We got back this past Sunday wrapping up the vacation of a liftime. The 4 Day Land/ 3 Day Sea package. Our resort was the Poly, and location, location, location! That place makes it quick and easy to get anywhere on property. But right now I am curious to know if ours was the only DF unable to purchase Poly soda muggs last week? When we arrived on 11/03/02, checked in and we were ready for some lunch. Headed over to Capt. Cook's for a quick bite and to eat and to buy resort muggs. We were told they were unavailable. OK, why? I asked, (get Ready) because we are experiencing a problem with a drainage line in Capt. Cooks right now. OK?..., are you selling soda? Is the soda machine working ? Yes and yes I was told. Well then what does a drainage problem have to do with the selling of a soda mug? We are temporaraily out of stock with that item, I was told. OK, OK it's only a soda mug the family is hungry, we all want to go to MK, I can tell that I'm in a loop here going nowhere. time to cut and go have some fun. Which we did by the way, every day every minute.
But later that evening... I had to call the front desk and leave a message for the duty Mgr. He promptly returned our call, and if you can belive it, he told the same drainage story again and that mugs were temporaraily unavailable and that Disney was not going to offer any compensation for this. I didn't want compensation, didn't ask for any, I wanted a mug. Oh well ! DW and I shook our heads had a good laugh and went to bed with dream of Mickey & Minnie in our heads.
Next morning as the kids took the Pirate Cruise, we took a quick boat ride over to WL to check out that resort (which is awsome by the way) and bought a couple of mugs there which we used uncontested at the Poly duruing our stay. All's well that ends well I always say.

They probably weren't selling mugs because you obviously cannot get unlimited refills for your length of stay if their system is down. Perhaps they didn't want it overloaded with people dumping soda if their drainage isn't working at 100% You would then have a million guests complaining because they purchased mugs and then couldn't get refills if the whole system is damaged and needs to be taken offline for repairs.

Glad you enjoyed your trip despite this.

We were on the same Wonder cruise. sorry missed you. How bout that weather???

We stayed at the Poly from 11/1 - 11/7. We purchased our mugs on 11/2 and never really thought too much about it. We were on our way to fill them once and a woman in the elevator commented about how lucky we were to get them - she was told that the Poly had just discontinued the mug program. I don't know if that's true or not. We would have been better off just buying soda from the machine on our floor. We definitely didn't get our money's worth. The few times we filled our mugs we didn't run into any "drainage" problems at Captain Cook's. Go figure.

I'm with momofbrian, for my money they have discontinued the program of refillable muggs for whatever reason at the Poly. It will be interesting to see if the muggs reappear in the near future there. But I don't see how selling a mug vs selling a paper cup of soda overtaxes a drainage system any more or less. Hey I'm no plumber. But I don't fill up a cup of soda just to pour it down the drain, that is wasteful.
In any event I just posted this to see if there were any other DF's out there who were inconvenienced the lack of mugg availability and got any different feedback from Mgt. to the situation then we did. I wonder as well if they will go back to selling them at all.

Hi CaryCrew,

how was ur cruise portion of your vacation? We are also going on the same package in Dec. and it'll be our first cruise, so we're trying to see how the cruise part was.

Do you mind us asking which stateroom you had? Thanks!!!

Glad you enjoyed your trip!!!;)

The cruise was amazing! We stayed in 8040. When you get on board, don't waste alot of time!!! Eat fast, get into your bathing suites and enjoy! Review the Navigator carefully, map out a schedule. (Of you want to do Palo's-I highly recommend it- make sure you dash to get that ressie). The cruise is a great way to wind down-soemwhat from DW.

Hi Heffie!

Thanks for the info and the tip! We supposed to stay in room 7518 I think! That should be the forward part of the ship, we're scared of being seasick!

We also made ressies w/ Palo (I can't wait, everyone seems to love it!) w/ the CM when they called us as part of our honeymoon pkg. We couldn't make ressies for the spa though, but I'm going to take ur advise and eat fast and go make the ressies!!!!

Thanks again!!!:teeth:   :teeth:

We had the same problem, we arrived on Nov 2nd I purchased 1 mug and could not get another the next morning. I was surprised but we managed. They were having a problem but wouldn't tell us what. At least we got one. I drink a lot of coffee and at $2 a cup I would have spent a fortune. Michelle

The cruise was great!! It was our first cruise as a family, and we had so much fun I don't know where to begin. No motion sickness. The ship is so big it sails very smoothly. (In my opinion) DW and I did a Windjammer cruise for our honeymoon a few years ago and the only comparrison is the amount of fun we had on both. The Wonder CM's really go all out to make the voyage as enjoyable as they can. Enjoy the parties and the shows and try to find some time to just sit and relax!

I just have to pipe in and say that last weekend - actually on Friday the 8th, we had to step across the roto-rooter hose running from the vicinity of Captain Cooks to tour the poly. There was a serious aroma of eau de sewage out there. So.... while I can't imagine how it would affect the mug program, I believe the drainage problem story!

I wonder about something. We were at the Poly in mid October. I noticed many mug users, mostly the kids, that were filling their mugs amd mixing the flavors only to taste it and toss it down the drain. I noticed this a lot through out my 10 day stay. I do think that if one just buys a single drink then they are not going be wasteful as they are not about to dump one and buy another like I noticed the mug users doing. I also noticed quite a few adults having their morning coffee and then dumping the leftovers into the drain. They then rinsed their dirty mugs with the water provided in the soda machine and then filling the mug with soda. I saw this going on every morning I was there. I overheard two CMs talking about how people are pigs and they can't possibly act that way at home. So if the mug has been discontinued, then that is probably the reason. I also noticed in big letters on 3 food boards at Captain Cooks that the mug is only good on your vacation at the Poly. So now anyone wanting to take and re-use their Poly mugs will really stick out like a sore thumb. If they aren't selling them then it will be obvious that the mug was brought back. On a happier note I did see 4-5 architects in Captain Cooks discussing the renovation and enlargement that will be happening. I couldn't hear when it would start though.

Mid October? Kids mixing flavors???? Sounds like my girls Sorry. I didn't realize they were taste testing. They told me they we going to get a drink.:o

I just finished reading your post, they never were allowed soda in the morning so I guess it wasn't mine after all. I know they mixed flavors one afternoon.

Most of the mixing I saw was done in the afternoon. Sorry! LOL!;) I never saw the same group of kids doing it if that is any consolation. Anyway, these kids weren't doing once, but over and over dumping lots of soda out. It was a free for all with the kids I saw.
