that he came sort of get to know before the trip.

I see you are from NY, we are from NJ :wave2: I look for ward to getting to know you, and everyone , before the trip.

Amy

Hi Linda and Amy,

I also have a son who will be in the first grade, and a son who will be turning 4 on the cruise.

Amy, did your son like the club last time you cruised?

We'll be coming from Washington State, between the long flight and being out of their routines I'm not sure how they will react to the club. I guess I'll find out in approx seven months ;-)

Hi Chris,

Maybe our 4 year olds can hang out together. I'm so unsure what to do with him regarding trying to move him up to be with his brother. He doesn't make friends easily and is not the social butterfly that my other 2 are. I've read that the 3-4 CM's are wonderful and I would rather he be with his age group but I also want him to be comfortable and have fun. His idea of a perfect day is hanging with his big brother and watching him have fun!!

6 months to go! :cool1:
I am sure the time will fly by. I hope some of the Adults in the group can get together for a coffee or a drink. Just my girlfriend and I are going. No Kids!!
Looking for a lot of RnR. :goodvibes

Getting excited here in NJ.

Hi!

Where are you from in NJ? We are in South Jersey, but originally from Central.

Can't wait to hear more about you.

My son LOVED, I can not stress enough, LOVED the club. He was 6 at the time, and we would be having breakfast and he'd say "I'm going to the club today ..........pick me up after lunch" We'd go at the appointed time and he'd say "I'll beep you when I'm ready" LOL :rotfl2: He really had a great time, and made friends very easily (not typical of him).

I'll buy the first round

Can't believe we are so close to the six month mark, I guess that's what happens when you book over twelve months out. I remember the days before children - adult conversation and drinks - the good old days ;-)

Linda & Amy,

Have you told your kids that you're going on a Disney cruise? I haven't told them anything, but we have talked about Disney cruises in general and watched both the DCL DVD and the Travel Channel special. I'm not sure when to tell them. I want them to have time to be excited - just not too much time.....

Linda - my 4 yo is also somewhat shy. I'm trying to keep an open mind, but I'd really like my boys to be in the age appropriate group. I can totally relate to the younger being happy just watching his older brother have fun. Maybe we can cybertalk when the cruise time is closer. I know Nick would feel better looking for a friend he's heard about - even if they've never met.

Chris

Hi All

Yes, my son Ethan has been involved since the begining in planning the trip. He loves to go to the sites and remember the things we've seen and plan the things he wants to do. He is also very into planning what Nanny & Poppie will be doing :rotfl:

I think it's wonderful that we are creating a little friendship group here, it will be nice to have the possibility of having someone(s) to just chat a moment with on the cruise.

We booked this cruise 2 years in advance and my kids have known the whole time. The family we are traveling with booked us while they were on board in Nov. of 2004. It was soooo far away back then but now it's right around the corner!! It also helped that we took a WDW trip in April of 2005.

I would love to chat about the little ones. Kevin really doesn't make friends easily but I'm willing to try anything to help him. He really is sweet and can play well with other kids but just when I think he's having a good time, he'll come and ask me when are we going home. :confused3 I always tell him he needs to let himself have a good time. Hopefully he'll learn that in the next 6 months.

Bumping up!!! it was all the way back on page 4!!!

Still waiting for Jet Blue to open up flights for November....they should have been out already!!!

I'm finally getting to know all about cruising from reading these boards. I hope to have a good time and not wear myself out. We're on deck 7 which looks convenient to lots of things on the ship.

We're in Bergen County, also waiting for JetBlue November flights to become available. Haven't decided yet if we will fly Friday night or early Saturday. Can't wait to be onboard, this is my first cruise. I think I might like to become a regular cruiser.

I will give you one piece of advise, if this is your first cruise, fly in Friday night. Anything can happen on St morning. On our cruise in Jan, (15 families cruised together) one family decided to fly out Sat morning because one of their daughters had a basketball game Friday night. They had a very early flight (leaving Dulles at 7am and getting into Orlando at like 9:30am...plenty of time) Well that day, a terriost threat closed all three Wash DC Metro Airports for several hours, not flights in or out. They sat in the plane for 5 hours.......they were just so frustrated and there was nothing they could do.

ps....they were the last ones on the ship that day at 4:10pm.....no way to start a vacation

Long and Short, fly on on Friday!!!

For anybody waiting for JetBlue to release November...if you go to Kayak.com, you can book JetBlue flights for November!!! It takes you directly to JetBlue's website. I read it on the DIS transportation board and I just booked our flights...the whole plane was open!! Got a $99 fare from JFK at 1:30 going down Friday and a $139 fare going home at 1:20. Not too bad considering. Good luck!!
