Why doesn't Disney have a 10K? I just did the Princess 1/2 but I really love to do 10Ks. Just wondering.:)

They used to--Race for the Taste in October, Tower of Terror 13k in October--but they got rid of them (and replaced it with Wine & Dine 1/2). Since Disney has decided that running is a draw, they are doing what they can to maximize the profit. 10k doesn't have the same draw as a "destination/vacation" race as a half marathon. It's not just the race--it's how many people they can entice to make it a vacation (and spend all that money!)

I feel like Disney tried to meet the desire for a 10K by making the Wine&Dine Half relay but neither length is 10K...kind of fell short.

Yea, they're optimizing how many people they can draw to the parks. More people are willing to travel and make a big event for a half marathon then for a 10k.

I agree that a 10k doesn't have the same draw as a 1/2 or full marathon. A 1/2 marathon is the shortest distance I would travel to race in. I do wish they would add 10k distance to marathon weekend, or at least have a timed 5k.

I think running and particularly half marathons are kind of the "in thing" right now. I know a small local trail run that is 13.8 miles changed the billing to "half marathon" this past fall, I assume for a better turnout...and from what I could tell they did get a few more runners.

They've got the ESPN and Expedition Everest Challenge 5K's not attached to a bigger race weekend, seems like a solo 10K event would work to some degree. I might take a WDW trip based on a 10K.

Whil I doubt the mousse will ever create a 10k feature, it would be nice if they would add a 10k as a secondary draw.

I would love a 10K option for marathon weekend. I love the excitement of marathon weekend but am not a big fan of the training that it takes to run a decent half of full. I love training to run a fast 10K. It's just the right amount of time I want to put aside for it.

I did run the Race for the Taste in '06 and thought it was a good race. I am not sure I would travel just for that race.

I would love a 10k for marathon weekend. I like running 1/2s, but I hate running in the cold, and marathon weekend is so iffy with the temps. But I would totally come for a 10k--quick, fast, hard run. You get to enjoy being there for the weekend without having to commit to running and standing around for hours in the cold. (Yes, I am a wimp and would rather run in heat and humidity than the 30s and 40s.:goodvibes)
