So...I made the mistake of signing up to run a 10k in October with my cousin.
I can't even run a mile at this point, and now I have until October 29th to be able to run 6.2 miles!!!
Help!!! Does anyone have any experience with this? Any suggestions???

You will have a great time at the 10K. The atmosphere will make the running so much easier.

There are lots of on-line training help for you.....probably so much it will get confusing.

Since you are just starting out I would recommend a walk/run training program. This will ease you into it. Jeff Galloway.com has a program you migh consider.

Also look for local running clubs in your area. Getting help from others is always easier. All my long runs are so much more fun with ours. There may be a local club in your area.

Remember, it's not about time....but about the experience and finishing.

Yes. Use Jeff Galloway's program ---that will help you finish with confidence. We've probably all been there--getting started. It does get easier. Soon you'll be telling yourself--"I AM a runner." You can do it. Have fun!

At the top of the Running/Walking club thread are a bunch of links. I can't remeber which one, but ther eis wone fo women that had a bunch of training programs for different race lengths. Give that a whirl. ALso, posting on those weekely threads are a great motivator and you'll get lots of help. Good luck with your training! :cheer2:

Also, you may want to do run/walk intervals. That can give you a better pace than a straight run, but fgives you mini breaks to keep you going.
