$1000 Question

Does any one have first hand knowledge of being able to pay for the Disney Deluxe dining plan at check in with Disney gift cards. We want to buy $1000 dollars of gift cards at our Giant Eagle grocery store so we can get free gas but only if we can pay for our Deluxe dining plan upon arrival with them.

Yes, you can pay for the dining plans using Disney Gift Cards as well as Disney Reward points from the Disney Visa.

We just got back and that is what I used to cover the entire amount!

YES YES YES... Love this.. Plus I even used my Disney Visa on to the gift cards to get those dollars too. I love this perk. I see you are in Dover.. Not far from us. We had our gas paid for about 2-3 months after we got home! Gotta Love gas perks

We just booked a week at BLT for Feb '11. Member services told me that they could add DDP onto the ressie up to 2 days prior to arrival. I assumed that that meant that I could go that route or add it upon arrival. I was told in another thread that beginning this Fall we would not be add it upon arrival. I am a newbie so I can't say which is so.

To add DDP, you must call at least 72 hours ahead of arrival at the resort and you will pay for it upon arrival. We have been told that sometime this fall we will be able to pay for it ahead of arrival. I don't think that changes when you can add it though.

I did this in May. I used some gift cards, my Disney Visa rewards card, and some cash. It took a little while, but the CM didn't seem to mind.

I've used my Disney Rewards card to pay for the dinning plan at checkin. I had put the deposit for DVC on the card when we bought in 2008. Got $500 in rewards points. Worked out to free dining for Dh and I in 2009!

BUT - in the near future, you will have to pay for the dining plan when you add it to your reservation. If you can use a gift card that way, you will be able to do it. But if you have to have the gift cards and pass them over the desk to the CM, you won't be able to use them.
