Every once in a while the dining room would buzz and we would look up to see the Green Sea Turtle swim by. It was the big excitement of the meal. We would totally go back to the Coral Reef next time we go to Disney. It was a family favorite. And, yes, I borrowed the Fish Guide & a coaster for my scrapbook!![]()
I loved the atmosphere and awesome service! It was a family favourite with us also.![]()
We're definately going back this year.![]()
Isn't that turtle awesome!!!!
They'll love it!Awesome review of CR HSM> THis is on our list for August. I think DS and Dnephew will love the atmosphere if nothing else![]()
Thank you!!!You have adorable children!![]()
It's like a little bitty pasta. To me, it was like a spaghetti-o.Isn't cous cous just a diced spaghetti noodle?![]()
I've never eaten at Coral Reef...
Come to think of it, I'm not even sure exactly where it is!![]()
Looks good though! I'll check it out in October.
Question: What KIND of adult beverage. What exactly is a Deep Blue martini?
Oh, yes I did!Did he do that at every meal?![]()
We loved seeing the turtle, apparently just before we sat down the turtle had been resting for over an hour right by our table!!!
You didn't![]()

You should try it. We really enjoyed ourselves. It's behind The Seas.
Deep Blue Martini - Alize Bleu, Blue Curacao, and Sweet-and-Sour. Served with a glow cube. $9.50 They were out of glow cubes from NYE, though.
Camryn wants to cut her hair today. We're talking' from past her shoulders to a bob. I'll take before and after shots! We'll be back soon!![]()
I stupidly offered K a taste and he said what he always says, Just save me some. I hate that. I didnt really want to share, I was just being polite. Take your taste, and back away from my soup, mister!
When we were done shopping, I paid for my book and C paid for her glittery turtle that she named Squirt after Crushs littlest turtle. We paid the $1 for the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund, I asked the CM where I would find the Coral Reef. It's around the back of the building. Bummer- looks like were going back into the cold. We quickly walk around the building and check in. We were asked to wait in the lobby and we sat down on the benches. We began checking out our purchases, but were quickly taken to our seat.
We had a neat little booth that faces the big fish tank. We were handed our menus and a Fish Guide we could use to identify the various fish in the tank. I wanted to get fish of some sort since I love seafood. Sorry, fish ARE food.

C obviously loved the bread appetizer.

I ended up choosing the Mahi Mahi served over Israeli Couscous and arugula with honey soy glaze. I also ordered a cup of Creamy Lobster Soup. I chose the Baileys and Jack Daniels Mousse, although Im not big on chocolate.
Side note:
Yes, I know appetizers arent on the plan. Yes, Ill pay for it and our adult beverages separately. Being on the new 2008 DDP was only annoying because you had to go through the hoopla at every meal of them re-explaining that appetizers, adult beverages and TIPS are not included in the plan anymore. Okay- Got it. Now, bring me my deep blue martini!![]()
I thought the Mahi Mahi was really tasty. I had never had couscous before and although it was good, I was a little freaked out but the texture of it. The lobster soup was so tasty. I stupidly offered K a taste and he said what he always says, Just save me some. I hate that. I didnt really want to share, I was just being polite. Take your taste, and back away from my soup, mister! But, I was a good wife and saved 1/3 of the cup for him. He also gave it a thumbs up. The dessert was okay in small bites. It was really rich, so I wasnt that into it. I left most of it.
K ordered 8oz Strip Steak with potatoes au gratin and broccolini. His steak was yummy and he said his broccolini was the best he ever had. For dessert he chose the Chocolate Wave without cherries. He seemed to like it, but it was too chocolately for me.![]()
B (who is considered an adult on the DDP) ordered the Chicken with jasmine rice and chicken broth. She ordered the Chocolate Wave without cherries for dessert. She enjoyed both.
C ordered carrots and celery, chicken strips and a sundae. A ordered carrots and celery, mac-n-cheese and a sundae. They both ate and enjoyed their meals.![]()
Our server, Holli was really attentive and gave us the best service of the whole trip. We never ran low on anything. She was great.![]()

Meal total: $134.61 ($18 for soup and martini)
So how'd her hair come out?![]()
Next we headed over to Turtle Talk with Crush. We were in the holding area for the first show. Score!![]()
We waited in line for Mr. Rays Pop Quiz while some lady with 4 girls let her kids do the quiz over and over, ignoring the line behind them. She was standing right there watching as they played and played. The little girls in front of us, couldnt even read and kept picking various languages and had no clue what she was doing. I am so not a confrontational person AT ALL, so I mustered up all my courage and said to the mom, Do you think maybe we could have a turn next? I mean, when your girls are done? Nice, huh? I was totally seething underneath at the rudeness of the lady and her girls and that was all I could get out. Too bad I didnt have Mo and her New Jersey attitude with us!A few more minutes passed before she pulled her kids away from the computers.

Finally! Its our turn! The kids did well, no doubt in part to my excellent teaching skillz!
We talked about the different swimming friends, and got lined up to go in the show. C and A were brave enough to go down front and sit with the kids. B, K and I all ended up in the back on the end of a bench. This show was certainly a favorite of our family. I was amazed how Crush can interact with the humans in the human tank. Its so funny to hear the kids laugh at all his answers too.
Remember how I said C gets noticed a lot? Guess who the turtle with the pink shell was? Yep- C. She was brave and said her name. Then, it happened.
We heard Crush asking Cs parental units to hold their hands up. K nudged me and said something about her not being scared anymore. We thought that was the end of it, but it wasnt.
Soon we heard Crush asking to talk to the parental unit with the shiny shell! He said, Yeah, that dudes thinking right now, No way I thought I was gonna talk to a turtle today! We were cracking up as K talked to Crush. He told him his name, and that we have 3 little shells. Crush said, Yeah, I have 78. I totally wish I had my camcorder out. It was fun to see K be embarrassed.
Poor K will never live down being called the guy with the shiny shell. What a blast!
When that was over, we walked around and looked at the displays of fish for a few minutes. Look who we saw! Dory! Just keep swimmin

A diver was ready to go up into the tube, and the kids had a front row spot. That diver was such a jokester. We liked him, but we had to leave before the show was over so I could find out where the Coral Reef was. Too much to do!

Time to shop! Im sure I mentioned this in the PTR, but we are studying Sea Life this year. Of course I had to look in the shop and buy this really cool book that has the bones of all the fish. It has cool facts on each page too. I was impressed that the book was the same as on the cover, not marked up. Thank you, Disney!![]()
Now, where is that restaurant?!![]()

We enjoyed the Coral Reef when we went last year. I thought the highlight was the tank tho for sure. I def think i'd so it again if on a dining plan but otherwise its too expensive! I'm glad you guys liked it!
