All of the ones in this recall were thimerosal free. The point being made was that thimerosal is a preservative which might have prevented the antigen decline.
Thank you.

And good luck to those who didn't. 224 laboratory-confirmed pediatric deaths from H1N1 in the U.S. since April.
Clearly there are people who just want to argue about the vaccine. I could care less if you get it or not. I just was posting what I saw on the news today for those that were interested in looking into it. My hope that nobody had any bad side effects was merely me saying just that. If you chose to get this (or any vaccine) that you do not suffer any ill effects from it. Some of you will argue about anything.![]()

People definitely appreciate when health concerns are brought up; I'm thinking that the thing that caused people's backs to go up were your comments that made it obvious that you think the vaccine is very dangerous and will hurt people, when that's simply not the case.
If you had any evidence that there were any government delays that led to this recall, you might have a point.Funny,
The regular flu vaccine is disributed mainly thru the private sector.
No serious problems there.
The Swine flu vaccine was distributed thru the Govt.
Availability and delays to the point it lost it's effectiveness.
Agreed.I am so glad we did not get this shot. Good luck to those who did.
Eh- to each their own. The same people are just as fervent that we should all be vaccinated with it or it will be the end of the world. Do I personally think it is dangerous? Well I wouldn't use that word but based on what I have researched it simply is not something we want for our family. The End. I am not trying to convince anyone one way or another. That is for each family to decide for themselves.
You do realize that drastic numbers of people were killed by diseases before vaccines became available? I know you've researched it, but many people have turned to pseudo-science for their research and have totally ignored the tried-and-true scientific method. That's what is so frustrating about the anti-vaccine movement...and frankly, it's a sad reflection on our education system.
Your OP indicated you had not looked into the facts of the recall and assumed it was a safety issue. Your second post indicated that you distrusted whether "they" knew what they were doing (although in fact "they" seemed to be right on top of the situation). You can proclaim your disinteredness all you want, but YOU set the tone for the responses you have received.Clearly there are people who just want to argue about the vaccine. It didn't indicate anything regarding my research and I didn't assume anything. I merely stated that it had been recalled and I hoped that those who did receive it did not suffer any side effects. Even if you did receive it and the immunity wasn't what it was supposed to be one might still get sick. Hence a "side effect" if you will.Your OP indicated you had not looked into the facts of the recall and assumed it was a safety issue. I do question if "they" know what they are doing. IMO if they were right on top of things they would have been able to determine if it would lose it's potency. I would think out of all the research they do on it that would have been the least difficult but I am not a scientist so who knows.
Look- I am not anti vaccine and even if I was it would be my choice and nobody else's. I am selective and research everything that I put into my children's bodies. I consult with multiple real life doctors and even have one that worked for the CDC. I realize there are crackpots everywhere but I am not relying in wikipedia for my info.
The anti-vaccine movement is not all crunchy granola nuts who think we won't die from tetnus(sp?). Many of them just want our vaccines to have safe ingredients in them. Meaning not using antifreeze, mercury, embryos etc. If most people actually read what was in a vaccine they would vomit. In many cases the pros outweigh the cons but not always and that is why people have the choices that they do.
I for one don't care one way or another what anyone's choices are. I simply cannot stand the pro-vaxers or the anti-vaxers spouting off like anyone who choses different than them is doomed. That is just my stance on it. YMMV.
In your first post you used the words *bad* side effects and that you were glad that your family had not gotten the shot. If you were happy to not get the shot and risk the flu, why would getting the flu for those who did get the shot be a *bad* side effect? Also you said you saw it on the news buut did not state why it was recalled or provide a link to the news story.
I'm sorry, I'm with the others and agree that it really seemed like you jumped the gun on why it was recalled. I don't think you got the responses you deserved, and I don't think anyone is arguing just for the sake of arguing, they are merely stating why it was recalled and why its not really that big of safety issue because judging by your first and second post it seemed to be what you were saying.

Repeat after me: Antifreeze is not in vaccines. Plus mercury hasn't been in vaccines in years.
