My DH and I are going to WDW March 5-12. He owns a landscaping business, so this is his slow season. He really didn't want to go b/c of that, but I insisted b/c it's my last spring break (I'll be getting my master's in May!), he didn't want to go in May b/c he's busy then, and we don't want to go in the summer b/c of the heat and crowds... So anyway, this will be a tight budget trip! I've been saving every possible penny and it look like I'll have about $1000 to spend on food and shopping (I would rather not charge anything). We plan on eating some breakfasts in the room, and bringing PB&J for lunch some days. This sounds do-able, right? I figure no more than $100/day on food for both of us, esp if we're eating atleast one meal in the room, and we only use counter service. I only made 2 PS, one for Chef Mickey's (it won't be a WDW trip without going there!) and one for breakfast at Kona Cafe, DH's favorite is Tonga Toast! I've been to WDW many times, and I think it will work.. just was curious to hear what others have to say... TIA!

I don't think we spent more than that for 4 adults on our last trip although I only paid for the sit down meals so I really don't know quite how much my mom spent. Our PS were Chef Mickey's for breakfast(would definitely do again), Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose(another do again), Garden Grill-Candlelight Processional Package(Dec trip here we come), and Planet Hollywood. Congrats on getting your Master's. I used to joke that I either had time(being in school) or money(working) but not both.

$1000 should be more than enough for two people, especially if your doing the counter services and eating in your room. when i was there, i was happy with the fact that mc donalds (decent salads for me, hamburgers for my picky nephew) was in dtd and the prices weren't crazy inflated. also there was earl of sandwich. one thing i did notice was that we didn't really eat three full square meals. we had a small bite (instant oatmeal i brought from home or fruit)for breakfast except chef mickey day, and smaller snacks through the day. a lot of counter service. now shopping....can't help you there, i'm a shop a holic by trade. :earboy2:

$1000 just for spending $ and food? DEF enough! More than enough! We spent way less than that last time we were there. Just be smart, and plan ahead, and you'll do fine!

My Dh and I went last August. We had $1000 to spend to. And it was plenty. My DH was so happy I stayed in budget. You should be fine.

Thanks so much for all of your responses, I am really starting to get excited now!!! I told my DH not to worry, he didn't want to go on vacation worrying about money the whole time... so this made him feel so much better:-)

You may want to look into adding on the dining package. For $35 per person per day -- just under half your budget - you'd be covered for food and wouldnt' have to worry about bringing in anything. You get a table service meal, a counter service meal and a snack each day. Just a thought.

There's more info here . I think you may have to be using a MYW ticket, so if you're an AP or resident passholder, this may not work for you

We did a 7 night trip on around $1200 including a tour, 2 character meals, nice dinners, moderate resort, big anniversary trip, etc. You can definitely do it!

First trip to WDW 3 years ago my boyfriend and I bought $2000 to spend on Food,Souviners, etc. It was def more than enough-which was good because on our way back home in Atlanta, the side of car tore off (long story!) and we needed money to get it fixed!!

Last year we brought $1,500 and this year just $1,000 which I think will be enough! So you'll be fine! Have a GREAT trip!!

I've been stressing cause I haven't saved up my goal of $600 for three nights for hubby and mine anniversary trip. We have some nice PSs made since this is an alone trip.

We usually take around $1000 for a week trip with our two girls and we always end up having to resort to our debit card. We typically eat at one PS meal a day for dinner, breakfast is in the room and lunch is counter service. We don't buy that many souvenirs either, less than $200 I'd estimate. WDW can be pretty dang expensive.

I've yet to find that magic number, but it usually seems we've got just enough in our pocket for the drive home... :earboy2:

When it's just DH and I, I plan on spending $100 a day for food. We usually eat breakfast in our room, except for our last day, every other meal is eaten out, mostly at counter restaurants, and it's plenty of money. We always come home with money. Unless you are going to buy a lot of expensive souvenirs, you should be fine.

Have a great trip! :)

Last year my family of 2 Adults and 2 children and we spent about 650 on food for nine nights. We had breakfast in our room every morning except one time at Chef Mickeys. We even did the luau too. So for 2 people that would def be enough for the you 2 adults.
