Thank you Target, for finally getting $100 GC. This will make paying for larger Disney purchases so much easier. Plus half the cards to carry around.

Not online as of tonight. I just ordered another $500 worth of $50 cards from target.com about an hour ago. I looked for $100 card, but still only $50's

I ordered one yesterday online. The strange thing is, I tried to buy a $50 too since I had a Target GC for that much, but it kept trying to charge me tax on the $50 one so I didn't get it. (But not on the $100 one).

There was a glitch yesterday charging tax on certain gift cards. It has been fixed as of now.

cool
My hubby just got a nice job and with each pay check were going to be buying some cards from target each time we are over there.

It's nice to get $5 off each time you buy a $100 card :)

If you order online and have the Red Card as your default payment, you still get the 5% discount but you can use any other credit card to actually pay, which is nice if you've got a rewards cc. I have heard of people running into issues with the card not being activated from time to time which is a bigger headache with online purchases.

I've seen those reports too. I called the number on the back of the gift cards and entered the card numbers and security codes for each one to check the balance. While a bit time consuming it gave me peace of mind going into our vacation.

That's a great idea. Just out of curiosity, what do you do if you find out your card wasn't activated and you ordered it online? I know with the store cards I can just take them back in with the receipt.

Personally I would have called target's customer service line with all my order information and gift cards on hand. Thankfully I didn't have to!

How exactly does this work? I have the red card set as default and added a $100 GC to my cart, went to checkout, entered info for a different rewards CC, and the $5 discount went away?

Do we first buy a Target $100 GC at full price with the rewards CC, then go online to purchase the Disney GC at discount using the Target GC as the final form of payment? (And just wind up with $5 left over on the target card...)

I'm sorry, I don't know. Maybe they've changed it. I've never done it myself, but it's discussed quite often on the Budget Board that you can simply switch from your default red card to another card and you'll still get the discount.

Ok, so I just checked on the Budget Board and people are still saying you can do it, but Target has apparently been having issues with its online gift card ordering so it could be a glitch in their system right now.

Also, I pasted this from the Budget Board about ordering Disney gift cards online:
Very true - just added that in case anyone didn't know. I will say I was purchasing online until I read too many horror stories about Target not activating online gift card purchases and then having a nightmare of a time trying to get the situation rectified. Make sure to check those gift cards against the Disney gift card website if you order online - the stores apparently can't fix them even if you have the invoice from shipping

Why would Target give you the 5% off everyday if you're not using your Red Card?

Target won't give you 5% off if you use a a non-Target credit card, but online only you can get the 5% off if you have the Target RedCard as your default payment method, go through almost the entire checkout process with the 5% discount showing, and then before you submit your order switch your payment method to a Target gift card. The 5% discount stays on your order. People are buying Target gift cards at a discount through through places like Raise.com or at their grocery store to get CC rewards plus fuel rewards and then turning around and buying Disney gift cards at Target.com for an additional 5%. I use my Amex Blue Cash Preferred CC, which gives me 6% cash back at grocery stores, to buy Target GC at Safeway with an additional 2X fuel rewards (which for me equals an additional 2% in savings due to a very small gas tank), then using those on Target.com for the 5% off giving me approximately 13% off.
