10A vs 8A- Fantasy

So we have finally narrowed it down to 2 categories.

Yes I know we should probably be getting a larger room or a verandah or connecting rooms, but the wallet simply won't allow that. Besides, part of my rationale for choosing a Disney cruise is the "Disney experience", and most of that is to be had outside- not inside the room.

SO- Didn't think we could do 4 in Cat 11, but the 10A looks fairly doable with the split bathroom. 10A claims 200 square feet, which is larger than most average cruise line rooms, even with a verandah. 10A has no outside view, but does have the magical porthole.

The 8A is the square shape, claiming 241 square feet, but has two large portholes that can also be sat in. No split bathroom or privacy curtain in this category.

The difference is around $500 between these categories. Has anyone cruised in both, and can give me some pointers?

Thanks!!!

Have you looked into 8D? We love the location forward and the room is larger than the lower verandah rooms.

Yes, we saw that. Same size as 8A, but not square.
I don't recall if there is a splint bath in these or not...

It's not really the same size as an 8A, probably a bit smaller but definitely bigger than a 10A. It does have the split bath and the round tubs with the waterfall showerheads.

Online says both 241 sq ft.. But maybe 8A just feels bigger?

Through these boards, I have learned to not really trust what DCL says on their website. :(

Exactly, not all of the rooms are the same size in each category. This also happens when a room has been reclassified, so was originally another category.

People have measured the 8As and say they are approximately 18x18 or 320 square feet (this includes the bathroom). I am hoping this is true. We will find out Saturday!

Please let us know!!

Seems odd DCL would make that kind of error, though. All the "mistakes" I have seen are things that make the cabin look MORE appealing, not less!

I called DCL and they claimed to know nothing about the size discrepancy and truly couldn't even offer me any advice about which of these 2 categories to select.
I know they haven't seen the rooms, but id think they could at least offer some advice. :(

The CMs who answer the phones honestly are not much help beyond what DCL has published on their site. Many or most have not set foot on one of the ships, let alone each class of ship. These discrepancies are minor when considering other errors on DCL's site honestly. You are going to get more information here on the board.

We had a 10A with 4 of us and I didn't enjoy it (felt too small for us all). This time we have an 8D booked.

I don't know for sure, but I thought the 8As only slept 3. Don't know where I got that impression from. You might want to check on that.

The 8As with the room divider (which I believe, are only on deck 5) only sleep 3. At least some of the ones on deck 6 sleep 4. We are a family of 4 booked in an 8A (6012).

That's probably what I heard. Thanks for clarifying :thumbsup2

We had this same discussion at our home. Basically came down to more space .vs. split bath. We chose more space. I love the split bath but we function just fine at hotels with one bath. I just wish they'd publish accurate info on the website about the 8As. I don't think ANY of them have this small square footage and I know NONE of them have a split bath, and NONE fit five people...why is it SO hard to give any accurate info about this room category?
