Just listened to the podcast about the WDW Marathon & heard mention of a 16 minute mile to avoid being "swept" in the marathon. Is that the same minimum pace for the 10K? I'll be doingy first 10K at DLR in August. Realistically, I'll probably be doing a mix of running and walking so I'm wondering, worst case scenario, what's the minimum pace to finish that event.

Yes, same pace. However, that 16 minute mile begins when the LAST runner crosses the finish line. If you start 6 minutes before that person, for example, you're allowed closer to a 17 minute mile. You cannot let the balloon ladies (or whatever the DLR equivalent is) pass you.

Awesome - thanks. I will train as though the balloon ladies are chasing me ;)

Train as though the balloon ladies walked a 15 minute mile. The great thing about the 10k course is that you are off public streets by mile 3 and change. From there, the enforcement may be a little more relaxed.

Definitely train for 15 minute miles; from experience, you will need the cushion. Disney races are fun, but crowded.
