I'm not trying to get away with anything and have paid the appropriate "adult" fees for tickets but is it a big deal for my 10yo dd to order off the kids menu at ts restaurants?? :confused3

I do not know the answer but my 10 year old son may want to order off the kids menu at times when we go in June...so I would like to know this as well. :)

It's no problem, my 12 year old usually orders off the kids menu.

I have never had a problem, kids like the kid food, not the adult food, I don't think it matters really that much. I think the rule is really so that adults don't go into Le Cellier and order a kids meal or try to order 2 kids meal and get off cheaper, you know. My philosophy is I am not paying for an adult meal that my kids don't like when there is a perfectly good kids meal that they will scarf down. I have even ordered kid meal (at CS) for myself if it is what sounded good, and wasn't up for any other of the adult food.

My thought is, I am getting exactly what I paid for, who cares who eats it?

I doubt they'd care at Le Cellier either.....if an adult really would prefer a hot dog or "grilled steak" whatever cut that might be.....they're getting a much smaller portion of food and obviously lesser quality. The restaurants are not pricing their meals based on age....it's priced based on quality and quantity....and the kids meals are inferior in both so they're cheaper too. But I doubt there are many 7 year olds who would want the adult choices....my kids would have turned their noses up at risotto, truffle and herb butter messing with their steak! Now, unfortunately their tastes buds are getting more mature and they do occasionally want those better foods. Guess that's the consequences of my encouraging them to try new foods, lol.

Since Disney is the one who has chosen an arbitrary age of 9 to say that's the end of childhood tastebuds.....well, I think everyone understands that's not reality. If a restaurant has an issue with your child ordering from the kids menu, they'll let you know. And then you can decide whether you want to change restaurants. I know that at CS places they don't bat an eye when I go up with the two kids and order three kids meals.....if that's how much food I want, or the kids choices are what I want, I don't have a problem ordering off the kids menu. I do it at home at fast food places all the time....it's part of my attempt at dieting...smaller portions! My favorite place to do this (ok, so it's not exactly diet food in any amount) is Fuddruckers...the kids hamburger is about 2/3 the size of the smallest adult burger, but is still way more than I want and it comes with fries and a drink. Makes it a bargain! And the manager at our Fuddruckers is the one that suggested it to me....I went in asking if they had a half burger or something as I didn't want a big meal....he said to get the kids meal....I replied in surprise that I didn't think adults could have a kids meal and thanked him for making an exception.....he replied it wasn't an exception.....just a smaller meal offering. Depressing, how many years I was throwing away food I'd paid for but couldn't finish......when I could have just paid for a smaller serving!! Granted not all places have kids food I want to eat....no way do I want mystery nuggets or mac & cheese or even a PB&J....but a burger is a burger.

As long as you are not on the DDP, they will let your 10 year old order off the kids menu. DD is 10 and we just came back and this is what we were told. She ordered off the kids menu at all the TS places we went. No problem at all.

Last year my 11 year old daughter ordered off the kids menu a few times and we were on the DDP. They did charge us an adult credit for the kids meal but that was fine. It does bother me a little that I have to pay so much more for her even though she eats the same food as her 8 year old sister. That part kind of stinks. Oh well.

My 16 year old still orders off the kids menu sometimes. For that matter, I've been known to order from the kids menu when I'm just not very hungry! I've never been given a hard time at either a counter or table service.

I also posted something similar on the UK boards, as my eldest DD will be 10 when we go in Feb, and there is no way she'll eat anything off the adult menu's, so it's good to know that she'll be able to eat the same as her younger sister, that should stop any arguements :rolleyes1

My DS (almost 14) rarely orders from the adult menu. He will look at it, but if there's nothing on it he likes he politely asks the server for a kid's menu. He hasn't been refused yet!

This is great to hear and it is going to make our restaurant selection SO much easier. I was reading the menus at some of the places we want to have dinner, all the time thinking, "What in the world would DD order here?"

My daughter said the kids menus look so much better to her than the adult ones at most of the sit-down restaurants. She is so relieved to hear that she can have the kid stuff still!

For us, it's not about cost or "cheating" or anything, and I'll pay the adult prices at the buffet. It's about finding something healthy that she will be happy eating!

You can order a kids meal and pay for it OOP so you don't have to use an adult credit for a $7 meal. We did that 3 times and then used his extra credits for a breakfast and just had to pay OOP for my younger child.

My 11 yo neice ordered off the child's menu at CRT (eg we were paying an adult rate for her). She got a larger portion (of chicken strips) than the child's size.
